Multiplayer campaign

Hello again,
we are trying to launch the multiplayer campaign (tiger spirit,…), but not on the open server but on the own one. 3 PC´s available, one as a server, two players. Can somebody tell me how and where to place the “server aircraft”?
thank you (dont eat me, please)

Hello
You need to create a flight of an aircraft (e.g. a transport plane) that takes off one minute before the first flight in your package.
Put the server in this aircraft, launch this flight by ramp if you want to enter the game yourself by ramp, or launch this flight by taxi if you want to enter the game by taxi. -

You need to place it in a plane which will remain on the ground.Use a “neutral” aircraft such as transport or UAV as suggested by @Rouge1512 .
My Tip : You can create a specific squadron on an remote airfield (with Mission Commander) so it will not impact in any manner any other flight. The server will go in 3D at the same time as the first human as said by @LorikEolmin
My tips : I use one MQ-9 UAV flight, with take-off time 2 or 3 hours after human flights. Like that :
1/ No risk for the server to mistakenly go in 3D while already moving on the ground, or worse, airborne.
3/ Server aircraft will still be on the ground when coming back.
3/ I can reuse the same server flight for the next sortie. Just need to change its take-off time accordingly. -

Set the server plane take off exactly at the same time as the first human flight, the server will automatically enter 3D one minute before the first human.
It’s not mandatory, as far as I have experienced it.

our server is rendering 3d, here we place a c-17 squadron in hiroshima, under human control, we create the package 20 minutes before takeoff, we go to the ramp and the time of the campaign has to be at night, so that don’t show runway lights problem.
We have other things configured in the server config but it only applies to us in our particular case. -
Thank you a LOT guys. We flew it yesterday. Thank you

I must be missing something, for 2-3 pilots why would you not have one person act as the “host” and have clients join? This is how I have flown with friends since waaay back… You can save the campaign mission when done at any point and restart it next session a day\week\month later. I get it if you need to have a running server and people join “whenever”, is that the case here? Also, does the “No 3D” server workaround still work with 4.37 (bet 4.38 will add new issues)…

@Icer I guess so you can leave the campaign running and people can dip in and out when they want to?

@rubbra I don’t believe so, I think the host must join the mission for the clients to be able to but I honestly never tried it. The idea of Host\Client with a couple friends is to fly a Campaign, at scheduled times, so you fly together. Host saves after each mission so if you decide to quit you can pick up the campaign where you left it. It’s highly possible once the host machine is running and Campaign started that it could be left running for others to join, just never tried it…

This is what 24/7 servers do all the time.

I always thought they were “standalone” servers, running a "no 3D DLL, just cranking away in real time… learn something new every day!

Hi @GhostDog-0
You can add the following cfg attributes to the “Server”
since U1
- Add a NoRender mode (Dedicated Server):
- Set by “set g_bNoRender 1” in the cfg or by passing -norender argument
and since U2 there is also a interessting setting
- Added a new server mode where server stays paused without players and players can control time compression (g_nServerCompressionMode):
- 0 (default)
- 1: server pause without players
- 2: server pauses without players, player can control server acceleration
thouse two lines should be added into the
\Falcon BMS 4.37\User\Config\falcon bms.cfg under the “MP Settings” at the end
Hope this helps you too
