F-14D Cockpit
-
Hello mykinge
Great work on the pit
Stock BMS F-16 3D pit is ~80k triangles with all knobs and switches. why people keep on thinking 30k is a limit is beyond me. Low poly modelling should be a thing of the past.
I guess a new pit could use up to 120k polys.Take care.

Thank you all guys.
Diagnose, dislocated and partially broken right hip, plus a few ribs, and some muscular damage to neck.
For the motorcycle enthusiast, I have/had a Honda Hornet. I had Integral helmet and thanks god because I landed face first and have a broken lip from hitting the inside of the helmet. ALWAYS WEAR INTEGRAL HELMETS. My jacket and the gloves are also ruined but protected me quite well.
Thanks again!

Heal up buddy. You sure are right a about helmets. I know more than one rider who has been saved by those integral units. Hopefully your bike can be repaired and youāll be able to ride again at a future date.

Hey, wanna my avatar pic to stick there in your room front wall?

take it easy and hope your recovery is full and swift

I wish you a full recovery man.

Hold on, I am sure you will be riding a bike again soon. I am a biker too (KAWASAKI Z750), and I know well that car drivers often donāt care much about us. I totally agree with you mate, it is a must, ALWAYS wear protective clothes because they save your life. But after all you have been very unlucky. Two days ago a fallow deer crossed the road in front of me, just a couple of meters ahead my noseā¦ I have been very lucky because I would not have been able to dodge that kamikaze deerā¦
I wish you a full and quick recovery man!

Hi mykinge, I remember coming off my bike with jut shorts and a shirt on, didnāt even know what had happened to me until i finished checking my bike over. Bike was a right off and always wear gear after that. Speedy recovery man.
-
Full recovery and enjoy your time at home to finish the pitā¦ XD just beeing mean in the last part. Sincerely wish best a quick recovery. hip problems can be a crap and have a slow recovery, but you will overcome it. Think Positive!

āALWAYS WEAR INTEGRAL HELMETS. My jacket and the gloves are also ruined but protected me quite well.ā
You aināt riding a bike if you donāt have scars. It happens. Speedy recovery and thank you for what you do here.

Hi everyone!
Iām back on myā¦crutches again!!! I was discharged from hospital a couple of days agoā¦now 3 months with crutchesā¦thats going to kill meā¦anywayā¦finally homeā¦finally I can get back to my pit Iām still not feeling to good at the moment so no modelling maping now so I think its a good moment to sit back and thinkā¦āHOW DO IT PUT THIS INTO THE SIM???ā
IĀ“ve installed the LOD Editor and the LOD converter for 3ds. IĀ“ve exported the 3d model to lod, save it on my desktop and opened it and I see thisā¦
instead of this with a blue backgroundā¦.
Just kidding I know its not going to be that easyā¦ Just wondering:
1. Where is it taking the textures from?
2. Where should I put my textures so I can preview them in the viewer?
3. Format for textures is dds right?
4. Seems from the image like some normals have changeddā¦what could this be due to?On top of this I opened the LOD editor for the first time todayā¦daunting!!! And found the CT 2745 which according to this (cockpitart 649 folder):
// the LOD models to use.
// F14 simple model CT# 2745 (Parent 1553) not correct use 3757!
cockpitmodel 3007; // the main 3d cockpit model
cockpitdfmodel 3007; // the dogfight variant
cockpitwingsmodel 3004; // the 3d cockpit wings model
cockpitwingsdfmodel 3004; // the dogfight wings variant
mainmodel 1052;// the primary model
damagedmodel 1288; // the damaged modelā¦is the right model right? I see this:
Has anyone with experience in all this, willing to give me a hand, enough patience to send me a PM with some help? ATM I would like just to place maybe my main panel as a testā¦ Reallyā¦ANY help would be great!
Thanks for all your support guysā¦
Pepe on Crutches

Pepe, Iām glad to read you are out of the hospital, even on crutches for the next 3 months.
Surley youāll get qualified help from those who really know how to get your cockpit into BMS,
but Iāll try to give some answers. When you say youāve installed LOD converter for 3ds, then you mean this one, ā¦ right?
https://www.benchmarksims.org/forum/showthread.php?6009-3DS-Max-Exporters-for-BMSThe reason for asking is that in fact there exist an old and AFAIK outdated 3ds2lod.exe
which was used back in the daysā¦.1. If You open a *.LOD from a folder, then the textures should be in the same folder.
2. same as 1
3. correct
4. using the wrong (outdated) converter ???, ā¦ use Daveās tools (donāt miss the tutorials)I hope it helps a little, and I wish you all the best.;)
Cheers,

Hi everyone!
The first this to do is to make sure the textures are set-up correctly in Max. Make sure the textures are named 0000.dds, where 0000 is the texture number you wan to use.
Copy the texture to the <falcon bms=āā>\Data\Terrdata\objects\KoreaObj folder.
The viewer will use some registry entries that LOD Editor creates to find the textures when viewing the model.
You also need to make sure that you have configured the material correctly in Max. The majority of your nodes should be pType 9. Look in the exporter documentation for instructions about how to set-up a material correctly.
