Dlilah TV version useless ? + 4.35 AD BAT self defense don't work ?
-
When i use the TV version i can not spot vehicles on the ground, i have to do several
go around
which is a waste of missile time (23min max) and finally choose a building just to hit somethingUsing IR version, i spot vehicles from far away, even without the
zoom
, one missile pass and the vehicle is destroyed !!!BTW, using 4.35, while i used both missile versions over SA-10 site, there was no attempt by the battery to shoot down the missiles, even when i did 3-4 pass over the target area with the TV version.

I remember testing Delilah TV&IR with 4.35 (before release) and it was working fine against a Sa-10 battalion. I could spot the vehicles and destroy them. What was your weather setting?
As far as the SA-10 engaging the delilah, this never happened with neither the TV or IR during my 4.35 tests and was reported before release.

Summer/day/Sunny/no clouds/visibility 50nm/korea campaign.
Its like the vehicles mesh with the ground texture and i can not recognize them.
I spent 20+ min over the area target but no luck.
Oh, now that i think of this, same thing happens with NAV pod. When i use TV option, i can see vehicles but it is very hard to notice them clearly. So maybe its a graphic problem on my system . . .Then i used the IR version, the vehicles was right under my nose . . .
Next missions i will use only IR, just wanted to share if this is something that others have experianced (4.35 and 4.34U4 same experiance). -
Is TV sensor deagging units (?)

Is TV sensor deagging units (?)
deagging . . . new word for me `-)
can you explain its meaning ? -
Not every object exist in the 3D world. There are 2 states aggregated and deaggregated. Object are added to the 3D world when the come in the bubble. Standoff MITL like the Delilah have their own bubble. So what DeeJay is suggesting that maybe the TV mode selected as Sensor does not trigger the switch of the target states therefore they are visible with IR version but not with the TV

Ok, thanks for the info and from now i will only use IR version to keep it on the safe side
BTW, for me, the delilah is the best & fun weapon to use on BMS . . . especially when it comes to SA-10, so easy to nutrillized this SAM system while staying out of its firing range.I will later put here a picture of the TGP tv picture i get on near sites (10-20nm), don’t know if this is related but i would like to hear what you have to say about the image quality i see during the campaign.

“Its like the vehicles mesh with the ground texture and i can not recognize them.”
I have raised this before and suggested that the “CONT” rocker switch on the MFD bezel should be coded, this would allow you to alter the “Contrast” in the TGP TV picture to avoid the problem that has been raised “regev” - its obviously enabled and useful in RL F16 operations so why cant we have it, please.
Ironman.

Set the AD skill to ACE (in team settings while creating the TE or when starting the campaign). It will intercept gliding HARM’s. If you fire both with a spacing, it kills the first and will snooze the radar on the second, causing them to miss.
The only chance I had as a singleton was coming in low, using the terrain and popping HARM’s 14 miles out. They couldn’t react to the HARM since it only took a few seconds to impact (and the HARM was really fast on impact, about 1300kts), but I had to bait them.
Gliding HARM’s on the SA-10 fired from 50 miles out have little to no chance to actually kill the fire control radar if they are set to ace difficulty. -

AD is set on my korea campaign to ACE (as all other options).
That’s a bit weird.
I never thought of using cruise missiles against the SA-10 though, they are harder to intercept because they don’t stick out that much on the radar like a HARM at 45000ft. And they are no option on US F-16. -

HARM used to be 100% effective in earlier version of BMS, now it is not that good. The delila is great weapon, i like all the work that me, as a pilot, need to do while the weapon on its way to hit the target. -
when it comes to SA-10, so easy to nutrillized this SAM system while staying out of its firing range
In rl is a no-go as it has some additional sams (mostly Sa-15 and Sa-8, but depending the country) to protect it too.
(Not to mention jamming gadgets / ops)

“New shit has come to light”
On my last mission, i lost the connection to the DELILAH while it was on its way to an SA-10 site.
Using TACVIEW it was confirmed that the missile was shot down by an sa-10 missile (2 missile was shot by the unit).
This is fantastic new feature in 4.35, make things more complicated.
Now i will try lower alttitude for the delilah and see if i can hit the sa-10 site. -
TV has such a low contrast on ground targets because it’s literally a black-and-white image (visible light). This basically means that camouflage is working. Most vehicles are painted in a way that they have a similar color as the ground.
In IR mode, you have a hot vehicle on cold ground, giving you a much better contrast.

and this has been fixed before release as demonstrated by this poster here :
i just want to point out that the SAMS , even SA10 have not a PK of 100% against missiles.
Basically, there is a dice rolled when a missile is detected, and if the dice is under the defined PK, the SA10 does not launch.
I have given a fair thinking about the fact i could make then fire anyway and make them miss the target, on one side it was better looking, on the other side, this was a missile loss for the SA10 which is not very good in campaigns.
i prefered to make the choice to not waste amissile and “simulate” that the incoming missile was not detected

Or, attach to an sa-10 unit other AD units (sa-15 and such) that will engage the incoming missiles in short range.
That way, sa-10 will focus on aircrafts.I like the AD own defence feature in 4.35, make things more complicated

JFYI for this part of the world we have deployed Patriot and Sa-10 (S-300) batteries, in places that are also always covered by at least one of the systems Skyguard, Hawk, Crotale, Sa-15. There are always Stingers around, jammers, sforces. Most if not all systems can receive and send picture data through their links, to ground radar stations, to ships radars, to Awacs, for fusing the theater aerial and assets picture to L16.

Basically, high value asset.
