4.34 U1 How to update Theaters with new ATC
-
The new U1 changelog lists 2 main changes to the type of info read from “Stations+ils.dat”:
- Frag ID of Ground, Tower, Approach are no more read from the eval.xml but from the Stations+ils.dat.
- ATC agencies names are now defined in Station+ils+dat.
As such 3 new data fields have been added to the lines of said file:
<tower_frag><ground frag=“”><approach frag=“”>Now, as a newbie 3rd party Theater dev I have a few questions:What does Frag ID define and where can I find it in order to create a new “Stations+ils.dat” file from a given Theater DB?
Where is the ATC Agency name defined? Is it the same as Frag ID?
What is needed for the new ATC system to recognize taxiway letters and runway numbers and use them in its taxi clearances?
Kuwait UOAF ATC for example presents the issue of not stating taxiways or even runway number in its taxi clearances, i.e: “Falcon1, good afternoon, taxi” or “Falcon1, taxi and hold short”. Interestingly enough tower will tell you the runway number just fine when giving a TO/Landing clearance.</approach></ground></tower_frag> -

As far as I read in another thread, using the Editor to implement stuff on the airbase objective. Additionally, there could be a bug in the Editor. I think you’ll get a clear answer to this in 3 - 4 weeks.

Good question.
I hope someone of the Devs to reply.
Thank you.

Say for example, the three numbers were 2528, 2436, 2482 - you can refer to the F4Talk95v1-0-0.csv in the Sounds directory to search the file for these three numbers, you’ll see they refer to Kunsan Airbase. For a new airbase, such as King Khalid Military City, you would need to record sound frags and add them to falcon.tlk file first - if you really want to go down that road(!) let me know and I’ll assist in adding them.

It is worth remembering though, not every iteration is available yet (this is coming soon…) If the runway description is in the csv file, this should be fine. If not, please be more specific about which runway you are expecting to hear called out.
With regards to taxiway lettering, at this time better not to mess with these. Please hold on for 3-4 weeks. We’ve managed 20 years without, another couple of weeks won’t hurt

There is no bug in the taxiway lettering code
There is one issue at choonwon .
There might be a bug in the editor which sometimes messes up the taxiway lettering , especially when import / export

I am not sure if this is the right thread but, I am still having problem with ATC and my air base model. Althought I edited the ListType values, tower still does not sound the actualy runway numbers.

Nikos.I’m joining myself to good Nikos here.
Oh, and a warmest welcome to this Community, Rusher, by the way.
Well done with your first post here. No offense to anyone, of course, but, as everyone recognizes us… (you all know how this sentence ends )
With best wishes and regards.

You need to setup your station+ils.dat file with the correct frag numbers
-
How I am going to find correct frag numbers?

Thanks! I’ll look into implementing new sounds some other time since I regard it as low-priority for ATC usability for now. Will gladly keep the offer in mind though

My testing has been centered around Ras Safaniya AB (since it’s the main airbase for our events), its only runway is 14-32, but has 18-36 numbers on its thresholds that seem identical to those of the Kunsan runway. If by runway description you mean the “runway 3-2” sound frag listed in “F4Talk95v1-0-0.csv” then it is present, but doesn’t get played by Ground.
I don’t understand which RnwyListType attribute defines the runway number that is called out, “runway number” can’t be set higher than 10 and everything else appears unrelated (looking at the “Airbase 32_14” Objective in Kuwait DB, which appears identical to Ras Safaniya in 3d, playing around with values also did have an effect on Ras Safaniya spawn locations).I found the “Terrdata\ATC” folder which contains [ABname].dat files, what is their purpose in relation to the DB-Objective RnwyListType attributes? Could adding custom .dat files for Kuwait airbases help with the issue at hand?
You need to setup your station+ils.dat file with the correct frag numbers
So what does the frag number define exactly? If I understood Malc correctly it only refers to the voice sound file of the AB’s ATC entity name i.e: “Kunsan Tower”, “Kunsan Ground”.

Ok, I found the frag numbers. But I cannot find the values that I supposed to change:(

Yes, Station+ils file refers to only air base names. I did not find anywhere for runways headings.

As usual, don’t bother editing these kinds of file with a text editor, use MC to work on them.
