Is the SA 15 working as it should?
-
In 4.3.7 I have been shot down several times at more than 21K feets (height confirmed by radar altimeter) by a SA15, is this normal? What is the maximum ceiling?
Also in the RWR, the symbol 15 is replaced by M but there is no launch. -
please send aCMI
are you sure you didnt porked your install ?
is this stock KOREA ?
-
Happened to us several times, even higher. Probably worth the investigation. Nothing to provide right now.
EDIT: yes, ground elevation taken into account. -
@CarlosRodriguez it should be up to 30-35K feets. And fire at 2 targets at once, even if these targets are your bombs or missiles, but not in BMS unfortunately.

Around 32K according to the internets, but definitely more than 21K.

The TOR-M1 has far shorter max. altitude and range.
TOR-M2

Can’t check if it was changed, but I’ve been having a “M” from 4.33 (without a 15 launch).

15/M is normal.
IIRC 15 in seach/acquisition, 15/M in tracking mode. -
Should it trigger a Sam launch or is it like sa10?

I’m 99% we already had blinking 15 with missile launch alarm, if that helps.
-
@Mav-jp yes Korea base game, fresh installed.
Thanks -
If you see the 15/M. You need to be making life choices in a hurry. A little friend is about to come up and say hi.

Can´t reproduce in KTO. No launch passing higher than 21k ft, even right overhead, jamming or not jamming.
SA is 15
FC is 15/M
Launch warning right on missile launch. -
Trying using a HQ unit with SA-15 instead of the normal SA-15 unit.

@Mav-jp
Depends on SA-15 block… TOR-M2 could? trigger search/acq/lnch
but TOR-M3 (somewhat) like sa-10 - phased array radar + optical (don’t think TVM guidance)… but I don’t think it should trigger msl launch . just srch/ maybe acq…but 21kft is VALID parameter for closer SA15 - you’re dead - even not large missile but is 2 stage … so there’s range - and very very agile - Himars rounds get shot down easily in Belogrod …
you could compare it with iron-dome

The game models the TOR-M1.

Aha, I see. Well, then, probably all bells and whistles of RWR., still not system that should be underestimated , in any case. … when you see the flash - it is already too late- it would be cool if game model would simulate “imperfectness” of design/production - there are no 2 things in the world 100% exactly the same produced (not even in 3d printer) - eg… there’s 2miligrams more of rocket fuel in the missile and just that one, 1 in 1000 , gets to 22kft … but you thought you were safe at 21kft “hardcut” … stuff like that happens in RL - not in sims unfortunately … (or missile fails after launch…)

Should it trigger a Sam launch … ?
Not necessarily.
But anyway, one or the other, none can be considered true or wrong. It entirely depends on how library is programed in reality and if the actual launch can be sensed (and parametrics knonw by libraried programmers, maybe it is possible by no mations at this moment knows what are the conditions and can’t program tje RWR to detect any uplink, or traking pattern preceding a launch …) or, if launch alarm is based on the detection of a specific traking freq/scan pattern considered as a launch condition (with the possibility of no actual launch). Ths is not simulated/implemented. IRL, a missile launch alarms doesn’t mean an actual launch. The opposite can also be true.
Everything depends on intelligence informations about systems parametrics, RWR and library capacity (can be a size of memory preventing to store all the requied data forcing programmers to make it mode simple/generic and accepting more ambiguities) and depends on choices, assumption (conservative warning or no) … etc …For all those reasons, complaining about a symbol used in BMS has no sens.
@molnibalage : If you like to explain more, tou are welcome. My English is not good enough to be able to correctly explains the subtilities and the forum prevents me to write long post with my “old” Android version.
