Iff you could have one thing in the next update it would be. (Archive)

Can we get hot-pit rearming please?
Already implemented. You press Esc, then E. wait a little, and a menu comes up. There, add a new package and a new flight to assign your jet to.
Click takeoff - Taxi. Turn around, look at your aircraft tail, check that the serial number is the same.
Hot pit refuelling, and a snazzy (main) menu to do it from!

Bad idea on MP. Better to always restart the sim after leaving 3D once.

Yeah, but that would have been too complex to clearly convey in a short.
Preaching to the choir in this case

Ah yes, the forum smart ass strikes again.

Well, not like Malc wasn’t a bit tongue in cheek in the first place…

Meh …. what’s the point without Hot Pit refuel?
On a kinda related note, I read fighters were regularly hot-pit refueled/rearmed during ODS in 10 - 20 minutes.
HOWEVER… I do prefer Bluewolf’s method and will not be mentioning it again. Anyone daft enough to sit for 10 - 20 minutes in the 3D world doing virtually nothing really needs their head looking at. What I would like though, is hot-pit refuelling only to work in designated areas around the airbase. Hot-pit refuelling at the hold-short of an active runway does nothing for realism, IMHO.

I thought your reply was very good, actually made me LOL!

Well, the highest sortie rate in ODS was 8 sorties per day (literally a single aircraft achieved this). Fighters achieved much lower sortie rates - and averaged about two sorties a day.
I actually read a short piece on sortie rates in ODS earlier today. http://www.warfaresims.com/?page_id=3262
you can turn around an aircraft like that in maybe 20 to 30 minutes, for an exercise perhaps, or as a point. Well, I guess the link explains the stuff better. I disagree with a lot of the points they made, as they were interpreting it for use in a game - and as the game in question is a commercial venture, they are bound by all kinds of strictures that BMS is not.
Actually, I have to say that Warfare sims have done a LOT to make me appreciate BMS being free, lately. Seems that when money is a concern you suddenly become interested in pesky things like good gameplay, and accessibility, so as to maximise income. Rather than BMS’ admirable commitment, espoused frequently by DeeJay, that if something is complicated on the real jet, it will be complicated in BMS, and so on.
Cheers again BMS! If I could have one thing in 4.33, it would be to make sure that its free!

Improve Modeling Detail/Draw Distance, especially of units on the ground since vehicles and people are simple boxes and rectangles at a distance, viewed from the targeting pod
:c

My points exactly.

Another thing that would be cool is to have fire engines at the end of the runway when your bringing in a bent jet. I hear the tower stating that when I bring in a bent jet, but I see nothing at the end of the runway. I have stated that before somewhere. Actually I have stated that for a long time ago in some thread somewhere.

OOOH!, love that idea. Maybe have them foam the runway too when the gear won’t come down.:headb: That guy Nuno Santos, who makes all the pretty cloud textures, (if he felt inclined to, of course) could whip up some foam for the runways! Use a missile smoke trail from the trucks to the runway!
I have no computer skills whatsoever, and it is a miracle that I know enough to even run Falcon, so I am sure somebody will be on soon to kill this little fantasy that jhook just put in my brain.

My understanding was that the hotpitting of aircraft during OSD was done on the event that they were needed to scramble, not to turn them around and resortie them right away, but this seems largely to have depended on the airbase and the squadrons primary purpose.

Correct
Vipers in the Storm describes Hot-Pit after Missions, to get the Jets fueled again and make them able to reach the first Tanker on the next Mission. But not more, because of costs and other reasons, they refueled in the air as often and as much as possible -
Hotpit = NO NO.
-
Why?
-
Although I am not a big fan of the hotpit rearm, I think I remember reading a book this summer where the pilot-author was describing how they landed, taxi the jets, and the new crew was already there to jump in to take the jet back up as soon as they got out.
-
I am talking about hotpit refuel only, not rearm. Rearm is not valid for a dozen reasons discussed and analyzed in the past to another thread.

Also just talking about Fuel
