Whats the Best Hornet?
-
Unfortunately my 3ds skills ain’t that good and the models are vast to manipulate in 3ds max as a whole city.
I kinda learned how to brake them down and do piece by piece.
The thing is the library and reducing the unwanted info in 3ds max or creating rules so to pass low poly buildings in 3ds max.On the previous post it’s Kavala from Macedonia area which is on a mountain and Chania from Crete. I showed it at Ikaros guys but they didn’t like it.
I know they are not final but better than flat texture. Also working on it I would get motivation and experience on how to fine tune it. So here we are.
trying to master simpler stuff first.Don’t waste too much time on that, we will get to it sooner or later

Thanks.

I don’t know if you know

I think you are wrong here, almost every company in video games is doing open alpha, pre-release, early access and not because they have problems.
Sure maybe.
On those you refer to, do they sell them? like DCS does?Because people will buy them. If they can bring it forward 6 months, call alpha/beta “premium early access”, people will pay extra to essentially get an unfinished product early, knowing or unknowingly. A good business plan, but terrible for the game industry and players.

Sure maybe.
On those you refer to, do they sell them? like DCS does?Small and big companies (even Electronic Arts). Basically Early Access guarantees a target or minimum income and then, depending on demand you could increase or decrease quality/number of features threshold. It’s a way of insurance the production.
In the old good days, nobody used this because productions cost was relatively cheaps (two programmers and three artists could make a great game) but today the industry is very different, see the average development budget. So now if you want to make a game, you’ll need to have a very deep pocket (usually selling your soul to a producer) or allow the fans to support your project. There are a third option, loot boxes, but it is more gambling than gaming IMO. -
I would say… only kind-of on that.
Several reasons for why they have the release schedule in question have already been noted, but the primary reason they can do this is the fast internet. “Back in the day,” your product needed to work out of the box because you couldn’t expect someone to spend several hours downloading mere megabytes of information to fix your product. Production costs were indeed lower, but so was bandwidth. If your product was junk out of the box, it would probably stay that way, and you’d do poorly business-wise.
Also, if devs can save money by not paying beta testers, why would they pass that up, especially when the beta testers pay full-price or more for the product!
-
I could have sworn early access buyers of almost every dcs module as of late, got a significant discount to purchase early?

On the other end falcon4 can be considered as early access of alpha product from 1.05US to BMS 4.32
At least you paid only once

BMS and DCS are both great flight sims with each their pro’s and cons. I don’t understand the personification of a product or service you enjoy as a consumer, and the ensuing forum mayhem when these are presented as opposing ‘forces’. They are not, they are two separate entities. There is no ‘1 versus the other’. They are two separate flight sims which you can fly.
DCS has a stake in the fight for more consumers (that’s us) and BMS does not. Two very different business models: I see now DCS F-18 on sale for $79,99 US. Nevada is $49,99 US. Not to mention the money I already spent on it plus the replacement X-56 HOTAS every two years ($250-350 US?) because of planned obsolence. DCS has the “Recommended system requirements” (120gb on SSD for heavy missions?). So that’s another SSD 240GB on it’s way. Starting to become a pretty expensive hobby. :nosep: Seems high end (cost/benefit) for a flight sim. I mean I’ll get it, but I sure hope it is worth the dough :munch:

DCS is cheap compared to what I paid for Xplane and FSX/P3D for planes, terrains and other mods etc……
Do you guys ever get bored of having the same argument all the time?
BMS is great
DCS is great
Xplane is great
fsx is great
etc etcAll great fruits to be enjoyed as the user wishes…

Agreed except for FSX. lol
Those civi sims add up so quick lol.

Never once bought payware for X-Plane… perhaps I’m missing out, but I’ve never been upset regardless.
In fact, the simple stuff is very enjoyable in its own right - I’ve spent countless hours tweaking stuff in Plane-Maker. Last item on this list was Davedd’s Panther/Cougar/Tiger fighters, which had to be updated to X-Plane 8.64. Beautiful planes, even if they’re just Plane-Maker models.

@TwanV:
What can possibly go wrong?:D
BMS and DCS differ enormously. You can fly BMS the same as you would fly DCS but you can’t fly DCS the same as you would fly BMS. It’s just in its infancy, and there is no comparison really (as of yet). Now… :pop2:
i completely disagree, There’s one thing that DCS have and BMS doesn’t: Multiple Avionics.

Because BMS is a viper sim.
-
For me it’s the one that can do most as the real one does.
If I’m not wrong the BMS version is closer to the real thing.
And after all is a thing of preference and likes.
Others say one not perfect but does all, others say one that is perfect to what it does but it can’t do all. -
Hi I am new here but have two cents after returning from 3 days of RIAT (Royal International Air Tatoo) in Fairford UK this past weekend: The Swiss F-18 with updated flight control software to max out angle of attack performance was a sight to behold. The Finnish F-18 has the same software but the Swiss pilot’s perfomance outclassed both the Finnish as well as the Canadian F-18. The Turkish F-16 pilot’s performance even more outclassed all other nations’ viper displays there, with unique manuevering in all three axes at once.
-
Mower crossed a line.
Mower was offensive.
Mower is silly.
Mower is not perfect.
Mower apologizes.
…and I will patiently await proof I am factually incorrect.
Compadre, I have a lot of respect for you, derived over years, so I don’t really think you were offensive, silly,or crossed a line. I do however, agree with others here that you seem to have some animosity toward BMS. I don’t understand that.
I know you’re a Hornet Purist, much more then I am, so I can see a preference for FSX or DCS. However, it seems like you’re not giving credit for what BMS gives us. If I may use myself as an example…I’m happily flying a full campaign where I can jump from Hornet to Viper at will, fly my missions, and most importantly have fun doing it.
For free.
I haven’t tried DCS, I will admit, but FSX got old for me after awhile. I got tired of shooting down airliners and bombing LAX
I’m not even going to get started on how I actually prefer the Viper avionics in the Hornet. It’s not “real”, but it is fun.
However, as a purist, I can certainly see that you’re not going to share that view, and I totally expect and _re_spect that. What I don’t understand is the BMS Bashing I seem to be hearing. Am I misinterpreting?

RIAT was great. It was my first time there and I’ll be back for at least two days next year.
