Training features request

This discussion reminds me of a similar discussion we were having many years back when I was serving on the Greek army. Someone said that it would be great if the Swiss army knife that he had ,could also be equipped with a small flashlight. We all had flashlights but they were big and bulky at the time. So many agreed with his new feature request and many disagreed with it (“you have to carry extra batteries”,“it would not be strong enough to see anything”,“it would make the Swiss army knife to big”, “why do you need that there are lights everywhere” etc) and some offering alternatives that have already been considered by the OP but we rejected. The request here and back then is about more options. And more options are always welcomed by a community of people that have 100.000 different configurations and training procedures and sop’s. Good day to all!

Gents,
This is absolutely out of question from my perspective to push such a thing in BMS.
There is nothing realistic about your request… (re-arm and refuel takes time in real life and it is definitely not like DCS does…)
For the time being, use cheats as proposed but I don’t see value for BMS to undertake such a work to reduce realism…
100% agree. OP needs to learn to use the game properly not with arcade cheat keys. Dumb idea.
OP try training in correct order. Start with basics, take off, flying, landing then move onto weapons and combat tactics.
Learn to fly proper combat missions, not exactly sure what you are doing but it sounds dumb and totally unrealistic. -

I get that these sorts of feature requests don’t align with the current tenets and priorities of the BMS team. But it’s not unreasonable to ask, right?

a member forgets his speedbrakes let’s say I want to be able to fix that mistake instantly
Isn’t there a way to invoke the scripting commands (eg. SetFuel) in the 3d pit … in the chat window?
I thought there was a way, but perhaps I’m mistaken.

@airtex2019 you can actually but there might be limitations on when you trigger it…

Learn to fly proper combat missions, not exactly sure what you are doing but it sounds dumb and totally unrealistic.I think maybe you need to tone it down a notch and re-read his 1st (and subsequent) posts more carefully. He is looking for “features” that will fit into his training program and certainly are not “dumb” requests. Many (myself included) have asked about a “hot rearm” availability for years, back before BMS actually. He has graciously accepted that these are not likely items that will ever be addressed, but never say never about the BMS team!
-
Let’s end it here.
No worries about not adding those features!
Everything is .
You are all welcomed to our exercise in a few months with your best realistic way of flying, you will need it for sure.
Be well!!!

Sounds like the ‘training’ is bad and needs some work. I would look at that first.

@Hubert3000 you really don’t know what you are talking about…
-
I’ve seen a few of these dodgy online training things in DCS and other games before, could be wrong but this guy has some red flags and some of them are scams.

hmm maybe I shouldn’t have given @Ironman3 my credit card info… <-- just joking
no red flags here… just a simple feature request… signing off

Paid training for BMS… hummmmmmm
Run AWAY!!!

@MaxWaldorf I just love that “patreon” accounts …
Lemme leave my credit card info FUCKOFF/2022 .Count me in.

Reentering 3d with a different aircraft can affect datalink and fuel remaining on the new aircraft which the AI was flying with.
I think that’s “old news”, bordering on “fake news” maybe these days
Try it…if you find problems like that we’d like to hear about it. That kind of thing you will find the development team will readily respond to for you.
-
If you have all 5 slots in the package taken how spare aircraft can be on the same package? Is datalink support more than 5 slots in 4.36?
-
@Ironman3 so someone flies with his speedbrakes on and this someone has been flying for 10 years now?
Not sure how magically adding fuel makes any difference compared to the unlimited fuel option — by adding fuel, you are clearly more worried about being able to fly for longer so why worry about “realistic” fuel endurance? That went out the window the moment you considered magically adding fuel.
I think @Boxer made a good suggestion about fragging multiple flights but I guess you do raise a good point about datalink.

The limit is real, yes. But it’s not number of slots per se so much as DL works intra-package only.
The reason for that traces back to the fact that the DL implementation pre-dates the discrete radio frequency tuning. That and an assessment that in operational settings that’s a pretty fair approximation of how DL would have been used (past tense intention since DL is a legacy system these days for much of the F-16 fleet; remember, this isn’t LINK16 by any stretch of the imagination). Changes for those limitations would be quite tricky for sure (by which I mean: unfortunately I’d have to say don’t hold your breath on that one).
For clarity only, I was asking for bugs in DL or fuel levels if you hop in and out of 3D. But you are right – DL is limited…not a bug so much as a compromise design decision.

My read is OP runs a virtual-training-squadron. He is training others who make dumb mistakes sometimes. And is asking for small quality-of-life features that would apply to that scenario.

Everyone can do a mistake and hit accidentally the speedbrake button even if he is flying 110 years!!!
If this mistake creates let’s say 800lbs difference i want the flight to be able to take the decision and clear the wingman to take back those 800lbs. Another thing that can happen is to have a tricky throttle causing AB detent to lose the setting. But this is not the only reason to add this feature.
Here is a tactical example.
We have a DCA flight with 30 minutes VUL TIME. Let’s say that bad fuel managment is done and there are 5 minutes remaining. It can be predefined that in such occasion the aircrafts may take some fuel in the air in order to cover the vul time BUT during the debriefing is going to be stated that DCA failed regardless the outcome of the mission. This way we extract two conclusions. The first one is that DCA failed, and the second one is that if a good fuel management was done the package could hit the target or not.
That way the COMAO can deploy all the tactics that were planned till the last minute. Of course we fly with invulnerability and with the ‘cheat’ of a sound signal when you are hitted.Provided that we all want the same thing here and not cheat, which is happening in our squadron, this is a great tool!
May be many people find this unrealistic and a good opportunity to cheat but if this is used wisely and corectly is a realism multiplier.
And for those who are offended because their realistic way of flying is decreased only with idea of adding this I will say one thing, at the end of the day the only guy who knows if you flew as real as it gets is YOU and that affects only you!

accidentally the speedbrake button even if he is flying 110 years
Somewhere I remember hearing/reading from RL viper drivers, that this happens… that it’s hard to “feel” the effect of the brakes, just cruising along at level flight. And especially at night or foul weather, when pilots can’t see each other. So, one develops the habit of semi-obsessively thumbing the brake-close switch.
