Mission Commander beta release

Timeout guys…
I’ve done that conversion for Baltic and Georgia… If my busy schedule allows it, I’ll try to make a video demonstrating it…
Cheers

You must be kidding us?!
What if not reporting bugs is this thread for?
First mention of the problem with screenshot: https://forum.falcon-bms.com/post/341696
Exception details here: https://forum.falcon-bms.com/post/341774
and here: https://forum.falcon-bms.com/post/342425 (screenshot)
Falcas did show up (I dropped him a PM too), so perfectly aware of the issue, he just did not see a problem with it. -
@MaxWaldorf
Video would be much appreciated.
I’d suggest starting simple with converting TE_15_harm. -

Yes, as Logic said. I’m not sure a video about converting Baltic would be worth your time, as I just converted your Baltic campaign 35 to 36 within a minute with the 5 steps without any of the problems I have with a 35 TE.

This is your error. Good Luck
YES , it is only Korea KTO specific.… but have a thought 'bout it … THINK that someone already mentioned THIS in those previous “10 pages” - so Thank that “unknown” hero! for diZcovery

I already did there.
https://forum.falcon-bms.com/post/342776Now, please, stop stirring things up. You’re not helping anyone.

@LorikEolmin OH YES IT IS…
-only thing I didn’t do is select RIGHT differences between databases, I didn’t feel like as i don’t need it, just to prove it can be done
Presents, right from the oven: “TE_BMS_15_HARM_Planconverted.tac”

Wow, I do hope threads like this never get leaked out to a behavioral psychologist. Reading through this from the sidelines is eye-opening and a bit scary.
But thank you to everyone that kept focusing on the issue and tried to calmly restate the problem as best they could (and those that rationally tried to debug / replicate the issue as best they could).
Thank you @Falcas for wading through this and releasing updates as well.
-
Given the time spent on the subject …
Maybe redoing the TE quickly would have been faster?
Falcas does not take PMs and answers when he can… If there is something to fix, he will…
Now let’s calm down and find alternative solutions…
-
@Zeus Oh I’m pretty sure that psych is already under it… as a matter of fact I’m having a dinner with one also.
Meh, anyways, always remember: “You have to think in Russian”

New version available (quick release) latest version is build 686.
You can get it on the WDP website.I’ll write something about the conversion in a new post, but first things first…
Too much negative things have been going on in this thread lately.
And most of it I must say is just because of lack of patience.
Guys, I have a real life as well. Traveling all over the world non-stop and most of the time only got the option to do something on my laptop. And NO I do not have all versions with me all the time.
Don’t even have 4.36 with me as this is already old to what I am working on.So if something doesn’t work just don’t expect everything to be fixed right away. And yes I do understand you want to progress with your work on your theater or fly your old missions.
But the more nagging is going on, the less motivated I will be to even answer anything
-
Conversion of mission files, what is it all about?
To start off with, remember the first rule.
It has never ever been possible to use or convert any mission file between different versions of Falcon.
And so never expect a conversion to be a simple one click and done feature. Even after a conversion not everything might be perfect. How to do a conversion?
The process is straight forward. Just do the 5 steps as described in MC. Do them exactly else it will not work correctly.
If you do anything else than these 5 steps… well your mess.During the conversion process you will get multiple questions about weapons, vehicles, objective and you name it.
These questions are due to changes in the Falcon database.
Take these questions serious and answer them the best you can.
Skipping this part only makes things worse.
Make use of the options you have here. Each time you get a question like this, you have the option to let MC remember your choice. By selecting “Aways use” MC will not ask you this the next time. and the process becomes quicker and quicker.
In the respective buttons you can see how many you have stored.
For a first time conversion from 4.35 to 4.36 it needed 129 Objectives to be answered.Once the conversion process has been done, the mission file will be set to the latest file version and it will include all the new features which are stored in the files. When you have saved the file, the main process has been done.
However, this does not mean everything is perfect.Let me give you an example. Just sticking to an aircraft here, but the same applies to everything else. Objectives Vehicles, Ships.
You have a mission with an F-16 with a specific loadout.
The database has been changed and maybe this version of the F-16 is totally not available anymore. Or the weapons loaded are not available anymore. Maybe you can have the weapons on this F-16, but not on the hardpoints they where.
As soon as this is the case, MC will ask you to choose what to do.
It will come with a suggestion which is mostly correct. However not always!!!
So in this mission the F-16 had an IRIS-T on station 2. With the database change the IRIS-T has been removed from the aircraft completely. MC will ask you what you want to replace it with.
It will tell you is was the IRIS-T on station 2 and will give you a list of all possible A-A missiles you can choose from.
Replacing it with a AIM-9 or AIM-120 would be a choice you have to make. But this can change the way the mission will become. Using a AIM-120 and suddenly the mission will become easier. MC can’t make that choice so you have to do this.
Also here, make good use of the “Always use” function!!!Then we come to the question if you can convert a running campaign?
SURE YOU CAN!!!
But you must understand with what I have written above, the first few hours of the campaign, will not be perfect. How much you actually notice from this nobody can really answer.
This applies to flights already planned. For all new flight being planned, everything should work normally again. So what can be done after you have converted the mission?
With MC you can always check and change loadouts of aircrafts.
Flight which are still on ground, but also flights which already departed.End word
Without this conversion feature it would never been possible to change the mission files and add the new features we have today.
And yes there are many important features added compared to the original files.
The feature is not perfect (and never will be) but it brought us an enormous progress in options. -
@Falcas
This may be called a fair and explanatory speech.
But - please excuse me for that - have you ever considered to write a full manual about it? It could be a pain, but also even it would avoid to ask you a lot of question, who nows. Thanks a lot, and with best regards.
-
Falcas, huge thanks for that latest version, I was having the TE issue and your fix seems to work so far. Thanks also for the explanation of what’s actually going on, and what it actually wants to replace in each box, those help a ton!

Sorry I have no been able to answer sooner Falcas, I hope you understand I have a busy life, work to do and responsibilities during the day. I don’t have BMS installed at work nor any tool, and can’t take the time to check releases by the second they’re out. I beg you to believe me when I say that the first thing I did was testing to give you feedback, that’s how much I love you. As Ella would sing, Let’s fall in love.
And I oh yes agree about that negativity, I hope you will be heard.
Ah, 686 then, well, what can I do, apart from thanking you?
I couldn’t convert without .idx and .wch in 36 folder (which was a nasty thing to do, but I live in compromise). Now I can (I could for Baltic, but not my point)
I had a unending stroke of “Could not find Objective name…” windows driving to Alt-F4 without them. I have not anymore.
I used to corrupt some of MC features to work a result out for what I needed to do. I am back to pure, angelic use with 686.
In a few words, I couldn’t use the 5 steps alone in 685, it now works like a charm with 686.To sum it up easily: thank you for your time and for fixing it, you’re saving a lot of ours.
Fair winds for your trips, East of the Sun, West of the Moon.

I have successfully used MC Version 686 to convert a KTO 4.35 TE to KTO 4.36, following the instructions provided. The TE converted properly, using the 5 steps listed in the conversion tab. There were no errors.
@Falcas , thank you for your outstanding work on supporting Falcon BMS.
I agree 100% with @LorikEolmin : “thank you for your time and for fixing it, you’re saving a lot of ours. ”Regards,

And what I still can’t figure out , how they didn’t notice that strings ARE NEW. amazing mission “designers” pffft
-
@Falcas Thanks for the new version and explanations! Works for basic TE conversions.
Concerning the negativity and lack of patience, while I see how it might have come across like that, I don’t think anybody really pushed for a fast solution.
All we had hoped for was a quick acknowledgement that there was a problem prior to 686. -
- Thank you for the update and the explanations.
- Another relevant intervention from white_fang. It’s a shame we have to put up with this character’s high level of bullshit every time we visit the forum.

Hah… I suppose what I suppose, but if what I suppose happened, keep in mind that you can block anyone in these forums… the consequences being that you’re down to supposing things could have happen, but that will only be funny.
My train of thoughts about it led me to revise the forums rules, but I can’t find them. Anyway, forget it. Supposing is way more fun ;).
