Airbrake indicator sound mod
-
You know Contour HD?
When i’ll find some time i’ll try to prepare something.
Great! Thkx!
(Just a small precision, the “philosophy” at BMS is to reproduce what pilot actually hearing (with helmet)… not “simply” a ckpt sound capture… but of course, your vid will be precious!)
-
I have full faith on them and whatever they are working.
-
Hmm, I’ve been editing the volumes of the modem.ogg and the brakwind.ogg. But it seems that whatever I do, it screws up the nice balance the BMS guys figured out for us. Having a louder brakwind does increase awareness of the airbrake, but it kinda sounds unnatural, compared to the original volumes. Also lowering the modem sound even a bit makes it inaudible… not that I need to be reminded all the time, but it could just as well be off.
I use the ‘with earplugs’ defaults, and have to say I get enough feedback. Only the airco sound becomes a bit annoying in the long run.(a long rong being 8 hours of flying for me )
You know you can tune that down via your audio 2 Intercom switch from Darth Vader volume to very silent?

take care … it’s a sort of master headset volume … it will also dim the BETTY, ALARM, COMM’s, RWR etc …
More information about Intercom knob:
and
INTERCOM Knob The INTERCOM knob has a cw arrow pointing to
INC. Rotating the knob increases the volume of the
signals available to the intercom set.The intercom provides the following functions:
- Monitoring and volume control of voice communication between pilot and ground crew or between pilot and tanker boom operator, monitoring and volume control of AIM9 missile tone, TWS composite audio tone, and TWS missile launch tone.
- Monitoring of systems individually volume controlled from the audio control panels.
- Monitoring of fixed volume warning tones (LG and low speed warning tone, TWS missile launch tone, and IFF mode 4 audio monitor) and voice messages.

This post is deleted! -
^Then it’s a cool suicide option to tune it down.:)

ZELEGEND, where is the original download link? Is it missing from the original post? Thanks

I think these sound files were included in A.S.'s sound mod, which is nowadays part of the Falcon-Online Red Flag Korea theater. Here’s the sound mod as a separate package as released in this message on Falcon-Online forums:

Awesome!
Now I want a warning sound for an inbound heater, a sound when the speed is > 250 with the gear down, and a sound when my CCIP pipper is exactly over a target!
Would make this sim sooooo much more realistic……

Hehehehe nice party touch…
Comes up with install instructions, also!

u forgot the clark reverse speed beep sounds…

Like someone said earlier, you don’t have the seat of your pants sensation in a sim. Slide forward when breaks are out slide back as you retract and accelerate.
I use hammers sound mod and the air brake is sound distinct, but a slight deflection of the airbrake is frequently unnoticeable.
The sound replaced a sensation of accel and deccel that would be felt in real life.
Dee-Jay here’s a video demonstrating seat of your pants sensations;

Thank you for your link Midnabreu. (I love Rick! :))
But did you even flew fighter-jet strongly tightened in your ejection seat? … I did. And I do not remember felling a lot the airbrakes effects. (FYI, physiological sensation has to be ignore … otherwise, one day, you will be killed by “sensory illusions”… as much a practicable, refer and trust only your instruments)
What you are saying about sounds feedback is true. And this is why we have implemented the aerodynamic sounds of opened airbrakes (which you do not hear IRL) … but having a “bip” sound when airbrake are open has nothings to do with physiological feedback. It is just an easy tweak for ppl how are used to forget to check their airbrake’s positions
It happens also IRL, I remember a friend who had make a go around with his airbrakes extended … I can tell you the he felt anything weird except the speed increasing a little bit slower than usual, and understood his mistake when he saw the airbrakes open light in his panel! LOL … no bip IRL, just training and procedures mechanizing airbrakes usage, just like in the sim whatever you say about physiological feedback.

Wow. That is an interesting piece of info.
Flying a sim, you sometimes just forget the dangers of NOT having a “Reset” button in Real Life.pr0n

Where is the download link?

Where is the download link?
For the “Real-Life Reset Button”…?
God is currently working on that. He’ll release in 3-4 weeks.
