Yep, as the rule today is “pay to fly”, you did a nice job.
Congratulations Spooky and have nice flights (caution with right main gear, though)VMFA_Hud / }{ùd£x

Well done my friend! Should I expect you to @LGAV at some point?!
It’s all only a game maybe …but somehow …after trying to play seriously, i somehow developed some attitude while flying
Believe my words, if it was just a game then these gentlemen below wouldn’t play in '42 within a war… “It has to be something bigger than that”…

@ Hudlx … will do sir ! :), yes pay to fly is killing the market …. i am glad Air Côte D’ivoire rejected that option.
@ Raptor, for now Air Côte D’ivoire is strengthening it’s sub-regional network and domestic network. 18 sub-regional destinations with A-319’s ,320’s, and Dash 8 Q400. Domestic network with the Dash 8 Q400. By 2016 they will have 4x Dash8 …i get to fly the brand new one out of the Bombardier Factory !!!
But in a not so far future …Air Côte D’ivoire will go beyond Africa … New-York - Paris and Dubaï. There are already Emirates flights (A330) coming into Abidjan. The Airport has now been certified for direct flights from the US to Abidjan. And we also get the Air France A-380 coming in.
So maybe one day we will get in Greece :)!
It is more than just a game … that is for sure.

As with racing sims (most f1 teams build their own rigs these days, and they’re also common in the “lower echelons” of motorsports), the immersion really can help you build good habits and get rid of bad ones. Like many here have said, it’s all in the “way you play” BMS, wether you take it seriously or just enjoy blowing up stuff on the range from time to time will really affect your behaviour in real life in similar situations.
Storytime: A few years ago when I was travelling in a rental car to my former company’s manufacturing plant in northeastern Germany, I hit what must have been a freezing patch or an oil spill when taking the highway exit (those are usually tight right turns here in Germany). I wasn’t going very fast (maybe 60-70km/h), but more or less instantly would have lost the rear end of the car if I hadn’t made a lightning quick correction on the steering, setting the vehicle straight again and being on my merry way.
Only once the adrenalin had subsided in my system I realized that I’d just had a really close shave totalling or at least badly damaging the car, but hours and hours in rfactor and rfactor2 (best racing sim out there) had somehow prepared me mentally for just such a mishap.
It felt really weird and the workmate I was travelling with was quite impressed, too, but it goes to show that sims really do help prepare you for the unexpected.
Again, clear skies & happy flying! Keep us updated on your progress and make sure to take lots of photos
Uwe

Wie geht es dir ? (how are you?)
I used to live for a couple for years in Germany, in Hessen (Darmstadt/ Frankfurt am Main), and i do miss Germany a lot … truly beautiful country, i also went to school in Germany in a German school.
Good story mate, i can only agree with you on the way simulation can prepare you for some situations.
I will for sure post some pictures …especially the ones when we fly around CB’s going up to 30 000 feet !! … we are spot on the ITC, inter tropical convergence zone… so we get clash of the titans weather version down here. And the sunsets are impressive … i just can’t wait to land in Nigeria or Burkina Faso …or Mali !!!

Congratulations Spooky. Best wishes on a long and rewarding career.

Hi Vtail !!! long time buddy :), how is the jet business going?
@MailMan, the pickle button is indeed missing.
-
Hey Spooky, congratulations for living your dream!
-
Thank you Crazy Tom !! I am one lucky bastard !!

Congrats, I flew the older dash-8s. Great plane to start off with. The prop system is a tricky one to learn.

I had the offer to fly earlier today for the Athens Flying Week 2015 pre-show with either the latest Aegean Airlines A320 or the Q400. Unfortunately work overload didn’t allow free time for the ride, but some of my team m8’s did went up, and told me the best words for the Q400. Very nice and powerful machine for a prop. Some pics below, not theirs, I will have them tomorrow. New offer for weekend rides too…

The Dash8 Q400 NextGen is the one Air Côte D’ivoire uses. It is not like other turbo-props. That beast has Jet performances and has very very powerful engines. That thing flies basically the same approach speed as the A319 …well the Merlin is not too far from that either.
When i talked with a buddy on the Q400, he said that the simulator at Flight safety (Toronto) is awesome, but when you for the first time apply takeoff-power …you get chills on your back because you realize how powerful it is. Past critical speed, it would be impossible to stop the airplane from getting off the runway if one engine fails, it is so powerful for a prop that the reaction time is very very small.
Pilots tend to find it complex, we have a mixed fleet here, Airbus and Bombardier, and Airbus is less complex in some regards than the Q400. People crossing over from ATR etc …tend to get very surprised by the complexity of the whole systems of the airplane.
I am excited to get to discover the plane and fly it !!
Very very nice shots Raptor
I had the pleasure to fly twice in the Q, the first time it was when i moved from Montréal to Toronto with porter airlines.
Second flight was more …emotional because it was with Air Côte D’ivoire earlier this year, it was during the period when i was waiting for the call to go for the pilot evaluations …… i was dreaming to fly it !! It was a fun flight !!
As soon as i can, (couples of months) i will upload pictures of my first flights with the Q !!! Can’t wait to get my uniform on !.
