@Seifer Looks nice on the AV-8B, worked a treat!
-
@Kavelenko Very nice. The Harrier will most likely be a jet we put the mirrors in.
All, yesterday we were talking about “transplanting” the 4.36 OFM Theaters(and those we collaborate with) to 4.37. To date we have tested, with no problems …
OFMKTO
OFM-Balkans
Korea 2012
Nevada
Viet Nam
Taiwan
Nordic
The only bug is that the first IU screen has the Korea map. We’re aware of that ,and it will be addressed in future updates -
@drtbkj
All, there is another minor bug with using 4.36 theaters in 4.37: in the UI, the flag icons for the various countries always default to KTO flag icons (instead of the expected country flag icons for the theater). This behaviour exists in all of the above tested theaters, but appears to be purely cosmetic in nature. I have only tested TEs and have not tested campaign or dogfight. But so far no issues with 4.36 TEs running in their appropriate theater in 4.37. I did not “install” the theaters in 4.37 using the theater installers - I just copied the entire theater(s) folder from …Falcon BMS 4.36\data into Falcon BMS 4.37\data and then updated the …Falcon BMS 4.37\data\TerrData\Theaterdefinition\theater.lst file appropriately for each added theater.

@Tomcattwo Thanks, T2, and thanks for the pm that got that particular ball rolling. UI interaction with our Theaters will be addressed when we get to the point of putting out our 4.37 Theaters. BTW, those will most likely be installers.
I mention installers to address your point about how we both “transplanted” the theaters. You do just copy( I literally moved ) the entire “add-on…” folder from 4.36 data to 4.37 data, and as you mention, the theater.lst. . I simply copied my 4.36 .lst and replaced the 4.37 one.
In the “transplanted” theaters , even any TE’s ,etc., you’ve made will work in 37.
I should mention again that if you want to put the OFM flight model (acdata) files in the stock theaters, you may have an issue with cockpit visualization. When I tested our F-18E dat/afm in the stock KTO it worked but had a Viper cockpit! That’s because 4.37 organizes Art folders differently. There is an easy fix(2, in fact) that will also be addressed in the OFM 4.37’s.
At this point we (the OFM) feel we have basic compatibility with 4.37 worked out. We are moving to the point where we are discussing how to implement the jets’ 4.37 system changes. Last night in our Discord we were discussing the new ECM version and how to put it in the Hornet and Other Jets -

Hi, All. I’ve been afk for a couple of days, but as the poet said, I’m baaack.
Asleepwater, I just installed 37 and haven’t even been inside , yet. So, it’s hard to say exactly what we plan to do, beyond the promise that we will continue to do “our stuff” on the Other Jets. You asked specifically about Hornet/Other Jet avionics. In the past we have been limited in that regard due to lack of hard code access. A very exciting part of 37 for me is finding out if you work with the files differently… I took a very brief look at the files on the way here . The acdata files look the same and Maria Files are not in the stock F-18C. The good news our Art files are in so the cockpit hotspots should be good. So, a very preliminary Plan A will be to put our acdataFiles in 37 to see how they work. Seifer says very little was done to the Hornet, which frankly to me at least is good news. We won’t have to start from scratch. Then, an OFMKTO 4.37, then the other Theaters.
Seifer, thanks for the post. I can’t wait to fly 37! We’re also interested in the "new " bird you mention. Please pass alond to the Dev’s that our offer to help is still there.
Jeckal, I know you want to know about the Tornado. The good news there is is if the Hornet FM files works, the Tornado’s should too (cross fingers)F18A and C shall have hasNASA 2 in their AFM files

Yes, Mav, that is true, and thanks for that. In fact, my complements on the “stock” 18C model. The 18E does not, have HN2 and hence no autothrottle, etc…

Good Day, All,
Todays update is about OFMKTO and the other Theaters we work with for 4.37. At the moment we are working on some jet-specific projects , but the Theaters will be coming. Eddie is telling me Brother CCC has given us new jets. We’ll also soon be talking with Brother Chuckles and hopefully others about moving forward. Also, there is the question of integrating 4.37 things like the new ECM,CATM,etc. into our stuff.
We are unsure, given how well our transplanted Theaters are “talking” to 4.37, whether they will be Hotfixes or Standalones. But, they will have Installers -
are the files developed by the OFM good for every theater or just select theaters?
-
@JUmpstart5179 Generally, we say that our flight model, etc, files work with our OFM Family Theaters . Those are Theaters we make ourselves( OFMKTO and OFM-Balkans) and those we collaborate with. You can tell which they are as we put “OFM” in their names for that reason. However, we have tested our acdata files in the stock 4.37 KTO without disaster, specifically the F-18E. You may end up with the wrong cockpit installed, but that is an easy fix.
Whether your jet will have the new functionality like the ECM changes is unclear ATM. I can tell your “our” F-18C has the new RWR “chevron” function in the OFM Theaters in 4.37 . IDK if that will be the case if you put our files in the stock KTO. IMHO, it will, but let us know if it doesn’t
Also, PLEASE note, we have not tested our files in Balkans or any other non-OFMF Theater .
My advice, and what I personally do, is test but proceed with caution, with backups at each step. -
HI drtbkj. Do the latest OFM scripts and developed model files have a separate plate or a page, in which various file download links and manual links are stored? So you can find it quickly. You can also quickly update the link.

@asleepwater Hi, there. I’m not sure I understand your question. If you mean in the Mafia Files, then the answer is yes. For example, https://www.mediafire.com/folder/g021lul58qoj5/1799(f18c.Install+Pack+ver.12.22.22) will get you the current F-18C Files.
If that’s not what your asking, let me know .
BTW, everybody, when I get to the 4.37 Mafia Files( not even 3-4 Mafia Weeks ), they will look different. In 4.37 the way the Art folders are organized has been changed, and we will be going to that method ourselves. -
Good Day, All. Here’s an Update: Today we’re working on a few things. Mainly, the aforementioned Art file conversion, CATM and the new mirror mod , and the new ECM capabilities in our Theaters . We have decided to go with the IDIAS format for a couple of reasons.
One thing I’m having an issue with is CMS Left. The f18C,E, and F-35C ( my current main test ac) are still doing the old method of CMS left does Manual Prog. 6, even though my CMS left is mapped to the current call back. I’ve read IDIAS is modeled only to certain jet variants, and I’m wondering if these jets are not “on the list” as it were. So, can someone tell me if you’ve found a jet with working IDIAS, and if so which jet it is?
When/if we get it working, then I’ll work on how to get one flare per press, as that’s how I set my CMS up. -
@drtbkj Have you tried the HAF jets?
-
@unkindled Not yet, thanks for the tip

@unkindled said in BMS Other Fighters Mafia (BMSOFM) Journal:

Unkindled, I found the f16cm52 HAF which does indeed have IDIAS. Also, CMS functionality was answered. It works “the old way” when jammer is not operating, and to control ECM priority when it’s operating. We’re moving forward with putting this function in the Hornet and hence the Other Jets

Good day, All. We have “installed” IDIAS in the F-18C and also tested in the F-35C. To do so, go to x/4.37/data/OFM Theater/sim/acdata for your jet and change avionicsRWRType to 3. Then , you paste …
SimXMTASPISOper 116 0 0XFFFFFFFF 0 0 0 1 “ECM: XMTASPIS Knob - Operate”
SimXMTASPISStdby 116 0 0XFFFFFFFF 0 0 0 1 “ECM: XMTASPIS Knob - Standby”
SimXMTASPISToggle 116 0 0XFFFFFFFF 0 0 0 1 “ECM: XMTASPIS Knob - Toggle”
to x/4.37/User/config/BMS-Auto.key and assign a keybound and/or HOTAS command as you prefer.

That is indeed the trade off, you do lose the HUD RWR display. That is why there is some debate as to whether we include IDIAS in our upcoming OFM Theaters or go for the more realistic version with the HUD display.
Which would you like? -
the main question for me is what implications does it have on the ECM system? My understanding is that only the HOTAS function is affected? If so, I wouldn’t mind to change the RWR. If XMIT1-3 still works as intended I think the relevant functions are implemented.

I’ve been testing to try to answer that very question, primarily in the Dogfight module. The results are somewhat subjective. The questions are:
- Are there any noticeable difference in sensor performance between Avionics and ECM Priority . Answer: Unclear, at least in the close ranges involved in DF. I’m about to start testing in real missions.
- Is there difference in the jamming effectiveness, in terms of both the “old” jammer vs. IDIAS , and the 2 XMIT priorities. Answer: no degradation
