[New] F16I Skin Project
-
I think the default BMS F-16I colors are the most accurate, but I’d wait for more people to confirm.

My shot.
There have been MONTHS of work in the background from Jan, specially for the Sufa model, since it IS the 1st D model prepared - contains the most polys, as close to the LE limit of ~100k, including CFT’s. All following models are lighter versions than this so the Sufa is the monsters’ mother.
There have been countless hours using a HUGE quality data collection for the Sufa, extremely difficult to be found elsewhere……
So considering the general JanHas quality standards as an artist all these years following his products, his original implementation and release for the Sufa is (FOR ME) as close to the real thing.
Now, to be fair, there are more than 100 real Sufa planes in the IAF roster. It is absolutely logical some airframes to be more hardship than others, so more dirt, color-faded, color-dropped etc. But considering IAF has a full paint authority for these birds means that this state will be for a very short period of time only. I do have pics of such few airframes, but are the exception. JanHas release is an accurate representation of a bird in a “good state” using the realistic Federal Standards color pallet for its camouflage and details.
Anyone is free OF-COURSE to manipulate his personal point-of-view for a game aspect, considering he DOES have the necessary permissions to do it even if he is not intending to publicly release his work and keep it for his Hard-Disk (otherwise no need to make public announcements and post images).
What I don’t like, and I DO want to speak 100% honest, is seeing commends like “make it 100% correct” or “get as close as possible to the real colors and look”, specially from newer members that probably don’t know the background details and hundred of hours invested working on this. It is (OF-COURSE) your(s) choice to even make it pink, but the “color fixes” I see, at least for some of the parts, seem like just playing with RGB curves on parts of the main skins and not a new “repaint”. For example, fuselage ejection seat triangles should be orange and not red, something that can only happen either intentionally if these real decals are red, or unintentionally as an RGP curve alternation to adjust another color/part;
Again IMHO. But I’ve been some times next to the real bird and this color project here is not accurate. Be sure that if the specific model had any issues I would be the 1st one to scream about and push for a fix.
PS: I do like however the new changes on some weapon skins -on the stock models- , until Jan releases his models for these remaining weapons too.

Well since Jan provided only one chroma skin for those is not a bad thing for someone to create variations.
In the past i used Jans shelter but the outer paint was so clean, in Greece in all the photos I’ve seen none was that clean, so i added (with Jans permission) some wear which was common to all unfortunately but was closer to the GR situation.
With this project and the ability to change skins on aircraft it would be a nice addition to have them as alternatives in the skin set. If they are satisfactory Jan can add them as a secondary set of textures. In my opinion when someone wants to build and extend your work is a compliment and a win win for all.

Fuselage ejection seat triangles should be orange and not red.
-
Wingtip pylons had become the same as sand/yellow FS 33531 airframe color… It should be default gray. It seems only a very small pylon part on the front remains as default. Same for the small ecm do-not-paint antennas on the LEF’s.
-
Airframe top black on the refueling point is… too black… Should be dark gray.
-
Roundel Israel star became black from blue…
Speaking versus “photorealistic” vs playing with rgb curves:
Viper FS colors: http://cybermodeler.com/aircraft/f-16/vipercolors.shtml
There is a huge difference between a properly build skin using the correct Federal Standard details, and a game graphics engine plus used monitor to re-image something good. Re-share app can do just fine.

Version3 you posted here: https://www.benchmarksims.org/forum/showthread.php?36568-New-F16I-Skin-Project&p=508837&viewfull=1#post508837 is the most accurate, at least to my none expert eyes.

The colors of the default F16I are more realistic than your’s skin, that i can guarantee. Your skin colors are more closer to the Morocco F16’s than the Israeli one, in my opinion.
I saw F16I “Sufa” lively from up close, and that is my conclusion.
Your skin details are astounding for sure, colors need to be fixed - if you are aiming for a realistic experience. -

WF321 - I already told you Version 3 up there is your MOST accurate version, so I will start by taking that as a reference. Then from there, you can try to improve, I think it’ll make your work easier.
Also, from long time Falcon development experience, I can tell you that you should be 100% open for criticism on your work. You choose to develop something yourself which is by itself more than most do anyway, but the other side of that is that you should be 100% open minded - People looking from the side (Like myself or Asaf up there) only try to help, in order to get you as close as possible.
Cheers!

of course the owner project has the last word, but I did some searches and convertions about the right colors around the web
here the results:
sand : 33531> sRGB: 199; 180; 158
green : 34424> sRGB: 169; 173; 149
brown : 30219> sRGB: 143; 116; 96
grey : 36375> sRGB: 156; 165; 171
about grey underneath some reports 36270 like all f16 in the world except hg5 version scheme.
have fun with your beautiful work
Cheers

Lol,
Same never ending discussion on the scale modelling forum, especially with israeli camo.
there is no such thing as a right colour in our field of 3D or aircraft modelling. (remember the white zero issue, zero were never white)aircraft colours fade in the sun, aircraft weather, light perception is always different, reflexion is always different.
add then scale effect or monitor configuration/calibration and it becomes a true nighmare with always some guys throwing their grain of saltI see some picture in the BMS picture topic that I find really ugly and oversaturated and it seems some ppl find this nice
It’s called colour perception and it’s different from one individual setup or eyes to another. So let the author of the files do as he see fits, after all, he’s the one doing the hardwork
