Spooky ATC ghost voice in Balkans?
-
It occurs usually during taxi/takeoff/landing, ATC will give a normal call but in the middle of it, in a much lower tone, there are 2-3 words interjected/spoken neither I or my human MP wingman can quite interpret. Are we the only ones being haunted?
-
Maybe it’s the spoken airport name.
Balkans is not an original Falcon 4.0 Theater.
Airport names like ‘Gioia del colle’ or ‘Amendola’ had to be inserted into existing radio calls.
If it wasn’t quite a hell of a work, I am sure the dev team would have corrected those voice jumps a while ago. -

Actually, you could also read the radio calls displayed as text, unless you have deactivated this function.
Maybe this could be helpful. -

Maybe this could be helpful. It’s not in the text, it’s like someone inserted a subliminal message into it… very strange.

Okay, now I’m starting to get scared

Actually are recorder base names. Before 4.35.1 version every base name announced by tower as “key mike”, meaning no sound file for the name of the base was present. In current version the names of the bases are recorded in files, so if you fly from aviano for example, atc will not tell “key mike”, but the actual base name.
-
Radio subtitles have been off in my game, so I never noticed the “key mike”. But that makes sense. Does that mean that they just skipped the airbase name before? Now since there’s a recording, it airbase name is being said and that’s why I’m noticing it.
It’s weird, because I could have sworn that I head “Amendola”, “Brindisi Casale” in the game before, but that could have been Falcon 4.0 Allied Force though. I assume those sound files cannot be used due to licensing issues -
I used to hear them in 4.33. Then there could have been Korean names instead, I can’t remember.

Here is the audio ICER is referring to. I flew this mission with him. Listen at the 14 second mark. As tower is clearing us, it comes in. This is just one example. Happen other times not in connection with any game supplied audio.

That is a self-made record by the Balkans team. All you hear is humain voices, almost all recorded back for Falcon 4.0. Obviously Balkans airbase names can’t be in that.
Amadeus told you already:
-
The Balkans Theater has most if not all of the airbase names recorded as sound frags for both male and female, it has been this way since Balkans for SP4 at least. They were never “seamless” with the rest of the voice sound frags for the simple reason they were recorded by a 3rd party and not by the same voice actors who did the Korea ones. The only way to have them fit properly would have been to record all ATC related frags again which was well beyond the realms of possibility.

Thx Nac, no way that is saying Brnik!

Oh but it does, it is just pronounced in a such cute and womanly , and non-theater but an american english native accent by our dear theater BOSS , Mr. Cougar
Yeah, I agree that it sounds tired as he probably was… but if you are able to record better ones, in Balkans native accents (slavic), like Italian, Croatian, Bosnian , Serbian, I think Cougar will be glad to import them into theater.
So would need, like, how much voices? - that is question for Cougar … ATC has probably 2 or 3 ??? - man/woman … so, for every airbase 2 samples , mix’n’match…
Cheers

That is not quite true/correct… it is not the only way… eg… I still have Falcon"Allied Force" installed on my comp… and it has COMPLETE voiceover for Balkans , … of course not for new renamed airbases, there are a few,…
…but for all airbases from original theater… so we count some ?? ~50 ? yes…Now, only problem that their talk file is somewhat different then original/bms falcon’s, so, would need to hack a way to extract … (I… sniff… admit, have tried and failed) … would have to do it hardcore way … record comms ingame … like, NOT …
So… if any of yours have any idea how to h4ck into foreign talk file and chop it out in audio samples … please do IT … those are all good voices … I know.

… Ok, cleaned my ears and you are right (of course), she is saying “Brnik Tower” if I have it right…?
