What if: Falcon 5 (Poll)
-
It was in fact tried already - MP “tried to buy us”, not the product (Which isn’t for sale, either) but “us”. But we aren’t up for sale… they don’t have enough money to pay us ROFL.
Interesting, but honestly hardly surprising. I mean, if you’re MP and want to get back into this and needed Dev’s, where else would they go?
-
… though at some point the Viper itself is going to appear outdated.
Yet WW1 and WW2 flight sims still have dedicated user-bases. Form is temporary, Class is permanent. Ergo, F-16 Falcon will remain permanently is peoples hearts.

Probably. Especially if BMS continues - I have a feeling there will never be another desktop sim as comprehensive as the Falcon 4.0, FAF, or BMS F-16. Vipers always!

My dream Falcon 5 would be a simulator with major quality modern pilotable aircraft, on a full earth theater and not only F-16.

Love that comment however this would be true if it was the 90s .nowadays it will be a constant connection to the server even on Single player, It will be buggy but they will make the buggy world free to play with a SFM non appropriate aircraft and ton of SPAM ADs to upgrade to a Bug fixed Module , Add on Early access modules will sort some of the bugs but you wont get some of the systems modeled and a plethora of other unfinished Modules to choose from.
To be devil’s advocate here, it took years for Falcon to become stable even at the end of the golden age of flight sims, and a lot of that development was done for free by the community. Yes, ED makes you pay and pay, but most of those modules would have been stand alone sims in the 90s, which 1998’s $50USD of those titles new would be $80 in today’s money and Falcon was far from done when released. Unfortunately, I think if you don’t what to follow the stupid subscription model, EDs model is the only way a developer can get enough income to make it work. Yes, they overpromise and underdeliver in their EA stages (and somewhat even so with finished products). But as I-Hawk infers, most software companies can’t afford it and even then they are going to not make enough profit in the long run to make it worth it.
We are so lucky that the source code got leaked so long ago and then to have a dedicated community to first make it as envisioned when first released and then take it beyond our dreams.

.For me also, I would like a full globe theater with most flyable aircraft on it. Like an MS2020 just with full military capable.

Big Graphic / Sound Update. Falcon doesn’t need to be DCS Just pushed to it’s visual limit and I’m happy

I think this is most probably the only way forward - add-ons to MSFS 2020. For one, I know that Micro-$$$ had help from MCAIR in developing it’s original Hornet model for MSFS, so they have something decent to start with. The basics are certainly there, but I think it would be up to a third party to bring a tactical add-on - the VRS F/A-18F and TAC Pac combination for MSFS 2020 appear to be the most promising, but is starting to feel like it’s fallen behind schedule. I know I’m certainly looking forward to it, as I already have their F/A-18E for the older MSFS and have to say it’s pretty well done.

It has already begun.

I dont recognize your authority to conduct this poll…:-P

VRS is probably working on a MSFS Tacpack right now. But given the current state of the SDK, it will most probably take a long time, if they ever make it. Flight model for fighters is another issue. And collimated HUDs.
But there is a functional Tacpack for FSX/P3D. The aircraft, weapons and terrain (improvable with mods?) are most likely not on the level of Falcon or DCS, but it is a global combat flightsim.

Most important would be to get out of F-15/F-18/F-16/F-4/Mig-29/Su-27/Su-35 world : we have this for years and this is just boring : we need something more than this !

https://www.vrsimulations.com/tacpack.phpI know this addon, but it is way far from to be a realistic military level. there is no damage model, no FM, no physics. The aircraft use the same avionics like an civil commercial plane etc.
And there is no military target and enemy behaviour. -

And there is no military target and enemy behaviour. This is not fully right, VRS F/A-18E has a custom avionics suite, and a simulated FBW system.

I keep pushing the red button, but no Falcon 5 comes out…

There is already a TAC Pac available for the old MSFS, so again they have something to start from -

The VRS Super Hornet is probably the most “current” and relevant Hornet sim I’ve seen since the Jane’s one, and like the Jane’s one models real Hornet avionics/displays - just not ALL of them and not in the most current cases, but at least they are/were fantastic and very well implemented for what they did in accord with their release dates.
The only complaint I have (and it’s not strictly a complaint, really) with the MSFS Hornets is that the model is very sensitive to what controller you’re using - it wants very stiff controllers, probably because of the MCAIR involvement with the development and using real or near real numbers…it’s very easy to over-control them with something like a CH stick, and frankly it was fooling around with the Legacy Hornets in MSFS that made me relegate my own CH stick the the back of a closet. I MUCH more prefer how stiff the Warthog stick is, and if I could make it stiffer I would.

The B17 game from MP… Was and is one of my favorite titles… It was posted to be playable an modern computers through GOG and now Steam. So pumped that they are remaking it

@Hanash:
BMS will remain a low-cost alternative:D
alternative to what?
