Alpha Jet A Project
-
Small Update to the post.
Model already full converted to 4.34 with all avionics and FM adjusted.
Going for beta test now for further release (In POH theater only).
-
The first thing coming into my mind is the fact that there is no wheel steering on the Alpha Jet. So on that point, I would have no idea about how to proceed with AFM files.
Once AFM done, you may count on me to test it in flight … but I have to admit I didn’t flown an Ajet for 10y.

Hi Dee Jay
I think I already reply to you regarding the NWS on the AJET.
This A model from PoAF does have NWS IRL. The standard E model that you have flown doesn´t.
AFM will take a while to understand and make a proper AFM to the AJET will be a real challenge to me.
Cheers

I don’t see why they’ve put a NWS on it (?) … it is not needed.
How is it activated? (pallet on stick? …) … do you have some pictures of the nose wheel (?) I am curious how they did this.

My best guess after speaking with Portuguese AF is that this particular very havly modified model to portugal has a max gross weight high enough so that just brake steering will be very difficult under heavy loads.
The NWS is activated by a switch near the EMER LG handle.
A NWS light on the GEAR and Flaps visor will light up.
This NWS is Hydraulically operated and electrically controlled

The bellows we see above is the same as the anti-shimy system.
But now I’ve found the info!
The Alpha Jet was designed to perform a diverse range of roles. The principal users of the type, Germany and France, operated their Alpha Jets in different capacities, the former as a ground attack platform and the latter as a trainer aircraft.[15] Beyond performing different roles, the Alpha Jet fleets of France and Germany noticeably differed in their specification and equipment; German aircraft were fitted with a more extensive weapon-aiming system, a different fuel system, a yaw damper, different brakes, nosewheel steering, an arrester hook, and Stencel ejector seats in place of Martin-Baker.[15] According to aerospace publication Flight International, the majority of the specialised equipment used on the ground attack-orientated variant of the Alpha Jet was provided by German firms.[23] In addition to the ground attack role, the Luftwaffe also employed the Alpha Jet in the electronic countermeasures (ECM) and aerial reconnaissance roles; for the latter purpose, a reconnaissance pod could be fitted upon

That’s a good point indeed.
Thank’s for head up. I didn’t new it!

Anytime DJ
I spend almost a year on this model. I had several IRL meetings with the POAF for consultation and pictures. I’m trying to push the limits of what can we do in BMS outside the F-16.
This model is as realistic as possible given the limits of BMS of course.

Are they still being flown in Portugal?

Hi, Decimal,
First I want to congratulate you for this mod. It’s becoming more and more desirable…at least for me!
Had flown the jet from 1998 to 2001, and in fact we used the NWS. There was a pallet on the stick (just like the paddle switch, but smaller), witch we kept pressed whenever we want to use the NWS. The Portuguese model (or the German one, because they were the same), is slightly different from the French, or Belgian one.
Has an attack aircraft, mainly designed for close air support, the aircraft had different brakes (due to the heavy loads), different ejection seats (Stencel Seat), and Yaw Damper (wich give us a limitation on rolling g’s, IIRC 5G’s, but it was a must for weapon deployment) . And of course the armament. It was a really fun to fly Jet, especially low level!!
Cheers!! -

Thank you for your kind words.
Very soon you and all community will have the opportunity to test the model.
Yeah this A models descendant from the german ones were heavily modified over the years here in Portugal. Not many A models have this type of capabilities.Cheers!

2019’s the year of cockpits and new models, Gotta love that!

Agree with Rypley.
And I too just can’t await to have a ride with her (no pun or everything else intended here, huh pals?)
With best regards to all.

Small update.
New skin, hook modeled, License plates done, and the new LAU-51 implemented.
Almost on the finish line.
Stay tuned

After seen what good you’re doing, you can bet it well, mate!
With best wishes and regards.

Hi Decimalminimal !!
What’s up ?? We are very impatient to fly in your alphajet ! Do you have any news about it or you are stopping the project ?
Have a nice day !

+1. If you don’t mind, Decimal, of course.
With best regards.

Hi guys
Not at all :D, the project is finished and i gather all the necesseray permissions from the original author for release.
Since it will not be released as a separated mod it will be included in the future release of Portugal / Spain theater.
In addition the model itself it will have an funcional AFM data for itself so good feelings on this one.
Stay tuned my friends.
