Update on 4.35 U2
-
Thanks all for the kind responses. Enthusiasm is what drives this community
@jayb I cannot answer your question directly, since I don’t know about the tool (sorry about that). MavJP is usually the one who looks most at the public bugs and collect the useful information. I eventually looked at the forums and, at the beginning, I found some very useful information. After a while, the reports became either:
- random or without logs (which we couldn’t do much until we fix some other stuff causing this)
- reports of known issues;
- reports of things we already fixed.
But yes, any reports are good, specially the ones we can duplicate. Also, from this forum I got some very good info from Abelian on how to find corrupted memory bugs. I ended up doing differently, but his thread put me on the right track.

Thanks for this update.
Quite a different experience than the typical “3 to 4 Weeks” answer history this forum is so well known for.

Anyway expect possibly U2 in 3 to4 weeks

Thanks Seifer for the sitrep, take your time to obtain a stable version.
Out of curiosity, to what extent did the new Bug reporting tool by Bluwolf make a difference ? Ie. do you want us to keep posting stuff there ?
Great work by all of you, highly appreciated from DK !
To be honest, right now, we are past beyond the point of the bug tracker…
We are going down the rabbit hole of bugs solving, memory leaks and optimisations. The goal still stays to offer a good and stable version!
BMS team members are testing the hell out of this version internally to make sure we reach the level of quality we want.
Cheers

Maan, you really don’t wanna know, I’ve picked up somekind virosis and my digestion is “waterflow” last week, … so it isn’t half a joke.
But joke aside… I am grateful for all work and happy for upcoming release… whenever it hits. Thumbs UP.:thumb:

From my perspective, jayb: I’d very much like it to continue being used. A key purpose for the public tracker is to try to avoid duplicate reports, so as to decrease the time required for devs to sort through forum threads. Another is to reduce or remove people reporting issues that have already been fixed - as ideally there will already be an issue reported and marked as “resolved”.

Blood on the streets
Runs a river of sadness
Blood in the streets
It’s up to my thighs…FLASHBACK ALERT!
There’s blood in the streets, it’s up to my ankles
Blood in the streets, it’s up to my knee
Blood in the streets in the town of Chicago
Blood on the rise, it’s following me…A) I’m from Chicago…
B) …I once spent 2.5 weeks in a hospital bleeding out after a colonoscopy…lost an estimated 3 pints.
And I’ve always liked this song.

Curious that you guys mentioned this… I was on our channel talking to our test team and said: I know that is a bug in there, “but I still haven’t found what I’m looking for”… So, news on U2.
We are still doing a lot of tests. We had a promising candidate last week (candidate 8 ), but when I enabled compiler optimizations, lots of new crashes showed up. Since then, we generated 13 other ones… lol, right we are at candidate 21.
Candidate 21 runs solid on my system: left it running bear trap campaign in 3d, 4x time compression, for 12 hours with page heap enabled. No CTDs and was still running. I also flew 3 MP missions, one server crashed at the beginning, but the other 2 went smooth.
But, we still have some folks having consistent CTDs with it and we are trying to find the cause. Also, the testers are pushing hard: time compression, changing views all the time, things like that.
We are making progress. Tens of bugs squashed and a deadlock removed. But sorry, I cannot give a detailed deadline, only the usual 3-4 weeks.
And if you are one of those that really cannot wait, please consider joining our test team

…actually, I like this one -
A rare one and hard to find, as printed. Released during my final year at college…and I want that Strat!

@seifer what about performance, without shaders its very good , and what about performance in the future
btw you have impressed me with your social skills
i would like to be on your beta team but i have not time and no one would trust me to enter lol i have asked this question to some ppl but they dont take the risk to talk to the team they consider me black sheep
anyway if you can talk about performance in the future pls share

As long as U2 i would show my first actual encounter with the band (and still have it on 12-inch 45 vinyl)
