4.33.1 will release shortly: what you need to know and how to be prepared
-
Since 4.33.1 is an update you should expect bug fixes primarily.
Including some fixes to theHornet FM AFAIK.
-
better not hear anyone whinning about paying 10 bucks to play that sim :dhorse:
Considering what’s been splashed out on gear alone (in my case, literally a gaming pc specifically for BMS), the cost of the sim is mere peanuts. That’s how one ends up with two original CD’s, two Allied Force CD’s, a copy on GOG, and now, another on Steam, (to appreciate Tommo’s cool response to BMS).
Thank you BMS team and Tommo. Great to know that Falcon is alive and well, and looking like it has a solid future. My addiction is in safe hands!
-
I would say,now we are talking…
Congrats to BMS team!!! -
I take it the changes in 4.33.1 (regarding the subject matter) won’t affect things like the contents of the ‘config’ folder which we will be able to safely copy into our new install, is that right?

I believe the only things you should copy over are the files with your callsign in their filename, but I could be mistaken.

All files from 4.33 can be restored except falcon bms.cfg. As a rule of thumb never copy this file from one BMS update to another; it is always best to compare the old and new files and change options in the new version accordingly. Winmerge is a useful program to perform that task.
-
WinMerge is indeed a very useful tool.
-
I literally cannot wait til this comes out, so excited, thanks for sorting stuff out with the current owner.

Are looking at another session of setting up the HOTAS? I’m not complaining, just asking.

Well, clean up when you’re done.

Great result and congrats to all involved. Looks like a big WIN WIN for all./
I have my old boxed version, with thick (not ring bound unfortunately), blue manual, map, disk, and keycard etc. Which I keep safe.
Just bought F4 on steam (downloaded and installed in less than a minute) to support the publisher, and looking forward to BMS being further enhanced by the ‘BMS team’.

I doubt it. A best case 4.32 key file worked perfectly in 4.33 so the .1 update isn’t going to change more than that. The callback changes I’d guess are in the single digits.

I really fail to see why everyone is so excited by this. We get to pay (an admittedly paltry) fee to people unrelated to the development of either the original Falcon or BMS, none of which will ever go to the people who’ve put work into making BMS into what it is today.
-
Not at the moment… If you look at the beginning of this thread there is a new version just around the corner (3-4weeks) is the usual thing said around here… In the interim go back to the beginning of the thread and you will see you will need a full copy of the original Falcon 4 installed for this new release. There are several ways of getting the Original Falcon 4. Hint it’s all over the forums.
-
The Big Deal is that BMS was never officially recognized and blessed by the IP holder and now it has been…for now.

Guys I’m interested in and want to use steam version but what should I buy? There are 4 versions witch one BMS needs?

Any that includes Falcon 4.0 (not Allied Force)

Because you do not know Falcon4’s history : https://sites.google.com/site/falcon4history/files/FalconEpopee.pdf?attredirects=0

Let’s not get into messy debate again – at this point it’s moot. Suffice it to say that we could not be where we are today without some of the history that makes “never” a misrepresentation.
I think it would be more accurate to say that how much blessing by the various Falcon 4.0 IP owners (over time) conferred on BMS work has been debatable during various phases of BMS history. The big deal now is that there is no further basis for debate because as you will see from the splash screen, Falcon BMS is clearly marked as “…created by Benchmark Sims with permission from Tommo Inc and Retroism”.
