Hate to ask but…future BMS update progress snapshot?

Some, think anything done on a computer is a game. ……
Some people think real life is a game. I prefer to think it’s a simulation.

…I think that’s a totally correct Covid-driven conclusion.

Firstly, Buzz, shame on you .Secondly, if you all will excuse me, I must be anti-koan( koanless? non-koan?) for a moment, and be logical. If you do a Goggle search for flying video games, guess what, Falcon 4 is on the list. Gasp!. So, technically BMS is a game. BUT, once again being koan and speaking from my heart …. BMS is much more then a game to me and most of the people on this page.
It’s like the old saying “If it walks like a duck, swims like a duck, etc. it’s a duck” Well, I submit to my BMS compadres that we make it a sim by our devotion, level of interest, and dedication.
How’s THAT for koan?Dude……you just went koan supernova…see what you just did? We’re all koan-fecked now. God damn it drtbjk!

Well depends on the aspect.
Falcon is registered as a game officially and not an application like office.
As an app it’s a simulation.
As a user is both, depending on how you use it and a third thing plugs in which is hobby.
As a dev believe me there is a whole lot of study and a lot of play.Sent from my MI 5 using Tapatalk

I still like this image that somebody posted a while back. I think it sums up “game” vs. “flight sim” vs. “study” pretty well, or at least how a sim like BMS might be perceived by various people.

well nice pic but still no dev aspect in it.
ppl keep forgetting that like BMS it’s a company and they see the coin from one side, the user side.
Well the coin has 3 sides…
One aspect is community developer in general or theater developer and the other left is the BMS developer team aspect.
Uncle BMS Needs YOU!!!Start your contribution today to continue the great legacy and advance it even farther… Sky is the limit

who wants me for beta tester lol

@vfp:
who wants me for beta tester lol
We are all beta testers in this SIM, but it’s a completely different GAME.

Ppl do not realize that Btest = end of fun, end of pleasure, only dedication and lot of frustrations. Otherwise, they can’t be good and efficient Btester.
Keep that in mind. When each flight you start ends in CTDs … weeks flight becomes rather a kind of chore, end they are there to avoid that pain to end users after release. then … after release, we jump on the other branch, everything restarts again.
I didn’t made a serious mission from A to Z since few years. (Not sure I am a good Btester though. ;))

At least we’d all write proper bug reports :P.
Yes, it is humour.

I didn’t made a serious mission from A to Z since few years.
Reason why maybe BMS team would need more Btesters .
I haven’t enough knowledge to create a program and offer it to the community .
However, I can fly .
So, unless one day I’m able to propose smg like a software for BMS , a new model or a pit (who knows ? maybe one day or later …) , I would be glad to volunteer for this task .
If you ever need a test pilot, count me in (plus, I have already done this kind of task for the admins of one of my virtual airline . And I liked it ….)

And trying over and over again to come up with a reliable repo case so the bug can be caught and squashed.

In a larger aspect the whole community are btesters.
There are the core testers of bms for new features and replication of new or old or community bugs… but we all r btesters.
The majority of the falcon database and 3d database could use an overhaul and besides airplanes and airbases there are zilion of models needed. So besides new code things there are many many aspects in the falcon world.
only for 3d models there are many aspects.
study and info collection for the model.
3d model creation
Lods
dof’s
switches
material setup (on model and on texture properties)
Damaged
Destroyed
unwraping
texturing
hitbox and params needed in db (like light or dat files or whatever)
all the above must comply to falcon prerequisites and modeling.
exporting for falcon
importing to falcon
testing the model in real world
Then provide the whole resources and model and textures and lods and parameters to the team to be checked and imported to the db.similar is for every thing like campaign testing, objectives, weapons, squadrons etc each with each unique procedure and prerequisites.
Since this is a massive subject and the knowledge passes from one to another and BMS team helps and provides details to community contributors what is needed is to dive in and try to fight and win the monster.
Needs the stamina and devotion to try as much as possible to find the way by your self searching around, asking and trying to achieve an acceptable result.
When u get stack just say so someone will popup and assist. Have in mind all those guys are facing such challenges almost every day for years and they also try their best and we all enjoy the results.
So it’s our moral duty for each one of us in the falcon community to contribute besides the use of it the way we can.
we are not saying do it or else… but by community contribution and devotion the pool of contributing members gets refilled and the legacy continues on and advances to new levels by guys that devote significant amount of time on this.
it’s not done just my a magic wand wave. -
