Gents, this has taken some time, but worth it for Guam.
Quakes model of the F15 is very nice and has been in Falcon versions for years. But, essentially it is beyond the boundaries of the sim and tools.
That being stated, I have replaced it in Guam with CCC’s much more user friendly model (AND saved a bunch of FPS……LOL)
I cannot remember ATM how many DOF’s or Switches and Drawable Node’s we can achieve in a LOD model…that is for Wavey and others to decide…I’m not a modeller.

Credit is public now, so BMS should not have a problem with further theater specific modifications……right BMS Boyz???

Going further, this particular version of the Eagles may never be available to Joe Public due to the fact that I HAD to change some of MavJP’s\Topelos SIMDATA work……don’t worry gents I did not touch any propulsion data, just some gear ranges and some hard point grp’ing to match the model used.
Without access to a theater specific Simdata, our hands are tied ATM.BUT,
as we can see the bird is there and flying.
Some Jocks may see an absence of AIM120’s on the airframe. Intentional and I’ll explain why.
From the first build of Guam to the latest we have encountered a problem with limited airspace to fight in. I.E. the original campaign had Patriots as AD (both sides)……you could barely get off your base B4 you were slammed out of nowhere by them…LOL!!! As well, most of the original airframes in game carried AIM120’s AI\JP BVR capable…in PLAYING the game we noticed that once WOW (Weight off Wheels) we could target immediately, with the 120’s, some of the ingressing Opfor airframes. Not good for gameplay.
So we are removing the BVR weapons from Guam, one airframe at a time, to enhance gameplay.
Trust me, I flew many thousands of flights in Falcon B4 I became an Idiot developer and I have a bunch of people who fly this almost everyday.
It will make for better Gameplay.Cheers,

So essentially it is the model included in stock BMS with your update.
Uhmm, no, the F-15 in stock BMS is Mike Rivers work.
Also I remember Quake has not given permission to use his F-15 model for
use in non FreeFalcon versions, … back in the days.AFAIK this was (one of ???) the reason(s) why Mike did his own F-15 model.

But more to the point on scaling, the terrain mesh is closer to 249.934476 than exact 256. Go figure.

Maybe I’m missing something (inside joke?), but if not, then …. this is NOT the way to encourage people to keep working on projects in their own free time. You PAY nothing, you EXPECT nothing. Not happy with progress …. do it yourself, volunteer to help or STFU.

Creating new theaters for this sim is NOT easy: the code was never meant to be able to do so AFAIK. We are helping beta test this and so far it looks encouraging but is as challenging as always with these theaters.

The code doesn’t really care. Plug in the correct data in all the different phases, the theater and all its assets, the campaign files and all of it’s file’s and variables, art files, etc., etc., and a clean working DB and she’ll run it just as well as the standard Korea.
Whether Microprose intended it to be that way, who knows. The community has over the years made it possible through all the various tools that were derived.
Yes, it’s a ton of work.

Dave sent a beta copy of the theater to me, Mower, and a handful of other folks a month or so ago.
I worked up a .cam file for it, but it’s not fun. As Dave mentioned above, with the current DB and AIM-120s I’m just not finding the .cam entertaining. There is no terrain to hide behind; it’s all over the ocean and the actual landmasses of the islands aren’t sufficient to provide cover. Furthermore, the way the DB files are set, missions ingress/egress at 25k feet. So basically right now you have sets of planes that ingress towards one another at 25k and then lob tons of -120s at each other at max range. Eventually, if you have the right conditions, it will devolve to a dogfight once both sides expend all of their BVR weapons, but not always.
And there are other issues. Both sides feature CVNs and naval forces. The ATM will schedule naval strikes, but instead of massing a sensible alpha-type strike it sorties 4 jets at a time at the CVN, 2xF/A-18 escort and 2xF/A-18 with Harpoons or other naval weapons. It’s a slaughterhouse.
Finally, I am having real trouble finding a hook for the campaign. I love the sandbox nature of the theater. But coming up with an overarching goal has been problematic. It can be an attrition based campaign, but the way the campaign runs right now it just doesn’t work right and isn’t fun. To be honest, I think my good idea fairy has left the building. I’m just not able to think of anything to do with this other than spawn jets that fight each other. I think I might need to pass this off to Chuckles or someone else that has some good ideas.
The theater looks fantastic and some of Dave’s ideas are really neat. The more I play with it, though, the more I think it either has to have a much lower number of aircraft, or it might just be more suitable for PvP or TEs.

You are correct, this theater was designed By Demer as primarily a PvP theater. The absence of the traditional air to ground aspect would seem to many to be “half baked” thus the uniqueness of this theater.
I would suggest limiting the available seats on a server based campaign to 20 aircraft per side, lose the 120s but add the aim 7s. Now squads could use this campaign to employ wvr and bvr tactics. With the small overhead of this theater I would think it possible to run 2 independent campaigns simultaneously to accommodate a larger participation rate. It is after all a Red Flag scenario, no “hook” needed just good tactics being practiced and improved upon. Please don’t be discouraged, after all, it is just a proof of concept theater, and any “off the wall” ideas would certainly fit Demer’s MO.

All AMRAAM,ASSRAM,Slammer type A2A weapons have been removed from the DB Hrdpts…… as of 18:15 hrs tonite.
I will split the roster for the Airframes so it is suitable for both SP\MP…in an attempt to emulate AF (we’ll see how that works against the .tri). As well as some work in the miss.dat to reduce some mission types\attitudes\altitudes this weekend.tired demer

No AIM? Still the reasoning doesn’t convice me. If it was for PvP then why remove them?
Aegean theater and our missions at 320vfw are mostly over the sea we have no problems with AIM or what is the difference if 25000ft bellow u have land or sea? -
