Mission Commander beta release
-
Hi Falcas
Mission Commander is a brilliant tool so thanks very much for all your hard work putting it together.
Starrats & I are working on a theatre at present and I’ve spent this afternoon pulling together a NAVAIDS document for it. I used the MC Station ILS tab for this and the Save TXT functionality. It took quite a while and a fair bit of manipulation in Excel to get it all sorted into tabular format. It would have been great to have had a csv download of the Station ILS table as it appears in MC instead.
Can I put this forward as a suggestion for a future release please?
Cheers

Well he is quite for a long time now…
Very deep probably on the code, working for the changes for the 4.34…
He has 3 things, at least, under his armpit… MC WDP EU Theater… -
Hi there, is there a workaround for the error that pops-up on the map of MC ?
Cheers
PS: Ok win 7 compatibility seems to correct the issue with win10…

Documented that in earlier posts
But Falcas said that would be solved in future release… I was just trying to find a way to use the current version…

Hi Falcas.
MC is a great tool to edit missions, each time with more options. There is a manual where you can see all the functions, or those that are advanced.a greeting

For a few versions now, I keep getting this error whenever I try to press Apply after making changes to a flight. After clicking away the error notification, I always have to press Cancel to get out of the flight window.
The change is not visible after pressing Cancel, yet if I then proceed to save and reload the mission, all changes made have in fact been applied correctly. When editing battalions, I don’t get this error.

Hey Eagle-Eye,
thank you for your observation! It never occured to me that, despite the error message, the changes (like renaming the flight) are in fact applied correctly.
Very good to know, since i am currently preparing a set of TEs, and this info enables me to do the “Mission Commander magic” that i have been missing dearly… -
The dll is in the main program directory (C:\program files\mission…)
-
MC update, latest version 0.5.7.349.
See first post for details.Enjoy,
Falcas

Look what the cat brought in… Ow… dear GOD … my wish has finally come true … snifff. You’ve repaired ‘laggy’ waypoint map… I’m grateful , REALLY, I am
THANK YOU FALCAS!!!
–now if you have an idea, how to make Taskforce follow certain amount of waypoints , then LOOP the last two forever ?
maybe -Final flag ? Can you explain/ elaborate
Cheers (I miss those 2beers smiley from the HQforum)

Your welcome.
And yes… still aroundGr Falcas

:kumbaya:
Don´t know if doable via MC.
So far, the task force will loop all the waypoints… BUT, you can start in a location far away from the first waypoint. So you can travel (single staight line) from starting position to whatever waypoint you decide (normally first, but designated by “actual” if IRC), and then loop them all.
Drawbacks… the behaviour in 2D is Ok… the behaviour in 3D is not… it get messed up very often… and if you want your task force to travel along the coast, they may end on the ground.
If there is something new via MC, it will be a great addition to Taskforce route managing.
By the way, BIG TIME THANKS FALCAS!!!

In old Tacedit you could ‘play’ (edit) with waypoints timing , thus it could help to create timed loop , MC don’t have this feature yet for Taskforce/Ground units , not that is entirely needed anyway.
So, yes, I have no problem to create entire waypoints loop , that is default behavior, but I want to ‘simulate’ eg. Taskforce entering Adriatic then loop last few waypoints, not jumping back to WP1.
It is possible (maybe?) just hard to do it, you need specific flags at waypoints and you need to assign time at waypoint. Every waypoint have IN and OUT time., it is just not accessible via MC yet! , (it is in Tacededit, but can’t use that anymore), so theoretically you could achieve some results playing with that.
I’ve managed to ‘STOP’ tanker fleet coming to a harbor, sweet., just need correct X-Y , it seems it automatically stops the fleet entering XY of harbor if there is port feature(s) and is a last waypoint of the fleet.

Cannot asure you 100%, but IIRC:
- Yes, ships will stop at objectives (I think not only in ports).
- Yes, you can enter Adriatic and loop. As I told you, make the route /loop you want, but initial position of the ships needs to be different, so they will go to first (or whatever) waypoint from out-of-the-loop position, giving you that effect.
-Timings on waypoints never worked for me at all.
-Tacedit is still a valid tool…Why can´t you use it?
-
Falcas, looks like you have have correct the issue with cloning flights, thanks for that. Although I am now getting a crash when shifting the cloned flight time, is this just me or do you see this also?
-
If you post an error message, please click on Details. Else I have no qlue where the crash happens.
Used time shift myself without a problem, so need more details.Gr Falcas
-
Yes it throws exception after apply, eg. when you shift time for 1hr then press ‘apply’, but when you close the flight window and refresh unit list changes are preserved, so it works in the end.
Here’s output.
See the end of this message for details on invoking just-in-time (JIT) debugging instead of this dialog box. ************** Exception Text ************** System.InvalidCastException: Conversion from string "" to type 'Integer' is not valid. ---> System.FormatException: Input string was not in a correct format. at Microsoft.VisualBasic.CompilerServices.Conversions.ParseDouble(String Value, NumberFormatInfo NumberFormat) at Microsoft.VisualBasic.CompilerServices.Conversions.ToInteger(String Value) --- End of inner exception stack trace --- at Microsoft.VisualBasic.CompilerServices.Conversions.ToInteger(String Value) at MissionCommander.fclsFlight.ApplyFlight() at MissionCommander.fclsFlight.btnApply_Click(Object sender, EventArgs e) at System.Windows.Forms.Control.OnClick(EventArgs e) at System.Windows.Forms.Button.OnClick(EventArgs e) at System.Windows.Forms.Button.OnMouseUp(MouseEventArgs mevent) at System.Windows.Forms.Control.WmMouseUp(Message& m, MouseButtons button, Int32 clicks) at System.Windows.Forms.Control.WndProc(Message& m) at System.Windows.Forms.ButtonBase.WndProc(Message& m) at System.Windows.Forms.Button.WndProc(Message& m) at System.Windows.Forms.Control.ControlNativeWindow.OnMessage(Message& m) at System.Windows.Forms.Control.ControlNativeWindow.WndProc(Message& m) at System.Windows.Forms.NativeWindow.Callback(IntPtr hWnd, Int32 msg, IntPtr wparam, IntPtr lparam)

Ah dear friend,
No, you can’t use Tacedit anymore to full extent, it doesn’t read at least .cam files properly anymore, (just look at pol/objective list from some autosave.cam) since 1-2 years back. Even if it reads most of the data ok , the other half which is erroneous will ‘pork’ your .cam output file when saving , what is interesting, not every time , but possibility exists every time, which will destroy your .campaign in 2 of 10 saves. So it is is a risk, and I’ve felt it on my own.
You can still only CHECK some stuff with Tacedit, but I strongly suggest NOT SAVING your files…. Many times files saved in Tacedit had problems when opening them then in MC.
But, luckily our dear friend Falcas is kicking the MC very well …, so it is only current editor ,… with better interface and automation,… so yeah… We should be thankful, and so I am. no asskising involved -Timings for waypoints work very well for CAP air patrols… I know, I know, those are air units and we are talking about Navy/Taskforce , which are somewhat unfinished business in Falcon in general, not only BMS. …Also I must say,… not much people even tried to play with that to a full extent, maybe someone will still succeed even by pure luck , with right flag settings … and when that option becomes available in MC…
WHAT we need for that is waypoint editor window for Ground units/Taskforce , … currently you can only see waypoints preset and check FORMATION which they travel , but there are lot more data what can be changed for any waypoint.
I’ll waitOK. Thanks, … I will try that LOOP approach with Taskforce , … create waypoint loop WP0,1,2 in Adriatic , but starting position X/Y far from WP0 in straight line of course… yes it sounds messy because WP0 should be starting position… but , sounds like it could work… like messy hack
… GOD knows I’ve tried lots of things already… create waypoint set in MC , then playing with timing and flags of waypoints in Tacedit … but unfortunately not any success.
Let me repeat what is the goal here. No picture, but if needed… just whistle.
Some Carrier taskforce SOUTH of Sicily , is moving EAST/NORTH path to enter Adriatic Sea, some…8 waypoints… then loop between wp9 wp10 (and maybe wp11, for neatness ) for the remains of campaign .
What happened is taskforce moved all the way to the WP11(in Adriatic) and then tried to loop with WP1 over land (Italy) – beginning , south of Sicily
So I’ve tried various flags and timings (like in CAP scenario) with Tacedit … but did not work.
Maybe is even hardcoded like that. What I remember from the Falcon - Allied Force , they created paths of WPs for ships , maybe with old TCL scripts, to long for 30+ days… so yeah it seems even they could not solve this problem…
So, yeah, any help is welcome…
Cheers
