If you have Weapon Delivery Planner (WDP) then the estimated taxi time is shown.
I can’t think of anywhere else where this info is displayed.
Drtbkj explained above.
For sure, but WDP can always be there even when ATC has a brain fart.

Ah, yes, and the 2D UI before that. Not the OP question though, especially when it comes to change from 2D UI and WDP with 3D contingencies.

All,
I want to thank everyone who replied. I appreciate it.
Just for added context. I have flown Falcon and its predecessors, on and off, since its release. Although now in my late 50’s I can still foundly remember waiting for the shop to open on the day it was released in the UK to buy my copy.
Let’s call it the “crossroads period” just post release of the code, when various “branches” and a whole bunch of hassle was required to just simply fly sort of drove me away somewhat. Looking back this probably coincided broadly with my transition to DCS I guess.
However, the work of the BMS team and the unification of versions, coupled with the new launcher and set up interface piqued my renewed interest!
To be honest, and I know we all love different aspects of our flight simulation, the ATC implementation has always been my “love” and nothing, simply nothing comes even close to the BMS experience.
In comparison the DCS ATC experience is weak at best, and incidentially not really improved with the carrier comms implementation either in my view.
Anyway, hopefully that explains my original question. I was curious because I can’t actually ever recall Gound ever giving me a time. Sure “hold”, “you are No x” but not a specific time and I was looking for a way to ensure It did. Probably about time here now to confess to not being a “ramp” starter but more a “Taxi” guy.
Also appreciate the replies re WDP. My query was more the 3D ground call rather than where to find the taxi or take off time in written form.
I’ve rambled enough but just to say thanks again!!
Regards,
Gary

You might very much enjoy some form of voice control in that case, so you can talk to ATC, etc. in natural speech to trigger the appropriate keypress for that Radio command. There are several options available in the Voice Control section of these forums from the free FoxVox software by Foxter to the many public profiles/plugins shared for the VoiceAttack program, and even some entries for the (outdated/deprecated) VAC program which used to be the only option. Personally, I enjoy VoiceAttack because I can create my own command systems and then release them for public use.
Regardless of the voice software choice, voice control itself requires a quiet room and some speech training sessions in Windows, but makes for seriously engaging interactions with many PC games and simulators such as Falcon BMS and DCS.
I make several public voice command profiles for VoiceAttack such as my AVCS4 BMS Radio Menus profile which allows us to talk to ATC, Tower, Wingman/Element/Flight, etc., with our own voice. It’s a very immersive experience, and AVCS4 BMS handles most any way we can think to say something. Most recently, I developed a plugin for VoiceAttack that incorporates OpenAI and ChatGPT technologies - it is a very comprehensive voice control software, we can make most anything we can dream up with VoiceAttack, which is why I’m a superfan and recommend it when I have the opportunity.
Best wishes and welcome (back) to BMS!! Good luck with the Tobii 5

Thank you. Yes, I am aware of Voice Attack and have this installed.
I’ve started to build my own very basic profile within it but experience sketchy results.
To try and simplify and hopefully improve the recognition rate, I’ve programmed single words initially - for example just programming it to recognise “Taxi” as meaning T3 but even doing that is no replacement for the “windows” training needed I suspect.
(I did see your AVCS4 posts but it looked a little complicated to me!)
I will however keep at it and go through the training required of course.

Gary

Actually, it is more difficult for Windows Speech Recognition to catch single words. It is far better to form phrases or sets of words to give it a fighting chance. It is also important to run through the speech training sessions completely through at least three times.
Things get easier in time, like working with any software. There’s help available, too - on their forums or Discord. Have fun and take care!

@Gary Semler knows his stuff, don’t be intimidated by AVCS. IMHO, it’s simpler to personalize that then to start from scratch. But whatever voice program or method you use, you don’t have to cheat your immersion with single word commands.
Here’s a couple of tricks for you… Example 1: “Two, go Fluid”. AVCS will actually combine wingman and go fluid. I believe the program calls that a derived command
Example 2- "Hornet ball “. VA can do that , but sometimes my voice recog. borks. In that case, use a word that sounds like it. So, ,in this example, my VA command is actually “Hornet Bowl” . Works every time.
Example 3a) Hornet Ball, state 5.0” . As we’ve discussed, VA will take care of the Ball part. But, and this is a favorite “immersion maker” for me, take a very brief pause then say “state 5.0” .It took we a bit of time to figure out the proper pause length, but once you get it you can say the whole phrase and it won’t mess up VA. For me it became so force of habit I don’t even think about it anymore.
3b) "Two, go Spread. Three, go Fluid. " Both are covered by VA . But, with the pause you can say it all together and the Wingie and element will respond properly, just like you’re talking on the radio. -

"Hornet ball “ . . my voice recog. borks
“Hornet Bowl” . . Works every timeI’m trying to figure out what accent, would result in one of these being easier for voice reco than the other… East-Anglican? Australian?

Firstly, I would like to thank everyone for their advice and recommendations. I will certainly look into AVCS for sure after I’ve got myself a decent mic and undertaken the windows voice training properly!
Just as a quick update.
After working my way through the documentation again, I did manage to trigger the ground controller response for an expected taki time! - TE training mission 23 prompts this response consistantly as you are No2 for taxi behind the Hawkeye - albeit in the Hornet of course - but it worked!
The ATC constantly amazes me!! - just curious if there are any plans to keep this element of the sim way ahead of the competition going forward? - any plans for 4.37.2 or 4.38 anyone is aware of?

Gary

I thought I’d ask on this thread rather than create another for ease.
Is there any way to add, or increase, a pause when ATC gives you freq changes?
It sounds to me that when ATC tells you to switch and freq beginning with “2” that what they are saying is switch “to” 53.500 rather than what is actually being said is switch “253.500”
I obvously understand what they are saying - just occurs to me that a slight pause between “switch” and the freq would be cool.
So instead of ATC saying “switch 253.500” it comes across as “switch (insert short pause) 253.500”
Hopefully the above makes sense!
I assume probably not doable or easily anyway but though I’d ask just in case.

Gary

@Gary I can 100% recommend @SemlerPDX’s Voice Attack profile. He’s also awesome at support when PICNIC situation happens and I’m back up and running in no time.
As for your new question, I don’t think there is a way to do this. I’ve just learned to be more proactive and anticipate what the next freq has to be and even enter it and just switch when told to do so.
-
Thanks Atlas - I do already have his profile - to which I’m about to add the Crew Chief addition!!
Thanks for the heads up though. You are one of many who recommended AVCS - for obvious reasons.
No worries about the pause question - I’ve no trouble understanding what the freq is (I prefer no subtitles) - it was just curiousity on my part so I thought I’d ask here.

@Gary ,
The way that such ATC replies are put together is internal to BMS programming. I’ve been able to do a lot with ATC programming regarding airbase names and callsigns and such, but changing how the programming does the concatenations for ATC responses is a lot more complicated than you might think. Such a change would have to be done by a BMS dev, and it isn’t likely a change like this will make the cut.

Thank you for the detailed reply. I really do appreciate people taking the time to answer.
I suspected such, given everything ATC is already so polished.
I’m sure I’m not the only one here but ATC adds SO much for me and my personal experience and enjoyment of BMS.
Does anyone know of any further improvements we might see with either U3 or 4.38?
Again, just curious.

Gary

Glad you enjoy the ATC , it has been years of hard work
No improvement scheduled (IIRC the dynamic ATC chat is already Included in U2 - I mean by that the fact that the busiest it is the shortest the instructions are ).
