Seosan Air Base(WIP)

@mhm:
What about now guys? I am having connection issues. That is why you cannot see it probably.
It works now! Keep on going!
-
Yep, now we can see it.
Are you using a sort of “flat feature” (textured plate) to feature the ground or is it the new terrain texture tiles?
-
Yes Dee-Jay, I only used 3ds Max. I tried different approaches actually, I think this is the best method that I tried. I am working for this model since the beginning of the summer, mostly in my free time. I am new at 3ds Max. The beginning has been a little bit painful:)
The biggest problem for me, I am away from my computer for a while. I am using a different computer which is not capable enough. But I learned a lot thing about modeling in 3ds Max.

ok … do me favor, go in flight, and use a TGP (and FLIR, and NVGs) … check if is correctly rendered (?) (real question … so sarcasms here. Nove is used to do the same, but as far as I have been said, the “plate” is rendered as a “metallic” object. I didn’t has the opportunity to check it myself yet)

Since you brought it up, has he, Nove got it down, how the plates work?? In his initial work, there was only a single plate, so one bomb, airbase dead(although the hitbox/aim point was not on the runway). I see that in Tomcatz custom airbases also, a single plate, though his hitbox/aim point is correct.

You can separate the runway in different sections (features) and the taxiway+airbase as a single feature, built from a single plate.
Then, you can assign to it some attributes so it won’t be seen on the FCR GM.
It’s a great way to make a photo realistic airbase without have the photo realistic terrain tiles for it.
Nice approach, we’ve used it for some of the POH airbases as also for the seaports. -

I checked the model with TGP and NVG. I would say it looks bright, not metallic. I think the rendering is OK.
Also guys, I have a question. I am reading the FAA’s Design and Installation Details for Airport Visual Aids. My question is, what is falcon’s limit for realistic lighting? My current knowledge says it is possible but what are your thoughts?

Yeah … checked on my side also. Not perfect, but no so so bad. Lets say “acceptable”.

There is a thread about and I added info of what exists and what needs to be done but  I can’t find it.

The thread is here …good beginning but not much progress. Some of the participants perhaps even MIA. An important topic to continue.

Hello everyone,
Seosan Airbase is ready for operations but there are still a lot of things to do. I edited my first post. Added a view from Falcon Editor. I hope you like it. I will be adding a download link in a couple days.
I have got 2 question. First, I successfully placed the lights but they are always on. How do I turn lights off when it is daytime? Second I need a reliable information about Seosan AB. Especially about lights and ILS. I have found a lot of information about Seosan AB but I want to confirm my information. I placed MALSR for runways 03L/21R and ALSF I for 03R/21L. I wish you all a nice day.
-
Well in order to help you, I can tell you these:
PAPI lights for both RWY’s.
03R: ALSF-1 (A1) and LOC 111.50.
21L: ALSF-1 (A1) and LOC 110.10.
03L: SALSF (A2).
21R: SALSF (A2).Nikos.

Thanks for the help, Nikos. I still need to know how to fix the lights. They are always on. I do not know how to turn them off daytime. Any idea guys?
-
Mhm, learn how to color correct your tiles, so they can blend better with the stock ones.
-
I am also working on texture and skin. It will take some time but I think it gonna worth it.
-
Hello everyone,
I made a runway texture and I need your opinion. I am using Photoshop CC 2017. I know it does not look that good but this is my first attempt for the texture. I am still away from home so my capabilities are limited. Do not forget that I am a newbie for photoshop:).
-
Nice effort, keep on it.
Remark: I see that the side RWY lights on one side are just out of RWY, but not on the other one.
Try to make them the same, means at the outer side to be both
Nikos. -
Thanks Nikos. Your comment means so much. I know lights have problems. I am working completely new lights.

Hello everyone,
After a little break, I am back to the work. Currently studying on z-fighting problem of HAS and hangars. I have to remove under those building. I am talking about something like this:
This process will take some time, unfortunately. Just wanted to update the status. Have a nice day all.

BTW you can play with green value and darkness a bit:
