FO - Battle For Balkans Theater
-
I disagree with Spooky that all threads end that way. I’ve actually seen the contrary with threads that include videos and thanks for the experience of flying with that many people. The FO guys release all their theaters publicly which a lot of groups don’t do (my group included) and for the entire community to participate in, and in it’s nearly impossible to please everyone. I understand the concern over files being overwritten in this case but Khronik said he is doing a new installer so it’s not an issue anymore since people are aware.
I haven’t participated in every event because I’m a nut about ramp starts and some SOPs, but I had my first flight in BFB tonight and enjoyed it. You should try it Spooky… there are lots of MLU squadrons for you :).

I just loaded up Battle of Balkans and all I can say is wow:shock: The package is absolutely amazing. In my many years of being in the Falcon world, I have never seen such ‘polish’ and amazing amount of functional content in a freeware mod release. In all honesty, your mod makes Balkans a whole new theatre that few of us thought possible when BMS was first released. Hats off gentlemen for your immense skill and dedication to this project. We finally have a completely finished, winnable campaign in an addon theatre for BMS. Its is definately a day to celebrate. Cheers.

Haukka the Campaign is meant to be played with the ADA and Pilot rating at Ace. Try that it should make them more aggressive.
During testing They were beasts to get near…OK, thanks. I try to start new campaing with ace level.
There should be readme or something just because this kind of things

It is unacceptable that this theater does modify the stock DB. without at least a clear warning.
By doing this, you are contributing to make ppl think that DB should be locked…
So please, make it clear in the package that FM file will be replaced and considered as NO LONGER COMPATIBLE with stock install.
(we are not working hard on our side to make things as stable as possible, to see this ruined by mods)
Thank you for understanding.

I had a quick look at the SU27 FM / “AFM”.
just by reading it, i see some small mistakes in Gravity center positionning vs Fuel tank positionning…
No big deal though
i think this SU27 FM / “AFM” should be adjusted in order to find his way to 4.33.
However, the people who made it need to show us the final EM charts of their model.
i think TOPOLO has a tool that makes them automatically.
Finally:
FYI , 4.33 has a build in anti cheat module that will prevent ANY connexion to the server if FM files are different.
so be aware that those kind of DB change will not be “permitted” in the futureit has been extremly difficult to Make a unique stable version for the Falcon 4 community…please dont start to break it…
-
What untested changes made?? I don’t think anyone has changed what you did to the FM besides the Flutter effect that metal put in…
Well it might not be a show stopper but many hours went in to getting gear travel & position as close as practical……
Shows full extension
As it should be.
At no load with gear full extension.PS: both .dat and afm.dat have deviated entries for the landing gear. And yes this FM is still a work in progress.

If a new BfB 1.12 installer is being produced, I do hope that the WDP unit data base incompatibility will be corrected also. Contact Falcas.

With all due respect, if BMS is deeply concerned about core files being overwritten why aren’t the SIM files being individualized per theater?
At the moment the only reason why we have to overwrite core files is because there is no other solution.

So please, make it clear in the package that FM file will be replaced and considered as NO LONGER COMPATIBLE with stock install.
Please explain how and why the stock install is “no longer compatible” (as described in your words) once the su-27 dat file is overwritten.
-
Brilliant, thanks for this….this will get me back into the Falcon skies again I think!!
Cant see teh problem with the install, surely, you just have separate installs ? I know I do…
Finally, I see someone suggested or asked about the Nove objects folder, you cant just drop this in can you, as there campaign specific skins etc… is there a way to use the new objects he has made if we want to? These would be the icing on the cake…

well there is. Use f4patch and give an easy way to revert back to stock files.

LOL Dee-Jay…relax and read the thread as whole. No sacrilege happened as such.
And Mav-Jp, you also have no reason to be afraid of a “broken” BMS, don´t worry - at least not by us.
Btw. Mav… we at FO are deeply concerned about making things in harmony (standards and compatibility) with the official version and i stated that before.
The Su-27 was an exception or an experiment - if you will - after the community asked for it after hearing about it. You may remember, that i asked you aswell, if you were involved in this Su-27 project, because i felt “nervous” myself too
I would appreciate, if you find the time to take a deeper look at the FM the boys did there (i had no time, sorry).Long story short, NO reason to celebrate a drama where there is none. The lessons learnt (installer notification) and…moving on …
-
I am relax … but want also to be clear about policies here. Do not touch to Korean stock database unless it is clearly stated in mod/theater installer.
The lessons learnt (installer notification) and…moving on …
Perfect. Fine by me.

i am just saying that doing that in future will prevent people to connect in MP therefore WILL break BMS community
for the moment , no problema

BMS memory validation + Simcheck =
@Dee-Jay: Noone cares about the stock korea database tbh. as each theater has its own (must have infact) database.

Not sure what you are talking about, but this is what you wrote

Would everyone need to learn about it or only theatre creators?
Cheers
