Hey guys here is another update for you all. This one incorporates JanHas F-16 models, creates surface ALSF and MALSR lighting where needed and updates some minor stuff.
This update can go right over top of what you already have installed.
Here is the changelog for updates 3.1 to 3.5

Balkans Update 3.5 (465 MB)
Balkans 4.33 Update 3.5 Hi-Resolution Textures (606 MB)**Note: If you choose to use the Hi Resolution Textures, make sure you install update 3.5 first, then install the textures. Balkans Update 3.5 Alternate (394 MB)**Some guys with lower end machines might experience a FPS drop that is not to their liking. If that is the case, here is an alternate Balkans 3.5 update. The only thing that is different between the 3.5 update and the 3.5 alternate update are the updated F-16 models. The alternate update does not have them installed since those are the cause of the FPS.
Please make sure you have the Same ACDATA Files Required UNCHECKED in the config editor while using the 3.5 or 3.5 alternate update.**

Good job.
Nikos. -
Still one update ? We’re never quiet with those changes !
But of course THANKS YOU VERY MUCH Cougar for this one also !
The guys who are working in this theater push it at the highest level, really!
I’m impatient to see the marshallers by NOVE on the taxis -

You guys rock…… thanks for 3.5… still the best campaign in the sim!
-
First of, thanks guys for your work.
Second: for compatibility purpose, is it possible to update to .5, rename the folder and install .3 in the regular folder? I have a campaign running in MP.
Thanks for your time.
PS: I still have the 0.5 GB installer. But I suppose I’d need the original 3.x Balkans pack?…
PPS: I suppose my .3 campaign wouldn’t be compatible with .5 install.

Hi,
Just a little question regarding this statement:
….
Please make sure you have the Same ACDATA Files Required UNCHECKED in the config editor while using the 3.5 or 3.5 alternate update. We presume that all people flying MP with this theater, on the same server with version 3.5 installed, has the same ACDATA from the same installer….so, why uncheck the option which is there to avoid the manipulation of ACDATA files?
Maybe this means that after this installation we will not be able to fly on other theaters with people with standard ACDATA files from main installer of FalconBMS?And, another note : extracting the file Balkans 4.33 Update 3.5 Hi-Resolution Textures I obtain an executable which is marked 3.4…
I am a little confused
Thanks for your light in the dark
Kind regards

Because the alternative installer is without the janhas models and thus different acdata
-
Copy that, thanks

Hi,
How to install this update?
Thanks in advantage!
Cheers.

Download the zip file, extract the exe within to a temporary location.
Run the exe, it will ask to point to a folder. Point to your Falcon BMS folder (the root folder, not a subfolder, so usually something like _C:\Falcon BMS 4.33 U1_).
Let it run. If it asks to overwrite an existing file, choose “yes to all”.

Question,
I installed 3.5 with JanHas Vipers, picked first campaing and noticed that even on my system i have 29-30fps on ground ( There were like 8-12 vipers around waiting to take-off / taxi ). Is there anybody with his system who can achive more fps on ground even with the models from Jan? I love them but if they are the problem i will use the alternative installer without them.
Since my GPU and CPU load is always around 30-40% for both i think the problem with the whole game is the engine which dont like high poly count models and too much stuff close together. It scares me since there is many projects with awsome models F14 ; F4 ; F104 etc. and they can have big impact on performance leading up to people actually not using them
Or I am just unlucky.

Before you go to the low-res installer, try unchecking the HiRes box in the Falcon BMS config.exe, that might help you out…you will still have Janhas models…it just won’t use the HiRes folder. Just a suggestion
-
I tried to use stock BMS models and now i have 45-50 on that busy base. And on the other i went from 30-35 to 50-60 ( only 2 planes there ). So i guess even tho Jan’s models are so amazing i gonna stick with the stock ones just for more smoother gameplay.
I wonder if i had like mad system with 1080ti and new 2066 i7 6core if there will a difference in performance. Since my system even tho giving lower fps in this case, actually isn’t under any load at all. I can use max settings or low settings the fps results are the same.
Anyway i can’t wait to fly Balkans after i am finished with my KTO campaing.
EDIT: As for Hi-Res textures the results were the same, still 30-35 FPS on the base where only me and my wingman were taking off.

I run BMS with a Nvidia 980ti at DSR 4.0 and 5120 x 2880 with 70-90 fps in the KTO navigation training TE.
Balkans 3.1, Balkans 3.5 and 3.5 with hires textures gives me 25fps. Frustrating. -
Update 3.5 with JanHas Models
graphical failure
correctly
-
Go into the KoreaObj_HiRes folder and delete the tail skins 2812 - 2815 that are showing as bunker skins, then your Has Bunkers will be ok with HIRes box checked
-
Do I need each patch for the campaign to properly work? I had the original and V3.5 and I crash to desktop when I takeoff (while the tower clears me to takeoff.)
-
If you guys dont want to use the Jan Has models because of FPS issues that is completely understandable. There is an alternate update in the first post of this thread that updates everything else for update 3.5 except the models.

My models are poly heavy. I have an “old” i7 3770K and I noticed that after I turned hyper threading off (from 8 to 4 cores (2 logical cores per physical)) I got a markedly improvement in LE when handling those LV3 models. I already noticed the slowing in LE when going from a single core cpu to a newer multicore cpu years ago… Falcon/LE were never written to handle multicore cpu’s. You can check if the fps improves when HT is off. If not turn it back on…
