Ok, great start Pumpy but i have some thoughts i need to share, not only with you but with the rest of community and devs.
We all know that Janhas is already upgrading his excellent F-16 models (introduced at OF) to be compatible with bms and to add a dozen new features. As of my understanding he has also be working and upgrading the F-18 models, so this post isn’t just for this (F-16) thread but also for the “BMS F18 A and C upgrade - community involvement” one. What i can understand is that (except if Jan is now part of the team) bms devs have created a new F-18 model; and now asking community help for skinning?
So, why do we have similar projects running side by side? F-16 models by you and Jan, F-18 from Jan and bms(; )… asking for community skins… Shouldn’t be some collaboration between all model-dev-brains for the best outcome of our community and our new sim? I truly respect Pumpy’s abilities the same way i do for Jan’s products, so (again according to my knowledge) since bms team will officially gather/check/include all mods to future updates, shouldn’t be some alignment between all parties for the best outcome?
Just my considerations perhaps for preventing negative things happening in near future. Please review all these, respect 3rd parties current & future stand-alone mods and their will to spend their free time offering stuff for our hobby, and update us all what to expect.

I think every one is free to do whatever he wants. Whats got approval into official package is another question. I am sure Pumpy already proven to be F-16 master as his models are best in shape in given poly count category. So Go Pumpy Go!!!

Please put a hook in the F16!!!

Any chance of modeling the nose when in cockpit?

All true but you must understand 1 thing. There are 2 types of independent developer and we can count only on 1 of them. What’s the point of BMS waiting for a super-duper model from X while we don’t know if he will hand us over the work to be FULLY managed in the future by the team with permissions to make changes, use other skins etc? Can we really “wait” for anyone? There is a model organization thread now active, if anyone is serious in some real contribution he can take a project, finish it and hand it over for inclusion so EVERYONE can enjoy his fruits. If some independent developer wish to keep his work managed by him alone and offer it as a 3rd party patch its also great but it worth less for the team because we can’t COUNT on it… so you see? complaining for some “duplication” while we DON’T know the intentions of the other independent dev is kinda mute.
Of course I’m speaking in general and NOT specifically on Janhas (or anyone else, I mention Janhas because he has such similar project ongoing) as I’m personally not so much involved really in any 3D/art deving and I have no idea what’s going on behind the scenes and how does independent devs communicate with the team 3D/DB management guys.
As a rule, personally I have never seen much importance of the “rights” that some people hold for their work. Minds should be opened and free of any worries because BMS intentions are to share everything with the community and run this old sim forward so obviously any work or improvement that can be made is for the benefit of the entire community.
But anyway as a 3D modeling/art idiot I’m just happy to see all this stuff being worked on and the community getting back to life. It’s exciting.
Cheers!

It is there already. If you lean up and forward in the cockpit, you’ll see it.

Is right there but not placed at right height, angle, something like that. Its being fixed thanks to the devs!

Of course its at the good place … but in cockpit, your head movements are limited by your helmet (in the sim) so that you can’t see it like without helmet… and rmember that in the pit, you are tightly attched to your seat … you can’t move a lot!
BMS pit view is right.

I totally agree that you might not see the nose when you sit tight but having seen this video(at 0:25)
I think we should be able to see the nose more easily when you put your face closer to the ICP in BMS 6DOF view. -
-
regarding the nose in pit, i think it’s because the nose in the cockpit wings model got too bent downwards thus obscured by the cockpit
compared to the f-16 model

You guys sure about this?I always lean forward and up and do not see a nose sticking out.

loosen the straps.

loosen the straps.
I’ve only been able to see the end of the nose needle but not the nose itself.

@Skwabie
Thank you for the analyze. Like you mentioned I think the nose are placed a little bit lower position with the current one.
Although, its shame I cant provide the data instead of my personal perspective. hehe…
