BMS 4.34 Documents correction report

Merci Lorik,
When you open a campaign, it’s the Autosave.ini that’s relevant
As soon as you open the DTC to save changes and hit save, then the nameofthecampaign.ini becomes relevant and has your saved DTC
If you make further changes like adding a PPT, and reopen the dtc but don’t save it and click load, it will actually remove the last unsaved PPT as it loads you last saved DTCBottom line, the hardcoded selection of DTC when you click load or save is a caveat to the campaign system (IMHO)
I think the whole system should be much easier if both the LOAD and SAVE button from the DTC would open a window and let you decide how to name your DTC save files or which one to load
That would be much more intuitive to save and load DTC file for differnt mission, different flights and differnt days of the same campaign. online or offlineHere comes an idea for a feature request
Many thanks for your time making the video, much appreciated

My pleasure entirely. And yes, definitely a useful feature. We get so much used to do with the UI as it is, that we forget the simplest ways to improve it.

@Red:
where is the error GZA?
??? I just told you what the error was:
This appears to be saying that you cannot share ini files between players before Multiplayer Campaign missions…? This is not true, we do it all the time.
I take the ini file from my campaign folder and distribute it to the other players. They drop it into the campaign folder and when they join the campaign, they have all the PPTs and lines.
I can even send it to people already in the campaign. They don’t even have to leave the campaign. They click Load DTC, it loads.

Sure Gza, and to prove your point, the next edition of the BMS manual will be in frech only
It will be much easier for me …:uham:

BMS Manual p135
“on the taxiway with an operational jet 2 minutes before TOT.”
Default is 4, unless you change falcon bms.cfg.
Edit RD [Fixed]It could be more consistent to have default 6 minutes in case all players jump in 3D in taxi mode, considering this is when ATC is supposed to grant taxi (or later if other flights are taxiing to take-off before).
-
100% agree. Six minutes would be a better default now, given BMS’s new ATC taxiing procedures…

BMS Technical Manual Page 134
Below the Headline “12.4.3 Mode 1 Codes” follows a line where are some numbers, they dont belong there:
Depending on t10.3.4he settings in the “.iff” file, the mode 1 code can be:

The EAST coordinates (Geosan Bridge) are wrong.
it Should be N36°47.024’ ; E128°58.971’(instead of N36°54.660’ ; E128°32.564’which is on the West of the Airbase)

Coming back to that after some tests (and because I’m working on new KTO campaigns, which means new names…)
I named my first mod campaign “Poopeedoo” (name was changed to unmatch reality). When I start a campaign and save my DTC, the name given to the ini file is the one contained in Art\Main\theater.irc as TXT_SCENARIO_1. Here, I find a POOPEEDOO.ini file.
Autosave is not very consistent in my experience. It may not be the best experience since I don’t use it usually.

Hey Red dog,

edit: nvm, my brain was using the PFD on what I fly approaches on, which has a bar on the bottom and the side for loc and gs, respectively, instead of what Falcon uses_….
…which means the manual is CORRECT as is, I was wrong lol_
Firstly, thank you for the amazing piece of work produced…the charts, the manuals, …everything is amazing
Found an simple error where the ILS vertical and horizontal aspects where mixed up in the explanation, looks to be a simple swap.
BMS-Training manual, Mission 4: Night ILS Landing, pg 47:
"…The first emitter is vertical and called the localizer. It guides aircraft
to the runway centreline. The localizer is represented in the cockpit by a vertical bar in the HUD, ADI and HSI.The second emitter is horizontal and guides the aircraft on the optimal glide path to the runway (3° in BMS). It
is called the glide slope and is represented in the cockpit by a horizontal bar in the HUD and the ADI."Might leave a few new guys scratching their heads…lol

Why do you this is oncorrect. Vertical for line-up, horizontal for altitude. Makes perfect sense to me. What am I missing here?

BMS Training Manual V 1.2 Mission 11: Laser guided bombs
Page: 99
…and ground-stabilise the TP with TMS up.
Page 102:
As we approach the target the TGP cursors can be moved…
and
TGP cursor position can still be moved while the bomb is guiding.
I have been struggling with this. After ground-stabilizing with TMS up, I couldn’t properly slew the TGP cursor to the base of the crane. It just kept jumping back to what seemed to be the initial tracking point. With TMS right (area track) it did work and I could move the cursor to the base of the crane, as suggested.
The 34-1 manual explains on page 150 that after a slew in point track, the TGP will try to establish point track again so that explains what i first thought to be erratic behaviour.
The manual is not wrong perse, but my confusion about the slew-behaviour could have been prevented (even considering I’ve read the 34-1 beforehand, but that sort of faded when trying to follow the training manual to the letter).
Suggestion for this missions text:
- use Area Track to ground stabilise to immediately show the slew behaviour hinted on page 102 (so advise TMS-right instead of TMS-up) without the need for deeper knowledge.
- or explain the difference between point track and area track and try to teach the pilot when to use what option (but this would require a bit of copy/paste from the 34-1, making it the lesser option)
Whatever might be done with my suggestion: it has been an educational process nonetheless
