In the Dogfight arena - the aircraft should remember their settings between fights. For example in 2v1 training, lead and wingman practice ACM against a Mig and upon entering a new session - we must set the yard stick, VHF and UHF frequencies, set DMD and other fence-in tasks. Then we’re ready to fight the Mig. We can give ourselves enough time to do all that by setting the initial range at 35+ miles.
Once we’ve defeated the Mig a new session is spawned and we have to set everything up again, before engaging the new Mig. So if we’re going to go through a training session of 10-20 sessions - having to reset all the controls each time is a pain.
Ideally if you set up the controls in the first session and they remain for all subsequent sessions until you leave the Dogfight arena.

@VDK Finally we can attack Denmark again. Seriously though, not much to fight over in this area.

I would like to add another thought regarding ATC communication.
For real aviators in contact with ATC, it is mandatory that each instruction line given by the ATC is read back correctly.
Since I have become a fan of “Kennedy Steve” and the awesome “Real ATC radio” videos on YT, I like to simulate a certain “dialog feeling” and repeat the instructions, just for fun and immersion.With one big problem: ATC never lets me finish
My question: While a human player is speaking on uniform, is it possible to make ATC wait until the channel is clear again?
Cheers everyone! -
In the 2D Map > Logbook window, the medals earned are displayed, but not how many. As of today, for instance, I have 34 Air Medals, which I can only know by opening the SoBad.lbk file with the Logbook Editor.
Because, that number is not displayed in the Logbook window. It would be informative to know not only which medals we’ve earned, but how many of each medal we’ve earned, and what the medal symbolizes as well.

Base the skill level of wingman to sort automatically during BVR and be able to set up a grinder with out being told to.
-
There is only one thing that I can think of - Link 16. Being able to have a data link to see where all the bad guys are, like in DCS (although I prefer BMS, hardly ever play DCS) would be ace.
-
@AviationPlus if you could (I have seen a lot of your YT content and it is cool!) please will you do a single player BARCAP grinder video. I saw one before but the comms options to the wingman weren’t detailed so I have no idea how to set one up. I sort of know the theory so some of that would be good too.
No pressure, just an idea for when you are doing a video.

Ten months ago, I got promoted to Major. Since then, I ran a mission or two nearly every day. Finally, after almost a year at the rank of Major, I earned my promotion to Lt. Colonel today.
I have to admit, I was proud of plugging away at it until I got it. On today’s mission, I knew I was going to probably earn 1600+ mission points needed to get promoted to that rank, so I was full of excited anticipation to see the big announcement window when I ended the mission.
Did I get a recorded voice congratulations announcement? I was hoping so, because I sure do get an extensive audio dressing down and penalties when I mess up. But no-- no “Congratulations” audio.
Did I get a windowed text saying, “Congratulations! After many months of hard work, you have earned your promotion to Lieutenant Colonel! Well deserved!!!” No, no such pat on the back.
Okay, then did I get at least just a one-sentence “Congratulations on your promotion to Lt. Colonel!” No, I didn’t see that either.
Well then did I get at least minimal “Promotion: Lieutenant Colonel” notification??? Nope.
I got a popup window with three letters bunched together: “LtC”
That’s it. “LtC”
I’ve said it before-- Everyone knows BMS has a LOT of big work to address. But if you use the rationale that the big stuff always comes first, then the small things that add up to a big difference will NEVER get addressed.
If a Falcon player works hard for almost a year to earn a promotion, he deserves more than a small window popup with the three-letter “LtC” in it.
So, for my BMS wishlist, I wish for management to understand that a certain amount of time needs to be scheduled for the small things, of which BMS has MANY to address.

@SoBad
I got my RL promotion to LtC via mail. -
Recent post on reddit got me thinking, how hard would be to add ‘Reolad key file’ option to Esc menu.

I believe this is already available via the chatline, but I’m not sure of the cl argument.

@CriticalMass
Yep, exactly, it’s.joy
command.
But- first it’s not widely known and not easily discoverable
- not very VR friendly.
My thinking was, if the functionality is there, all is needed is some sort of GUI. Not being able to remap keys on the fly is valid complaint about BMS UI in relation to controllers config.

Ah, so your suggestion is to make it more discoverable…seconded!
Out of curiosity, do you know what might be preventing my chatline and info bar from appearing (long shot ask)
-
@CriticalMass
I’ve got no idea, I’ve amost never use chat. If you mean in VR, my bet would be they’re outside of FOV. -

g_nScaleUIMode
setting which I have set to1
(obviously), well, I set this to0
reloaded BMS and both the infobar and the chatline rendered again. Exited out of BMS, switched the setting back to1
and the infobar and the chatline were still rendering as expected. BMSISMAnyway, thanks for the nudge.

@CriticalMass
I’ve got no clue why it worked, but if it did, who cares why …
Glad I could help in any way. -
@SoBad
Congratulations on your promotion to Lieutenant Colonel.I’m curious, what hapened when you got promoted to Major?
David
-
@Toaster
The “usual” way in front of the the whole batallion at the end of the quarterly battalion roll call.LtC was another story as I’m now Reserve and the promotion had to be delivered to meet time regulations while I was on vacation.

lolol-- David, honestly, I’m an old fart, and I can’t remember that far back. Cynically, I’m sure it was equally unimpressive. I’d love to be wrong, though!
