Absolutely sure I spelled it incorrectly but as Mower says…

Your reading something that isn’t there… I do not understand your reaction when I was asking for knowledge. Yes, I purchased the training manual in it’s incomplete state. Yes, I would like to know when it will be finished. I am not arrogant… Actually I am kind of meek.
If I insulted you I apologize -
I don’t feel insulted - But I’m glad you apologized anyway
Here’s my view on your reaction:
You come here and “demand” more work from me and my team under the fact that you bought something which is not complete and to quote you: half the game is missing
You have been made aware that what you pay is not the manual (all my work is free - for your full benefit - just like all the rest in BMS)
What you pay for is the printing job that Lulu asks. Nobody makes a profit from it, except Lulu.
As said the PDFs are free on the forums and the content is the exact same. Now, there is nothing personnal in my reaction. Unfortunately you are not the first one to demand more work from a bunch of ppl working on their own quality time
That imho turns like arrogance. We do not own anything to you.
So you’re certainly a nice guy, but the way you acted in this topic turned as arrogant - which I hope is not becoming more and more a cultural thing - and one that as a moderator I have to point outon a personnal aspect:
Everyone has his own limit and I’m getting tired of these outburst so I apologize to have used your posts as an example. For the other guys, do not worry. I’m not dictating my activity based on a minority ever complaining. I do feel compelled to finish what I started, for the silent majority
So the project will continue and will be released when I have the time to pursue, not when some guys feel it’s time to deliver and demand content. -
While the like button is missing I say thank you. Your work and time is much appreciated!

If I insulted you I apologizeYou misunderstand. The training manual is in a complete state…. for now. As I said in my reply to your first post, it will get more material in 4.34. Will it be finished by then? Who knows? Probably not; there’s always room for improvement.
Your attitude may have been surmised from the words and format you’ve used in your reply; maybe keep that in mind when typing up replies and choosing to use ??? instead of just ? As to when it will be finished… “3-4 Falcon weeks” translates to it’ll be finished when it’s finished. As the people who work on this do this in their spare time and provide the fruits of their labor for free, the community has learned to respect that and to give the devs their space.
Nice that you’ve shown maturity to apologize

@Red:
Let’s see…
I’m the author of the training manualAnd because of this ungrateful poster I decided NOt to finish the AA training mission.
There is no need for me to spend my free time trying to help ungrateful and arrogant pplIf you guys are disapointed by my decision, blame bobbydevo who hopefully will learn to become a bit less arrogant in the process
“Logic clearly dictates that the needs of the many outweigh the needs of the few.” …… “Or the one.”
There will always be those that do not appreciate your work Red Dog but you are clearly the bigger man. Always appreciated RD

@Red:

As a user of Lulu, I know that this is a lie.
Here’s Reddogs page on Lulu: http://www.lulu.com/en/shop/olivier-beaumont/bms-433-training-manual-soft-cover-full-colours/paperback/product-22627376.html
He sells the book for $29.77 USD. Fair enough. This is WITHOUT shipping cost included by the way.
Here’s the customer enquiry page for quotes on books. It gives actual book manufacturing costs, not estimates. The great thing about Lulu is that these costs are constant from initial formation of books to final publishing. They don’t change.
http://www.lulu.com/create/books
Let’s take a look at the manufacturing cost of his book. Scroll halfway down the page and enter ‘152 pages’, this is the number of pages Reddog has written for his manual. It’ll give you a figure but the size is incorrect. So after that, scroll to the bottom of the page, click on full ‘color on white’ under the Interior Print column and then select ‘A4’ in the product size.
Well, what do you know? Total manufacturing cost for a full color A4 book is $9.71.
But wait, we’re not done yet. Go to this page next because this will outline the total cost to Lulu when you sell through their website: http://www.lulu.com/sell - and also here which outlines their commission: http://connect.lulu.com/en/discussion/33139
In the first box for the first link, you’ll see how much Lulu makes on each copy in total. The base cost, which is the manufacturing cost to Lulu, plus the Lulu share, which is 20% of the net profit Reddog makes on each copy. The 2nd link outlines commission.
So Reddog sells his book for $29.77. The manufacturing cost is $9.71. So minus the sale, he makes $20.06 on each copy.
Now for commission, which is splits the net profit 80/20 between the creator/lulu, 20% of this profit amount is $4.01 which goes back to Lulu.
Therefore for each sale of this Training manual, Reddog makes $16.05 for each copy sold. Note that this DOES NOT include postage. That comes in addition to the total cost of the purchase.
I knew something was suss when I read Reddogs reaction to the OP. A little research on the matter reveals that he’s been spinning a bit of a lie to the community at the same time. I mean hey, he did write the training manual so it is his property, I don’t know how you guys feel about that but for my part, no offense by me is taken.
But the whole “I don’t make money” thing? I mean… c’mon buddy, don’t lie about you not making money on the manual. It’s hilarious to think you could honestly get away with that! Come clean

Maybe if you configure the book differently? Correctly?
Maybe you owe Olivier an apology?

Easy for me to come clean, as I am smarter than that and I knew someone would try that one day
I log into Lulu author corner often to see how many have been sold. Because my only income for these books is indeed the satisfaction to count how many have been bought.
and luckily there is an income report as well
Here’s a copy from decembre 2013 to today - you have the total numbers and the amount lulu gave back to me:
Oh and by the way: if you think the above image has been photoshopped, I can send you the official report and I’ll even have my login and pw given to you so can you log in and check for yourself
You’re talking about my integrity mateMaybe you owe Olivier an apology?
Accusing someone of being a liar without proof is parjury no? Isn’t that an offence in your country?
Are you aware Hatchet that you can’t do what you want on a forum internet media nowadays without risking being pursued? So yes I do believe you owe me a big immediate apology for the discredit you introduced with your ill calculated method
-
Maybe if you configure the book differently? Correctly?
Maybe you owe Olivier an apology?LOL! All that typing calling RD out…. 152 pages, A4, perfect-bound, full color… what do you know? $29.77!
I wonder if his apology will be as verbose?
-
As a user of Lulu, I know that this is a lie.
Here’s Reddogs page on Lulu: …
Shame on you.
-
Not called perjury here, but depending on the circumstances it can still constitute libel (WA law). I believe perjury is lying under oath, and while Im no legal expert Im not aware of that specifically being an offence or unlawful act (although thinking about it, surely it must be).
I suspect given the circumstances, it stems from a lack of familiarity with lulu and is a case of mistake - although if so, its still a serious allegation. Still, anyone familiar with lulu would not believe the quoted price of $9.71, for a color book.
-
Perjury, in the UK at least, is a criminal offence.
If you are found to have committed perjury in a court of law then as part of due process you can expect to be on trial at a future date for the offence committed.
See http://www.legislation.gov.uk/ukpga/Geo5/1-2/6
And for libel, see defamation http://www.legislation.gov.uk/ukpga/2013/26/introduction/enacted
In fairness, Hatchet, had he\she any concerns over RD’s statement of not earning anything from sales should have contacted RD directly and posed his\her suspicions\questions in private, thereby giving RD the opportunity to defend his position without having his integrity questioned in public.
There are ways and means of doing things, in this instance it appears Hatchet has made a huge error and should leave sleuthing to Colombo rather than trying to be Clouseau……
-
It’s just the same procedure according to Italian trial law - nothing to wonder about, by the way.
With best regards to all,
-
Interesting stuff Hatchet, but I am wondering: did you RTFM?
-
Hatchet - I see from your profile you have only made 39 posts - lets hope your 40th is a heart felt apology to a man who has done more for the BMS community - for free by the way - that you will ever do.
Man up and say sorry - you will feel better for it !!! and so will we.
-
Looking back at these posts I have a couple issues. At no point did I demand the training manual be finished- you read that wrong. I asked for a time frame. When? The answer being that it could be done in 3-4 weeks or a year or its done as its gonna get… I asked my question a few times because I wasn’t getting an answer.
Yea, your all right in calling me out on the half a game thing. It should’ve been thirds- One third learning aircraft systems, one third to the ground game and the last third to the air game.
I don’t give a hoot if anyone is making money off these manuals. They wrote them up, go ahead and charge what they think its worth. People will still buy them.
I sure as hell was not being belligerent in my questions. The belligerence began after my posts.
So one more question: Are the dash 1 and dash 34 done like the training manual is done or are they actually done?
F*#&!:%… -
Yes…the BMS -1 and -34 are done in accord with actual USAF manuals…only a lot of stuff is left out.
