Yesterday’s night HVAA DCA CAP got a lot more intense than we anticipated, and as far as I can recall, the first time in my 6,5 years of BMS that I was sweating after a mission. We weren’t expecting a lot of opposition, so instead of setting up a single 4SHIP CAP, we decided to perform yoyo ops (2 aircraft go to refuel, while the other 2 set up the CAP) for maximum station time. Station time was initially projected at 60 minutes, with possible extension if fuel and weapons allowed.
… Spoiler alert … We didn’t make it to 60…
Unfortunately, we lost number 4 immediately during take-off due to technical issues, and in one of the most gut-wrenching moments I’ve ever experienced as a flight lead, we lost number 3 during the Sierra Hotel.
As it’s a rather long recording, some timestamps:
00.00: Take-off
05.45: AAR rejoin en top-off
18.05: First contacts probing us
31.00: Second engagement
36.45: Third engagement
42.10: Fourth engagement and Winchester
48.10: Sierra Hotel
1.03.00: Egress -

Attempt at mixing live Tacview sequences with cockpit footage during most of a mission. Rather glad with the result.

General situation:
After much turmoil, Hungary and Serbia have begun its invasion of Eastern Croatia. Airspace intrusions by Bosnia-Herzegovina have also been observed in the center of the country.
Now facing 2 possible fronts, NATO has set up a new logistics route on the Western peninsula, via the Ports of Portoroz and Pula.Task:
The task for TIGER 31 (3-ship) is as follows:
Protect SPOD and approaching vessels by manning a CAP in designated AOR from 0100L to 0200L.Small teaser:

▬▬▬ Falcon BMS EPIC Trailer + Ground Ops Story Cinematic ▬▬▬
Air Combat Simulation Falcon BMS 4.33 with Ground Ops ONE ongoing Cinematic Story (PC 720p)
Air Combat Games: ■ Falcon BMS 4.33 ■ Ace Combat: Assault Horizon
Ground Ops Games: ■ Far Cry 5 ■ Battlefield 4 ■ Battlefield 3 ■ Rainbow Six Siege ■ Arma 3 [Exile / Zombie mods]
▬▬▬▬▬▬▬ Development ▬▬▬▬▬▬▬
This video, the entire process of recording and editing took me 3 months. I started this project first of all for me to create a unique epic video about the games i am currently enjoying, first to mention of course Falcon BMS 4.33 and also Far Cry 5, Rainbow Six Siege.2nd reason i did this is because i wanted to share it with my friends, specifically i got some requests by friends who are interested to see me in any modern fighter jet from F-14 to F-35 to take off, navigate, combat and landing on a Carrier without crashing …… but instead of jump in a F-16 and show them an 1-hour mission when they visit me at home…or instead just send friends links of already existing Falcon BMS youtube videos, I decided to create my very own epic and cinematic trailer/video - which now became my very own Falcon BMS EPIC Trailer + Ground Ops story, with my favorite fighter jets. and went further, also including a Ground Ops part which is the second half of the video.
3rd and last i found it worthy to share this with anybody who is interested in these games or wanna start one of these games. And for any viewer’s pleasure who likes gaming or cinematic gaming trailer etc… Also to mention the epic heroic music.
I hope you guys will enjoy.

A plane that was made from Russian Titanium (lol) yup its true
Jack Ryansky:
- Wait. This is our titanium?
- Made in the USSR.
-
Ehm… not quite.
They didn’t “import” titanium itself , but rather technology for production its alloy(s), probably industrial espionage, was very popular those days… today too
Only USSR metal superpower had knowledge how to use titanium back then , of course with other materials , to create its alloy usable for use with something like plane. Mig-25 was the first operating build from Titanium alloy, other than that … it wasn’t quite the fighter but interceptor for US spyplanes…. , until some traitor flew to the Japan and US stolen the plane.
You can imagine how the Russians were pissed, probably “traitor’s” whole family ended up in Siberia.
Mig-25 was also known to shoot down that Boeing 747 over Korea-USSR border, killing everyone onboard, which was also “THE RUSE” for US spyplane to “sniff” Ruskies airdefence systems, but whole case was “presented” as navigation-communaciton error… with lots of casulties… non-LOL
So, back to SR71, … you cant just use original Titanum because it is very very hard and also “fragile” , you can’t “bend” it because of hardness, but its alloy with probably Aluminium and what not was perfect for withstanding great heat produced by supersonic, also hypersonic flight.
Even USSR’s ALFA (not Akula) submarine was build from Titanium , not only because of its hardness and it also has not magnetic properties , so no MAD sensor can pick her up from airplanes. It was the deepest and fastest attack sub back then in the world. (maybe today)
She could outrun US torpedoes like joke ;)… she had “liquid-metal” cooled reactors (don’t know exactly what metal, maybe Mercury of sort), UNIQUE even today … only Brit’s , think it’s “Spearfish” torpedo capable of 80 !!! kts , was the threat to Alfa.
Khm… yes, back to planes, so… no Titanium was imported from USSR but the tech to create its alloy was (stolen …khm… robbed…) , “acquired” by US … and of course … reverse engineering of Mig-25, so no Espanol mumbo-jumbo.
Cheers

Technically a BMS 4.33 video.
Unfortunately, recording software wasn’t set up for my PTT, and I only thought about it after I couldn’t change it anymore, so you get only half the story. Even though you can’t hear my voice, you’ll notice from my interaction with the UI (which is far from ideal for GCI purposes) that I was struggling at times.

Cantoo, could you make a video for dealing with pop up sams with mavericks? IE as I suppose in real life harms would be used for suppression of air defences, with weapons like LGB’s or mavericks actually used for the shutting down of sam sites. Off the top of my head I can think of two ways to identify sam sites without a pre set mark point; The first would be to utilise a two ship, in lead trail formation, so that the lead jet gets engaged by the pop sam threat first with the wingman creating a visual or TGP markpoint from the sam smoke trails/launch flash(evident in your video). Then all the two ship has to do is extend and refine the wingmans markpoint further for using mavericks.
The other way I can think of is to create a rough visual markpoint from using the had pod, which can be refined as you close the range to the sam you’re engaging. IE Lock up emitting threat in had, you will see a visual cue in the hud, eyeball this location(if you’re near enough there maybe geographical details to pinpoint further)then create a hud mark point. From the hud markpoint you can use the TGP to refine further, hopefully seeing the sam site in your TGP page! I guess these two techniques may work well against static sam emplacements, but will be complicated if the sam sites are mobile, as in the case of the 2s6’s. Anyway I would be curious and grateful to see what you could come up with in dealing with pop up sam sites. -
