I don’t think either. But some of us discussed about “should we” invite him. It could have been a good idea (?) … maybe he is a very nice guy (talented he seemed to be). Maybe he would have been another “character” (with a strong personality which doesn’t necessarily mean a big ego) like the one already present in the team … But hard to welcome someone after reading what he wrote. He just confirmed that in would have been a bad idea to do so. When someone form the team leave the party (whatever the reason), he does not sabotage what he did. Case closed.
Again… Live goes on.
It would have been declined. Just as it was declined when I was approached by someone quite some time ago concerning my interest or the possibility of it. My work was removed because I was told in no uncertain terms it wasn’t needed. Which is reiterated below by Mav. He knows best right? So no point leaving it all lying about. My other comments were all removed specifically to avoid instances like this… 3 year old posts drug up from the grave and placed in a post out of context by someone trying to prove a point. If someone reads that entire thread, and knows the backstory about why the thread existed to begin with, my comments are much less “scratchy”
The community has the right to know that this guys pissed in our pants on other forums far before the event for why he has been banned - i will provided the link once again.
This guy accused me of beeing a CANCER to the community - thank you very much - i’ve done more in 20 years for falcon that he will ever do in his entire life ! actually i am sure that i am doing more in 1 month that he will ever do in his entire life
The guy claimed we at BMS were a bunch of incompetant arrogant morons and that he could do far better than us on the code. I dont think that 4.34 release is confirming our incompetence on the matter
Ok where is his tool for lodeditor replacement ? project launched 2 years ago ? where is the result ? nowhere !
and by the way, we wont need this tool at all !!
So please , dont mislead the community here about the event , i dont feel beeing the bad guy here !
And I stand by my comments. Every one of them. This is exactly why the comment was made to begin with. Because you are all about YOU. What YOU have done. All the things YOU know better than everyone. What YOU need… nevermind what the rest of the community needs. Unfortunately what YOU do is treat community members like crap and fill the forums with negativity. YOU got personal and offensive and I got banned for returning the attack. That’s the part you conveniently left out of your Reader’s Digest version. No skin off my back though, you’re just a name on the screen to me
The project was completed as far as it could be without knowing exactly how the new DB structures and models were going to turn out. As you stated several times, it apparently isn’t needed (Which is probably why there hasn’t been a single thread asking how to modify the DB in .34 right?). Why put work into something nobody wants? It did everything I wanted it to do, and if I ever get the urge to modify it the rest of the way for .34 it will continue to do exactly what I designed it for.
Not that it matters, because I’m sure this post will probably get deleted when I get banned again shortly, but just to clarify I am in no way associated with FO, trying to reach me through their forums will not work because I haven’t logged in to them in a years. Unfortunately this is likely to land me a slightly more permanent “break” from the forums, so I doubt anyone will be able to contact me if they wanted to… but again, as Mav has stated, there is no need to anyway because I have nothing to offer.
-
Not finishing your work when you have put so much time and effort into it seems a real shame when there clearly are a lot of people in the wider community who would welcome it and benefit from it. The recipient of your ire may indeed not need it so abandoning the project will not affect him, but your application could be extremely helpful for the majority who might not have the skills/knowledge/patience to work with the outdated tools that are the alternative.
If everyone chose to withhold release every time there was a falling out Falcon would have died a long time ago. If we’re here because we want to keep Falcon 4 alive hopefully these minor annoyances wont make us lose sight of the bigger picture.

You have clearly abolutly no idea of what you are talking about.
Those statements are ridiculous, i think many people could testify how much help i brought to them , how much i have supported community ideas inuto the BMS development, and how much thousands of hours i have spent to implement community ideas that I didnt care about.
I dont know if you are proud of you , but considering i lost my stepmum from cancer 1 month before your words and having my wife crying every night because of this disease , believe me it hurted me badly.
You are clearly one of the reason i decided to stop developing , investing 20 years of my life to be treated like shit by people like you.
again, you can be proud of yourself , well done monsieur , your mission is accomplished , i wont pollute BMS code with my cancer hands anymore.

I can indeed testify. And I am young in the team compared to him (I joined the team in 2010).
In some ways, even if it was a bit harmful for the mental sanity, I will miss our nights, after an entire day of RL work, spending time with you on TS until two - tree o’clock in the morning with only 4 -5 hours of sleep, in a incredible fast process of development, almost in real time (if not literally in real time) … working, implementing, and debugging so many things … AI time management, weather, wing flex, radar & SAMs, taxi branches … etc … etc … etc … you absence will (I have unfortunately no doubt about it) put a serious brake to many aspects of the sim. Some could be still enhanced, I have no idea who will take care of it.But I hope that you will still be there … at least to guide BB and I and other friends on some things we still do not fully master … (I am just in the process of adding the new Taxi/Hold data on the Dev branch and even if Homer already knows how to proceed, it is so much faster and easy to be simply with you on Dev TS) …
Jp … I will never be able to give you back all what you have offered me. All the smiles on my face when testing one of your new stuff … priceless.
To me, the “cancer of BMS” is the way we are approaching this forum. Many of the other Devs/coders do not participate (or much less). Maybe it is their secret to stay cool and motivated. In an 24H day, one can’t actively participate tho the community’s life and the same time working like you do without loosing brain cells and still be kind with the some of the ppl who are criticizing while they have literally offer nothing yet to the community. We have our parts of responsibilities … sometimes we are guilty of rudeness. But it is not possible to spend more time trying to explain everything in an extensive way and kind way.
Mortesil, I am sorry about the fact that our communication didn’t matched, and sorry that our words had hurt you. But yours hurt us, and apparently at the worse moment. You choose to stop. Your decision. Now it our turns to choose if we want to continue investing that amount of time and efforts.
Jp, going easier on dev is certainly wise. I don’t think it is becasue of Mortesil, IMO it was just the “trigger”. We have some other examples where families suffered from that passion. Better stop before it is too late. I know that BMS is part of your life and I have a small idea how many hours of your life you’ve offered to it. But one have to keep in mind that, after all … it is “just” a sim … a “video game”. (but what a damn tough video game! )
Kind regards to all of you.

IMHO y’all should sit back and take a deep breathe……IN REAL LIFE!!!
Then come back to “IT”…
@Mav…sorry for your loss…but, time will heal it.
@Deej…3rd paragraph is spot on, But it has happened continually on most Forums throughout the past two decades…Sigh!
@Mortesil, In my time on “Teams” many thing’s I developed and presented were scoffed at or dismissed by the “Powers that Be” on those Teams. Discouraging? Yes. Getting me kicked from the table? Yes.
Did I stop developing my ideas…NO!!! Kept going and provided the communities with what I had. Whether it was code “HACK’s” …LOL! or just tip’s or trick’s in the DB, I put them out there. Like my friend ED_1 stated to me a Loooong time ago “Not everyone is going to like what you just did” or something like that…LOL! Doesn’t matter really, as long as it is out there.Kind Regard’s,

I always say to Devs: No matter what you do, DON’T burn yourself out. Just don’t, it doesn’t worth it. If you feel that you need a pause, take a break, get the hell off from everything and come back with new powers. Things will delay? so they will! No one will die.
Although some people think otherwise, we are not in competition with anyone, and the 4.34 release and the funny state of DCS just proves to me that there will NEVER be replacement for BMS as the best F-16 simulator. There is always another mountain to climb, but we will keep moving forward, that is our power and our choice.
Cheers!

… problem is: it could also be some kind of addition. And sometimes I realize that.
Well … back to Dev duties, I have to honor Jp’s latest taxi branches features and Malc’s work … and Polak … and Nove … and … and …

Just a small thought from a newbie member (if compared to you all): +10000.
Taking a deep breath and a proper amount of time would be of any help?
Anger might be a real beast and can drive us to tell (or do) things we never wanted to in any other circumstancies, you already know well. With best regards.

Yeah. Sorry 'bout that, man…

You are clearly one of the reason i decided to stop developing , investing 20 years of my life to be treated like shit by people like you.
Please always bear in mind there are a lot of people who are not active on this (or any, like me) forum. For those people, your work is greatly appreciated and treated with deep respect. I personally recognize Falcon BMS as one of the most successful software I’ve ever had on my drive since last 25+ years of my computer use. So let some random guy on internet thank you for your work, right here, in some random thread.

I’m fully demotivated as well

The written word in absence of context and inflection and delivered in a language foreign to comfort and facility, is certainly a way to foment anger and misunderstanding.
Always read giving the benefit of the doubt. Even if you are wrong, you are right.

Timewind, you have had a great point indeed here, if I daresay.
The same could be addressed to PumpyHead, told this by another one for whom English won’t ever be his native language.
And, well, this now is positively NOT the usual problem afflicting all the sim communities here and there we all use to experience and know, but something more serious. BadBoy underlined it out, and his is a sentence and a loud scream in disappointing at the same time, to my own eyes at least.Long live Falcon?
Just my quarter of a cent.
With wishes to our common passion and best regards to all.

you already know well.
I cautiously assume you refer to my not so long ago DCS “trip”. if no, then this post is a mistake, but if yes then, I’ll tell you this:
That DCS ride was born from an initial post that I felt like an insult to BMS. If someone does that on the outside (FB, DCS, twitter, whatever), I don’t care much and just shrug it off, but doing that HERE isn’t acceptable in my eyes, and so I fired back, and from there it rolled out into some ugly back and forth posts. I believe in a polite conversation, but once I feel aggression, then I return with the same coin.
As for general “time out” for developers, yes I think that may be necessary if someone feels “burned out” - I know because I did it once and it really helped me.
However, a Dev must have still that spark in him in order to continue, because working for free on a demanding piece of SW like BMS is demanding, sometimes more than RL work. So if that internal spark is lost, I don’t know if something can be done. -
Do it like Leech. Keep it low here, and stay active elsewhere.;)

Dear I-Hawk,
thanks a lot for what you have explained and for all those you gave to our community in years, most of all.
Yes, I already had all clear in my mind about the meaning of this topic, if I can express myself this way. And I’m aware that more than someone at DCS is behaving aggressively against BMS and all what this one can mean. That’s worse is that this is DCS devs.'s behaviour, almost unbeliavable but unacceptable in any case.
Their loss.
About your last point, I couldn’t agree more, if I daresay. Sad, perhaps, but not for this less true. With best regards.
