8K texture enhancement for F-16 block 50 (BMS 4.35 U3)

I tested the new textures …and despite the work done, I m sorry to tell that but I m not convinced because I didn’t feel any strong enhancement throught my Odyssey G9 on which we can say the screen resolution is very good …

@suhkoi69 This mod generally improves the readability of the text and the base textures in higher zoom levels. Some example of the untouched area and the reworked:

Maybe referring to a statement from ‘Raptor’.

Yeah that was the one.

The sharper and clearer text is nice, but I’m not a fan of the panel screws and black panels.
Somehow the shiny, metallic screws are sticking out. Is that how it looks like in the real cockpit? Because the current ones are black in the game.
The texture of the black panels looks like it’s been spray painted or really coarse. No idea if that’s how it’s supposed to be in the real jet, but from the few pictures I’ve seen, it always seemed smoother.
Also, the text on the eyebrows seems like it’s a sticker. It’s not really convincing as a light. Looks too sharp. The original one looks like it’s proper backlit.

Dzus fastener looks like this:

@justonce01 yes, those screws were meant to be placeholders only, however they are already black and will be included in the next release.
Regarding the backlit effect my hands are little tied. I spent quite a few hours with several hiqh quality effects I designed which look great really, however all of them requires 16bit color depth textures instead of 8. Basically simulating light spread requires gradients (all sort of) to use and mix, but those do not look realistic with 8bit. I don’t know if the engine supports it at all also. Therefore I have taken back the light spread and instead put readable-from-far versions.
This applies to anything like the master caution button, aoa indexer etc…
Without realtime emitter shaders, there are simply limits. -

Are there plans to tweak the black panel base to look more solid and less grainy (as in the picture above)?

@justonce01 Yes, I’ll experiment with other darker and blurry shades for sure.

@BreakerHUN The engine RPM instrument isn’t updated, and is a black hole at night.

@Tiger-0 Thanks for reporting. Something must have gotten wrong, as it was the very first things I did (see changelog 1.1). I’ll definitely have a look.
There’s gonna be one more update which will close the development for this skin.

Looking forward to it! Thank you!!

Just FYI - This skin is compliant with 4.36
An update is coming soon for the already reported issues.

The textures look great, but I have horrible performance issues with TrackIR when I move my head around the cockpit, everything freezes, especially if I look left and right. No smoothness at all. I have a 3070Ti GPU, so that should not be an issue. Is there any setting that I need to change?

Hhmm… from the few ones I experienced in years of using TIR and nVdia cards, it could be more likely related to a TIR issue, more than your card settings - and a 3070 is very good in rendering, by the way.
Told this at risk to seem until too obvious, but the same… you have already tried to see if this might happen with the stock set of textures, haven’t you?In alternative (and if already tested as above): what your specific custom nVidia settings are? Could you post here a shot taken from nVidia Control Panel, maybe?
With best regards.

Just installed these textures and love them! Thank you!

Just a little notation, and not for criticizing-at-all-costs’ sake:
does it only happens to me that when at 90% of throttle (and since it until AB) its indicator is firmly pointing at 12 o’clock, then far off scale? With best regards.
-
@Jackal yep. But it can’t be texture related because I get the same in the stock pit as well?

Me don’t. All is working fine and with precision with the stock ones though, as it always should instead. Having noticed just that, here I told you what’s happening.
Weird, huh?
Well. Please let me/us know more further, if you kindly would to.With best regards.
