Mission Commander beta release

Cannot asure you 100%, but IIRC:
- Yes, ships will stop at objectives (I think not only in ports).
- Yes, you can enter Adriatic and loop. As I told you, make the route /loop you want, but initial position of the ships needs to be different, so they will go to first (or whatever) waypoint from out-of-the-loop position, giving you that effect.
-Timings on waypoints never worked for me at all.
-Tacedit is still a valid tool…Why can´t you use it?
-
Falcas, looks like you have have correct the issue with cloning flights, thanks for that. Although I am now getting a crash when shifting the cloned flight time, is this just me or do you see this also?
-
If you post an error message, please click on Details. Else I have no qlue where the crash happens.
Used time shift myself without a problem, so need more details.Gr Falcas

Yes it throws exception after apply, eg. when you shift time for 1hr then press ‘apply’, but when you close the flight window and refresh unit list changes are preserved, so it works in the end.
Here’s output.

Ah dear friend,
No, you can’t use Tacedit anymore to full extent, it doesn’t read at least .cam files properly anymore, (just look at pol/objective list from some autosave.cam) since 1-2 years back. Even if it reads most of the data ok , the other half which is erroneous will ‘pork’ your .cam output file when saving , what is interesting, not every time , but possibility exists every time, which will destroy your .campaign in 2 of 10 saves. So it is is a risk, and I’ve felt it on my own.
You can still only CHECK some stuff with Tacedit, but I strongly suggest NOT SAVING your files…. Many times files saved in Tacedit had problems when opening them then in MC.
But, luckily our dear friend Falcas is kicking the MC very well …, so it is only current editor ,… with better interface and automation,… so yeah… We should be thankful, and so I am. no asskising involved -Timings for waypoints work very well for CAP air patrols… I know, I know, those are air units and we are talking about Navy/Taskforce , which are somewhat unfinished business in Falcon in general, not only BMS. …Also I must say,… not much people even tried to play with that to a full extent, maybe someone will still succeed even by pure luck , with right flag settings … and when that option becomes available in MC…
WHAT we need for that is waypoint editor window for Ground units/Taskforce , … currently you can only see waypoints preset and check FORMATION which they travel , but there are lot more data what can be changed for any waypoint.
I’ll waitOK. Thanks, … I will try that LOOP approach with Taskforce , … create waypoint loop WP0,1,2 in Adriatic , but starting position X/Y far from WP0 in straight line of course… yes it sounds messy because WP0 should be starting position… but , sounds like it could work… like messy hack
… GOD knows I’ve tried lots of things already… create waypoint set in MC , then playing with timing and flags of waypoints in Tacedit … but unfortunately not any success.
Let me repeat what is the goal here. No picture, but if needed… just whistle.
Some Carrier taskforce SOUTH of Sicily , is moving EAST/NORTH path to enter Adriatic Sea, some…8 waypoints… then loop between wp9 wp10 (and maybe wp11, for neatness ) for the remains of campaign .
What happened is taskforce moved all the way to the WP11(in Adriatic) and then tried to loop with WP1 over land (Italy) – beginning , south of Sicily
So I’ve tried various flags and timings (like in CAP scenario) with Tacedit … but did not work.
Maybe is even hardcoded like that. What I remember from the Falcon - Allied Force , they created paths of WPs for ships , maybe with old TCL scripts, to long for 30+ days… so yeah it seems even they could not solve this problem…
So, yeah, any help is welcome…
Cheers

Taskforces waypoints setup is very simple and I don’t understand what/why you have a problem.
When implemented in MC (many years ago) this was fully tested and functional.
There is only one catch what has been explained already.
First add the taskforce to your mission in BMS, let the mission clock run for a couple of seconds. This to make sure the taskforce gets a couple of wpts set by BMS. Then save the mission.
Now you can change the route as you wish in MC. If you do it this way, something is set, however the file is the same.
This is why I have not been able to fix/find/change this. But for all… forget about trying to set flags.
The flags are for each and every unit type. Most of them are for internal code use and are overwritten when the mission gets loaded in BMS. Most of them are not used at all for various units. Like flags used by Air are not used by Naval.
What you can set in MC is what you need. If you can’t set it in MC… you don’t need it (with some exceptions)About TacEdit… its not compatible with then next BMS version. Forget about it

Falcas, no problem with WP setup, the problem is trying to loop between 2 last waypoints in a path. So WP0 -> WP9 normal nav path , then WP10 do the loop back to WP9 … and that last loop doesn’t work. Instead fleet goes back to WP0 after WP10 … and I want it to go to WP9.
Like it is hardcoded to do a full waypoint loop after end of the path… and anyway, I still don’t know HOW to do it, I suspect that waypoint flag could be helpfull along with waypoint timing… since that is behavior of CAP waypoint loop.
Yes I was comparing it wrongly with AA/CAP mission which uses almost same principle with loop inside a serie of steerpoints/waypoints , but of course it is not the same for NAVAL and AIR . …
So if you think it is possible to do ONLY LAST 2 waypoints loop, Please help
edit:
One other question , aside above case, … Which MISSION.DAT in campaign/save dir is working/relevant. There are 2 of them : Mission.dat and Mission.dat.new … after checking internally , Mission.dat is old/original behavior and Mission.dat.new have certain new variables regarding escorts , escorts loiter timing , etc… and even those new variables from ‘.new’ file are in Bms.exe , but which one to use?
DEFAULT is I guess original Mission.dat , and I can’t find if the code looks for Mission.dat.new , and the code mention those new variables , but I don’t know are they active or not. (I will try , just want your opinion)Cheers

About the taskforce wpt and loop. As far as I know this is not an option.
The code will always sent it to the next wpt. When its the last, it goes to the beginning of the list.
This is an example what I mean with the flags. Also the wpts are the same in the code/data for flights, batalions and taskforces. This does not mean you can do the same with taskforces as you do with flights.Need to come back to you about the mission.dat. That has been done a long time ago and have no idea what the status is in 4.33.

Only use the mission.dat, the “new” should not have been in the install.

Great! , just as I thought. Even the stuff from “.new” is in the code it is still not active . No problemo.
Thank you very much.

Hi gents!
Can anyone please explain to me what the option “save 73” stands for?
Also, I’m trying to create a new “save1.cam” from a “save0.cam” file and, so far, I’m not able to.
I open the save0.cam, change the name in the “Campaign” tab in “Scenario” and “Saved Name” slots from save0 to save1 and then save the file.
So far, so good.
But when I exit MC and the reopen it to load the save1.cam it gives me this error:
Any help would be very appreciated.
Cheers, Nuno
EDIT: I’ve just noticed that the error only occurs when I hit the “Create New Primary List” button. MC creates the primary objectives list without any issue but if I save, exit and then reload the file, the error persists.

I thought it was for BMS 4.73?
-
New version of MC released.
Latest version is 0.5.8.384.Enjoy,
Falcas

AFAIK , that .73 is Falcon campaign file version , for BMS should be always 73…(???). probably is there because of MC’s compatibility to work with different versions of Falcon’s campaign files (F4org, F4AF, F4OF etc…)
But if the file(s) already loaded as 73 , you can see in status bar (FileVer:…) , … MC will probably SAVE as 73, as default loaded,… Dear Falcas could know the truth
@Falcas,
Please do something with ‘hand’ icon when over multiple units close together on map , it seems that ‘action box’ over the unit icon (when replacing pointer cross with hand icon) is just too small and very hard to pinpoint with cursor, let alone Right-click 90% percent of time results in ‘Change Area’ menu (like right-click and drag the rectangle)…, rather then ‘Unit selection’ menu which is VERY VERY useful for units stacked near same place, imho.
(out of thin air… could be some mess-up with the zoom fuction along with resize of the unit icon, so action box isn’t resized at all)THANKS for the New Looks , well its awesome
HA… And VERY Thanks for ‘Marking’ manual-controlled units with white rectangle… as was long long time before … Now just to implement that BACK in BMS !!
-
Hey,
Yes 73 is the file version.
Nothing to worry about and no need to use it.About the map functions and mouse… yes that will still improve in the future.

Thank you Falcas,
it’s really a great tool. -
Hello gents.
I’m building a new campaign for POH, but would like to know how to change the red and blue colors through Mission Commander for the JSTARS window for the teams, and so far I haven’t been able to do it.
Can anyone shed some light on this, please?
Thank you, any help will be much appreciated.

Hi!
Thanks for the reply, Bad Boy.
But my doubt is this: French units have always showed up as blues forces in the JTARS window, and somehow, while I was working on the campaign in MC, I must have changed something and the units now show up as red forces.
And that’s what I was trying to understand, what did I touch to change it.
I’m finishing a campaign in which Morocco is at war with Algeria. Morocco is team #6 and Algeria team #7. Is it possible to assign team#6 as blue and team#7 as red (and I mean in the JSTARS map), or this can’t be changed?
Or do I have to move Morocco from team#7 to team#2 for it to become blue?
How are the BLUE/RED colors assigned? BLUE for teams #1 through #4 and RED for teams #5 though #7, for example?
Sorry in advance for so many colourful questions, but my brain is becoming bloody red with all this…:D
Thank you.

Basically :
Team#2 is blue
Team#6 is redIf you want to assign more teams (team#1, team#3, etc) to be in blue side then make them as “allied” to team#2 (teams relation)
If you want to assign more teams (team#4, team#5, etc) to be in red side then make them as “allied” to team#6 (teams relation)
