Massive FPS Loss
-
When chasing frames is more important than playing the sim, there’s a problem. Turn the frame counter off and just play. Spend your time learning the new nuances of the avionics instead of staring at a (mostly) irrelevant number in the corner of the screen.
Yeah, i generally agree. However, I never looked at my frames in BMS in 4.32 because everything was smooth. I’m looking now in 4.33 (as i’m sure are others), because the decrease is resulting in an obvious degradation in play/smoothness. I think people’s reaction and attempt to justify the relatively low frames on powerful computers is normal.
Please don’t get me wrong, the changes are welcome and everything looks awesome. I am appreciative of threads like this to see what others are doing to improve their experience and to give me piece of mind that my brand new rig isn’t f-ing up somehow.

I generally agree with you. But like Harlequin pointed out, when it degrades the experience, or I feel the need to be conservative with TGP and Mav screens it does take me a bit out of the sim. Never started counting frames until recently.

I Recomend NVIDIA , my old gtx660 2Gb runs 2560x1440 rez avarage fps 40-60 in campaing over flot in day one. All settings on, only Motion Blur off.
AA set in game, level 4
Intel 3570K oc to 4,2ghz now
And 12gb of ramAll SSD drives
Win10 64bit pro
What is your original CPU clock speed?
-
What is your original CPU click speed?
Stock is 3,5ghz and 3,8ghz turbo clock if i remeber right
-
I’m not sure if this will help everyone
I seem to be getting a FPS boost when I use processor lasso – initially have been using it for CMANO -left it on and got a boost -game felt much less laggy

How to get more FPS AND get Falcon bms 4.33 to look BETTER:
1. Nvidia control panel: Set: Prefer maximum performance.
2. Falcon BMS setup-graphics: Trees and grass sliders to zero.
3. Falcon configuration: Rain rings uncheck, Far rain uncheck, Reduce particle system check.
Better looking and higher fps.
Cheers!

I should read this thread before I buy gtx970.
now it is too late.It is true somehow gtx970 does not work well with bms4.33.
Compared to my previous card: gtx560, gtx970 only add 5-6fps.
https://www.benchmarksims.org/forum/showthread.php?24925-GTX970-owner-please-post-your-fps -
Sad to hear that. I was looking for a solution and was onto upgrading. Thx for sharing as it saves me money. TFR TE all on 28 fps. intel 3770, gtx 670, 1920x1080, ssd.
It just seems it doesnt react that much to hardware. Setting high performance in the nvidia control panel is what boosts the most in my setup.Hope you get to run better.
Cheers!!

I have an i7-3770 (non-k model…locked via BIOS to the “turbo” speed of 3.9GHz) paired with a ASUS Strix 2GB GTX960 at stock clocks and 8GB of ancient RAM. I have almost all eye-candy turned ON with the exception of smoke shadows and cloud reflections on water (because I just personally dislike the reflections). In the campaign, even with terrible weather and the TGP/WPN pages on, I never drop below 30FPS. Even over the FLOT. South of the FLOT on ingress/egress I’m locked at 60FPS no matter what.
As you can see, my PC is very modest but I’m able to get great performance in 4.33 and many other games. Some of the other games I play and the performance I get:
Shadow of Morder, Ultra preset: 60FPS
Sniper Elite 3, Ultra preset: 60FPS
Watch Dogs, Ultra preset: 60FPS
Arma 2 OA, Most settings maxed: 40-60FPS
FSX with REX, FTX Global and Vector, ASN, and the PMDG NGX flying out of Flightbeam KDEN, All FSX settings maxed: 30-40FPS
Silent Hunter V5, Ultra preset: 60FPS
The list goes on…My secret? I keep my PC EXTREMELY clean. No adware, no malware, no viruses. Very deep and thorough scans on a regular basis using various free software. I also keep it physically clean by blowing out dust on a regular basis and always ensuring I have adequate cooling. No unnecessary software running at any given time. Regular defrags on HDDs. Windows running on a dedicated SSD. It all adds up to a high performing PC even with moderate/mid-range hardware.

I have some weird issue I cant figure out with fps.
My frames drop from mid 30’s down to 5-8 while just flying around. Just installed 4.33 yesterday so I haven’t tried to optimize setting yet, but I should be getting better frames than that.Only other game currently installed is Arma 3 and I run that on ultra high and maintain 40-45 fps.
Forgot specs
Win 10
GTX 750 TI
8GB ram
1TB HD -
This is most unlikely true… One key thing to remember is not all drivers are created equal. You have just added a ton more overhead and you got an improvement as well. Pretty fair trade IMO. It’s a great card and it should last you for some time.

the worst fps loss is FLIR and TGP.
playing the TFR training mission with no FLIR, I get 47fps.
playing the TFR training mission with FLIR on HUD, I get 24fps.
FPS loss: 47-24 = 23playing the LGB training mission with TGP off, I get 60fps.
playing the LGB training mission with TGP on, I get 40fps.
FPS loss: 60-40 = 20and by changing the vga card from gtx560 to gtx970,
this fps loss stays more or less the same.so this must be more affected by cpu?
is this correct? -
Most probably.
I just changed my rig, going from an AMD A10-7700K to an Intel I5-4460 (same amount of RAM, same GPU, i.e. an R9-270X), and I got a lot more FPS : instead of 15/20 fps with TGP on I now get 40/45, and the game is now playable and enjoyable.

I thought that the most influential factor for fps is the clock speed
since bms does not take advantage the multi cores fully.
So this is not true anymore for 4.33?Mine is i3@4,4ghz.
your i5-4460 is 3,2ghz ? -
From all of the to date posts about 4.33 performance on various rigs and hardware configurations - is it not a factor of having high end Intel (as opposed to AMD) processor to be most influential? Of course good GPX is also important, but not as much as the GPU. I know it is perhaps to big generalization, but still it looks to me, that this might be the case?

your i5-4460 is 3,2ghz ?Well, my AMD was theoretically a bit faster but, as Polak just wrote, it seems there’s a problem with some AMD processors. For some unclear reason, they’re not good at running Falcon, in spite of a decent clock speed.

Because falcon is single core program, AMD single core performance sucks.
And AMD 4,0ghz is slower that 4,0ghz Intel because AMDs old technology. Just Google some reviews
http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/fx-4170-core-i3-3220-benchmarks,3314-7.html dual core Intel is even better or equal
Clock vs clock Intel makes more work

If bms4.33 is still a single core program,
why is my i3-530 o/c to 4,4Ghz with gtx970 slower than I5-4460 with R9-270X?It does not make sense.

Gtx 970 has problem with BMS
And I5 is faster than I3 , maybe because BMS is multi threaded program (not same as multicore) and I5 is better tech than I3.
But AMD sucks anyway for simming where pure calculation performance is what maters
