Falcon BMS Alternative Launcher (Easy Setup, Keep Joystick Assignments)
-
Hi, thx for the update. I’m still getting the F4patch lines as selectable theatres in the launcher. I tried manually removing the lines but no joy. Any fixes?
-
@DennisGRC @chihirobelmo same here I delete the lines and when I start AL they get back in there. Love AL by the way!

This is a known and raised issue with @chihirobelmo .
I believe he had a major PC malfunction, so be patient.

@chihirobelmo Not sure if it was alternate launcher or something I messed up on my own, probably the ladder due to other changes I have been making in parallel with 4.36, but somehow in my Falcon BMS config file the set g_nPOV2DeviceID got set to a DeviceID of 2. It appears this was then in conflict with set g_nPOV1DeviceID which was also set to 2. This resulted in no button presses working when in 3D. AL was detecting the button presses and the button presses were detected and showing correct in the BSM controller settings in the UI. To correct it I changed g_nPOV2DeviceID to 3 and button presses were again working in 3D. Does AL do anything to set the g_nPOV2DeviceID?

So I was able to just reinstall and bind everything manually but the second I try to install and use the alt launcher it messes everything up, and uninstalling it after removes my ability to manually bind axes (buttons are still fine but it won’t remember any axis I bind). If I just don’t use it and play on a fresh install everything is fine but I would really love to be able to use the alternative launcher for changing theaters and stuff! I’m sure these XML files are the problem but I have no idea how to actually fix it.
@chihirobelmo said in Falcon BMS Alternative Launcher (Easy Setup, Keep Joystick Assignments):
@Lavender looking at your config file there are two XML files with different instance GUID. But for BMS they will look for the same productID like you can check with DeviceSorting.txt
-
@Lavender Do you have 2 same joysticks in DeviceSorting.txt when you assign joysticks from the default UI?
-
@zeek AL considers a joystick that has roll axis as g_nPOV1DeviceID and who has throttle as g_nPOV2DeviceID. It should not set both g_nPOV1DeviceID and g_nPOV2DeviceID to duplicate IDs even if one device has both roll and throttle axis as the source divide the cases but I’ll recheck it. At least one of my friends with X52 setup working with AL though. What are your devices?

@chihirobelmo
My new SimGears ICP arrived recently.
The 3-position switch for GAIN/LVL/AUTO utilizes a virtual POV for the LVL (center) position.
AL shows this as „POV1.UP: Sim Gears IT“ but I‘m unable to assign anything to this.
In the falcon bms.cfg the parameter g_nNumOfPOVs is 2 (stick + WH throttle).
Could you have a look into this? -

Could you have a look into this?@Razor161 - did the ICP come with a link to download MMJoy2 (or similar) to work on it at the chip level? I’m curious if that switch could be reset to output DX #'s instead of a POV. They may have set that up initially as a DX32 device to keep withing 4.35’s operating parameters, 4.36 can have 128 DX#'s per device now… My Simgears ICP is due to arrive today, i’ll see what I can find out.

Not that I’m aware of. It is ready to use and does not require to use release events since each 3-pos switch only sends a short press event. That’s why they reached 33 DX buttons.

Ok, so it is using DX#'s above DX32, correct? I was thinking he did not know 4.36 allows up to DX128 and may have used a POV command to keep it maxxed at DX32. I just emailed him for clarification, because I can reassign that switch’s outputs if MMJoy2 will work with it… that is how my current ICP was set up.

They would need a DX33
They have 32 DXs plus POV1.Up. -

Hi at all, just a question. The alternate launcher wont let me bind the below listed binding to my device. Someone has a solution on how to bind it?
RadioTowerCommand
RadioAWACSCommand
RadioTankerCommand
RadioWingCommand
RadioElementCommand
RadioFlightCommand -
I am having an odd problem. When I Launch BMS 4.36 from Alternative Launcher v2.1.0 I have BMS - Auto as the keyfile selected in game.
If I am making edits to the keyfile in AL it is actually editing BMS - Full but I still get BMS - Auto in BMS.
If I select BMS - Full in Setup - Controllers in BMS and Apply and OK, then Exit BMS and relaunch from AL it is back to BMS - Auto again.

If you launch BMS from AL then the BMS - Full key file is created and selected. That’s normal. But it should not overwrite the original BMS - Full key file.

@Razor161 - OK, just installed mine no re-programming is necessary. The GAIN/LVL/AUTO switch does not appear to be used anymore as I don’t see it in AL or BMS itself. The switch is Up/DX31 , Down/DX32/ Center/POV1.Up. If I ever used that switch I guess I will worry about changing the LVL position to DX33, but as I have nothing to bind it to it’s wasted effort for now… If given the choie I would have had Simgears leave the “IFF” button blank and used DX3 elsewhere and that would alleviate the need of hte POV assignment on DX32 limited software…

On my old ICP I used the GAIN/LVL/AUTO switch as MASTER ARM ON/OFF/SIM. And I also use the IFF button regularly. So I don’t share your opinion regarding that suggestion.
However I solved the MASTER ARM switch by moving it to one of the switches on my throttle.
Being able to use the POV1.Up in AL would be great so we can use all three positions of this switch as well. -
