WIP - Panama Theater Beta 2.0A for BMS-4
-
Guys,
I have a late version of Panama for AF which includes some better terrain, etc., little stuff like that, but best it includes a te_new.tac file which works 1000 percent better than any other version I’m aware of. Would you be up for trying to integrate the two versions into one for BMS? I’d dearly love to see proper working winnable campaigns again for Panama, and as far as I am aware, a properly linked te_new.tac in which all the movement values between objectives are realistic would help immensely.
This does beg another question though - is it easy enough to take the campaign .cam files as they stand today and port the units across into a new te_new.tac file?
Cheers

Malc??? There shouldn’t be any units in a te_new.tac.

Yes, perhaps my wording isn’t clear. In the good old days, my te_new.tac was the base for building new .cam files. I would take a “unit-free” te_new.tac file, add loads of units to it, save it as save0.cam (or whatever).
What I don’t want is to force people to start from scratch with the units, so can they be exported from the current campaign files?

Yes you can do that.
Just go to the Units tab in your Save0/1/2, whatever, Select Units>Export Units which will export them out to a Excel .csv.
Open a virgin te_new.tac, go to the Units tab and do a Units>Import Units from the Units.csv into it.
From the Map View tab, first do a Units>Rebuild Squadrons, then Do a File>Save As and make sure you enter the entire syntax = Save0.cam…(or Save1.cam/Save2.cam)

Great job! Many thanks to all responsible for this release!

If I recall correctly, ccc was able to get an old version of Panama to win a ground war in Freefalcon 4. He had to manually move some ground units, but it worked.
I could never get it to work like that in FF5, and in BMS I can’t even get the jets to spawn correctly on the airbases.
My point is that Panama used to work, and I think it could be made to work in BMS, but I don’t know how to do it.

RAM22IIRC only objectives can be exported into csv. Units are exported into some binarized/coded file. I asked Monster for some txt or csv util
regarding units in the past. Now I am trying the same with Falcas. But there is not such an option for now…. -

As Donkey said to Shrek, “Where’s the will there’s a way.”
All we gotta do now is find that way…

I’ve tried 10 times on all these links and can’t get crap. All keep getting interrupted and then stopped! Oh well Thx anyway for the work!

Great theatre and a real joy to play!
Wouldn’t hurt if there was a air refueling capability though.
And maybe a soviet navy to strike (seems feasible considering the supposed conflict). -
Hi,
Thanks for the add-on.
I tried to install it, but the panama theatre does not appear in the BMS menu.I create a folder Add-on Panama at the same level as my other Addd-on theatre
I unzipped all 3 .rar and copy them in the Add-on Panama with their subdirectories
Then I unzipped the Panama v2 SP1 that overwrote some exiting files
Then in folder \Add-on Panama\terradata\theaterdefinition, I create (it didn’t exist) your theatre.lst file and added the below 2 lines:Add-On Panama\Terrdata\theaterdefinition\Panama - Redux.tdf
Add-On Panama\Terrdata\theaterdefinition\Panama.tdfSee below a dumpscreen of my directories
My BMS displays correctly the other theatre (korea, balkan, isreal, etc) but not Panama.
Do I miss something or miss to edit a config file ?Thanks for your feedback

is there a gap or an empty line in your theatre.lst file?
change position of the lines and it will be fixed or u have a typo there. -
Hi,
I changed the Terrdata to terrdata to reflect the case, and also checked the case of other files in the theatredefinition folder because the case is not respected everywhere
I also checked that the main directory have a first uppercase letter
(not sure that the above changes have an impact under W7)
I also inverted both lines in the Theater.lst file :Add-On Panama\terrdata\theaterdefinition\Panama.tdf
Add-On Panama\terrdata\theaterdefinition\Panama - Redux.tdfWhatever the changes, I cannot see the Panama theater in the menu.
Here are my directories and the original .lst file.I used another link suggesting to downloaded 3 .rar
I just saw in the previous post that there is an Alternate link listing 4 files. So I deleted all the Add-On Panama and reinstalled the 4 .rar + the v2 SP1 and copy the theater.lst too.
Result: Same issue., the Panama theater does not appear in the BMS 4.32 u7 menu contrary to all other theaters as if all the Panama folder didn’t exist…
I have no solution to resolve this based on the existing .rar and SP1 you provided.
I checedk a lot of txt file (ini and others), there is no specific mention other that the ones in the \theaterdefinitionSo any fix 'd be welcome.
Thanks
NB. With all these mods gathering GB of data, it should be welcome that BMS developers put at disposal of creators of theaters, textures and other skins a standard tool to install and deinstall mods automatically.
Some users use such tools, e.g. for the Balkans and Night Tiles among other mods that simplify installations and prevent errors.
Of course for creators changing simply some files (e.g. dds) that can simply be copied in an existing directory, such a tool is useless. -
Hi,
I fixed the issue
In the instructions, you stated to edit the theatre.lst stored in the folder \Add-on Panama\terradata\theaterdefinitionIt is not that one that we have to edit. In addition this file does not exist in that folder.
The one to edit is the global theater.lst file saved in [falcon dir]\Data\Terrdata\theaterdefinition
See below dumpsDo avoid the duplicate" Panama 2011" in the BMS Theatre selection screen also edit the “Panama - Redux.tdf” that is saved in [falcon dir]\Data\Add-On Panama\Terrdata\theaterdefinition
and in the first lines of the file change
name Panama 2011
to
name Panama 2011 Redux
(or any other description) and save.Have a good fly!

Hi there “luxorion”.
Well you said that “In the instructions, you stated to edit the theatre.lst stored in the folder \Add-on Panama\terradata\theaterdefinition”.
Where did you see this and by who?
Just take a good look at posts #1 and #17:
_"Extract all RAR files into a folder named “Add-On Panama” (without the quotes). Cut and paste this folder (Add-On Panama) with all the subfolders and files into you main BMS install folder C:\Falcon BMS 4.32\Data. If done correctly, the file installation will look like this: …\Falcon BMS 4.32\Data\Add-On Panama.Using notepad, open the “theater.lst” file in the following folder …\Falcon BMS 4.32\Data\Terrdata\theaterdefinition. After the last entry add these:
Add-On Panama\Terrdata\theaterdefinition\Panama - Redux.tdf
Add-On Panama\Terrdata\theaterdefinition\Panama.tdf"_It is nice to first take a good look at the instructions in order to avoid issues and lost time ;).
I hope to enjoy this theater.

Nice job guys.
Just flew it ,and I love this theater.smooth. -
I had and the Solution is really easy, when you got it
Use Win RAR or a similar Extractor and start with the first ZIP-Archive. After this is finished, there should be an Option to choose the next Archive right in this Exraction-Dialoge.
Now just browse to the second Archive and so on. It’s the same Procedure, as you use to install a Game via more than one CD

Morning all,
tried to get this loaded and still can’t see the theatre on the theatre menu. Any guidance? Is anyone working an install program like the Israeli Theatre? -
Okay, now I would create the Add-on Panama in The data file, correct? Should be able to extract it right to there, right?
