I don’t have a problem with AMRAAMs not hitting anything at all, but with picking the wrong target.
I.e. when I launch two AMRAAMs in TTS at two MiG-21 (the two flying away from you in Instant Action wave 3, they’re not that close to each other and don’t maneuver at all until pitbull) from Rtr (17 NM or so), there’s something like a 50% chance that the AMRAAMs actually hit both targets, in the other 50%, both missiles pick the same MiG.
I would need to test that a little more, it’s probably more than 50%, but often enough, it doesn’t work as intended. I might also try if STT makes it better.
That’s because you still don’t accept that the target cue can be Miles away from the real target , and it also heavily dépendant of the distance between the target and the shooters radar. STT will be more accurate but still
Is that radar inaccurancy visible in the HUD? I always see TD boxes that are perfectly on target.
I mean, I probably know the answer: “4.38 will have inaccurate TD boxes and radar screens.”

In BVR you see the TD box perfectly on a target, that you can not see (Beyond Visual Range). That’s exactly my kind of humor!

@Razor161 Smart Scaling is a pathway to abilities some consider unnatural.
Seriously, I usually don’t launch from that far, it’s usually around 15NM. That’s still kind of BVR, but in BMS it’s close enough to see a dark dot in the middle of the TD box.

Not always when you’re close enough and your radar loses the lock (and extrapolates).

no , the innacuracy is a sum of several innacuracy that you can’t see in the hud

There’s TGP. You can indeed see it “drift” away from bugged radar target, in between scan contacts, in RWS or TWS modes. It doesn’t appear to drift miles and miles… but point is you can see the target, and get a sense of scale of the error between scan updates ~ 5 seconds or so.

He referred to the TD box on the HUD.

@Razor161 yes, presumably one and the same, right? in terms of what information the jet has on the position and relative velocity of the target

We have tested the new features and improvements of AMRAMM. The ACMI files speak for themselves.
Small spoiler: none of the missiles has hit…
Falcon BMS 4.37.1
Theater: Balkan 1.07.1
Threat: Single Mig-29S, Level: RookieHere the link to my google drive with the files.
-
@EuKeule
You might have to make the file publicly available. At least I’m not able to download it. -

Yes, make your ACMI available publically and it’s only going to tell some of the story.
I can tell you that I’ve launched these at mig 29, Su27, F15, F16, J20 AI and had great success. Engaged Human F16’s from inside of 15 NM and very High PK, depending on how aggressive the bandit defends. You have to launch within the WEZ and not the RMax. That shot is so easily defeatble it’s a waste of a missile.Also what modes are you launching in TWS, STT, TTS and are you supporting all of the missiles all the way to pitbull or are you snipping them?
Missiles aren’t magic anymore and if you are comparing them to the old you need to get that out of your head. The old missile was wrong.
There needs to be a target whithin the narrow FOV of the missile when it goes pitbull or it’s not going to hit. So if you don’t support the missile until PB it’s probably going to miss especailly if the bandit is anythign other than head on.
Also on the SMS page. Is the missile set to Small, MED , unknown etc…
Waiting on the ACMI…

The data and code between KTO and the Balkans is the same. If you can shoot down in KTO, it should work in the Balkans too.
-
@EuKeule Share the ACMI publicly. Would love to see what’s going on in them. Considering the heavy in depth testing that was done on the considerably improved missile, we saw nothing but great results (if fired properly and supported properly), huge improvements with missile track and terminal guidance. As Sandman mentioned above…‘the magic missiles you had in the past are gone because they were wrong’. Now the missiles also miss when they should miss and ‘should’ hit when you put them in their best possible parameters to hit…obviously there are many factors that need to be taken into account to get a hit.
Share the acmi so we can all take a look! Also give us some more info, what mode you launched in, fully supported to pitbull? Over a networked connection or SP? … answer maybe in the details… rest we will see in the acmi’s including range, aspect, altitude, energy, etc…

@cougar56th I don´t think it´s a Balkan issue, it´s an AMRAAM issue

i that MP game ? because to me it looks like a very broken MP game with huge issues of Positioning and Bandwith / lagging issues
because out of the hundreds of AIM120 we all launched those last 3 weeks, we never seen this

I’ve seen ACMI’s like this before and it’s usually when there are questionable Pings. Was this a MP game or hosted on a MP server? If so what are you up/down BW settings, server settings etc? Also was this AI in the Mig 29 or human?
