Hi Manos,
Any chance we will get to see this gorgeous P-3B and P-3C included in a future BMS release?

Hello Manos,
if you want, I can help you to finish this model ?
If you need anything from KBT, just let me know it, he is a good friend of mine !
I think we could put it in our DB…
Cheers,
Radium

Amen.
A new era for naval warfare.

How many tris it has now? Don’t lower too much, it’s a big plane and we can spare some.

have to see i dont remember
I have 3 or 4 different exported. 1 if i remember well (B) is at 45k C its gonna be way more cause of the different belly holes (i know they can be just on the skin but its that good?) Raptor can help has the latest B.
Im sure i can make better and lower at tris now that i have the knowledge and the tools needed just saying…. -
Cool, what I mean is:
Don’t reduce quality - If you can optimize then you must for the sake of performance and your own professionalism, but not on behalf of quality
It’s a large plane, usually you won’t have a 4-ship flying together, right? so it can use extra tris over the traditional 30K, assuming it helps with quality. -

So as said ~45k For the B model and 50,5 for the C as is now if i add more details the C has maybe about 2k more… but i will see what i can reduce For the C at least. The thing is that if im gonna give it for stock DB i have to re-dof and re-switch the whole thing cause every dof and switch are “nested” in every mesh and not as external helpers… I wish i had a tool to export as helpers that would save me a lot of time…

45-50K is not much for this relatively large piece of beauty. Of course (and regardless of any other consideration) optimizing your work is the right and professional way to go by, but no need to loose details. 3D models that you build these days are aimed to live for at least a decade a head, hopefully we will be less limited as time goes by, so we should think of the future as well

100% agree
To add in m opinion we are already less limited.
As im saying for the last years the 30k Poly limit is nonsense in 2020.
2 + 1 main reasons:
1. Almost every average PC runs ok even games that are many more times deamanding to the graphics than BMS. Even a 11 year old notebook PC like mine runs BMS with hight detail polys around 40 fps
2. The limit exist until 4.33 so that even with hardcore theaters ( like Balkans / Israel etc etc) didnt bust the 2GB DB limit. Sinsce4.34 the limit is gone and more hight detail models can be added no sweat. The 3rd reason is even if counteracted by better graphics cards and PC´s still an issue that is the old based rendering code used in BMS ( original F4) than managed poorly the graphics ( I.E. the same environment founded in BMS if run in a more powerful and recent graphics engine the FPS wold be higher).
But that’s not a showstopper i guess.Look at Janhas work, Manos work, my work also. All above 30k polys.
And in that note i really appreciate very much Manos effort to accomplish such good models maintaining the imposed limits. -

I’ll even get more specific and say: The way that geometry is processed by the CPU and sent for rendering. That is the key point of improving performance and thus allowing more detailed content. We will get there as well.

It would be awesome to have a beautiful P-3C in BMS as it would also be quite relevant to the standard Korea theater as both Korea as Japan operate the Orion.
Japanese P-3Cs do have an extra hump on their backs and unfortunately lost their colorful white/grey markings about a decade ago, to replaced by a dull glossy grey without any unit markings applied.
But with the introduction of the P-1, the Japanese Orion is nearly at the end of its service so I was quite happy to catch this one of the Japanese Navy training school at Shimofusa -
It would be awesome to have a USN VP-47 skin in the AIP update.
Retired after 20yrs as a SS-3 RADAR operator and served 2 tours with VP-47. Would be cool to fly in formation with one in BMS.Dave

Hi Manos!
Would it be possible when time permit to get a Japanese version for KTO?
…
And if you can … (later) a US Navy skin also? (Optional)
-
ROK does operate them also…

Thanks for the interest. I said i will do my best for it to become part of the db. Therefor it will take time as in the current state it can’t be submitted. No good PSD for the skins, not enough references on my end, needs to be re-dofed and re-sweitched and ofcourse make the lower lods. Basically is like making it almost from scratch and i do have some dof ideas that they will give a bit of extra touch in realism. Its definately not dead as a project… actually none of my projects are. But most of them either need a lot of stuff re-do or needs re-build ot the same problem as this one (witch for me is the main) “nested” in the geometry Dofs ‘n’ switches. The base model is ready but i have to find the time and mood to get it “fixed” Maybe some new and better UV mapping than the one currently witch is MS-FS one but in 1 texture…
Cheers

No rush. In BMS, time is not money.;)
Radium told me that he is in contact with you about it. I am sure he will not forget it
Thank you Manos for your good work and contribution!!!

a hint of working ASW code?
