Mission Commander beta release

@Nuno:
Hi Falcas!
Latest version of MC shows up an option to choose from “Spain-Portugal” (the former name of POH theater folder) and Iberia (the new one already since POH 0.8.0 and 4.33), which didn’t happen in previous versions.
Could you check it out, please? (or could it be on my side only?)
Thank you
Hey,
Its the install that seems to be “off”
As the message tells you, the theater installed on your system is “Spain-Portugal”
You can also see this at the bottom of MC, there it also says: “Theater selected in Falcon…. Spain-Portugal”This means in your registry this is what the current theater is set to.
Take a look at the installer and other files what the Name is set to.Gr Falcas

That’s what’s confusing me. I ran a search on Windows registry and it doesn’t detect any registry related to “Spain-Portugal”, and the previous MC version didn’t show this…
Also, I found that, if I point to the Falcon BMS 4.34 install a second time, then MC will detect “Iberia” instead of “Spain-Portugal”.
Weird…
PS: I’m noticing that, when I enter campaign, everything seems normal. Then I save before exit, and when I try to load a saved game, none of the airbases show up on the selection screen, therefore I’m not able to enter a saved game.
But if I open the saved game .cam file with MC, everything is as it should be, including the campaign time of the save.
Could it be related with the described issue?
Cheers

Hi again, about the issue with campaigns it has to do with iberia.thr file and generally speaking with 128seg theaters. There is a way around. Open in MC your saved campaign and under campaign tab go to occupation map. Enter 0 instead of 58197 in the field “should be” then hit apply and save. Now check if the saved campaign loads in bms

Thanks Mystic,
Yes there are still plenty of issues with 128seg theaters. In BMS as well as MC.
Beside that they are just too largeGr Falcas

Unfortunately, it didn’t work
Still not able to load any file after saving…

Sorry if this has already been covered but, i cannot open any of the 4.34 campaigns without an error saying that unit data is corrupted or something….
EDIT I just ran it again to get the exact phrase but it now loads the campaign files without a hitch. -
Small visual issue (0.5.11.403), while trying to clone a flight, it shows a different package-number than the one used.
When I click “Move to PKG” with 1067 selected, it will end up correctly in 1027, though. -
Tell me please.
Should be engineering battalions and support battalions be allocated to special separate “engeneering” divisions . Or, it is enough to tie them to division number 0.? -

Tell me please.
Should be engineering battalions and support battalions be allocated to special separate “engeneering” divisions . Or, it is enough to tie them to division number 0.?Not all battalions need to be assigned to a Brigade or a Division.
In this case they act more “alone”Especially Engineer battalions work a lot better as stand alone and not being assigned to a brigade or division.
The reason is that they can be send somewhere to do repairs.Gr Falcas

… yes MC’s is whining , but , in my observing engineer battalion couldn’t care less is it part of brigade or division when it is called to repair objective, … so MC is just that …whining.
… anyway … FAAAALCAAAASSSS !!! what did you do to Naval Waypoints in last version… grrrr. they’re almost fubar.
If you load old scenario with old waypoints , until you touch them , all is ok … The moment when you edit them , they’re screwed.
-speed isn’t calculated, therefore time also . and that’s a BIG problem, for a ‘Turn-point’ , since they are all about time
-you can’t preset speed of ships, its broken > shows 999kts , but that could be because of time -mis-calculation
-why just dont DRAW the speed of the unit (taskforce) out of DB ? (and give an option to be preset later with the steerpoint)
-formations are NOT done right , they disappear after editing , since they are AERIAL formations , NOT NAVAL ones , as they should be
-guess you’ve just dirty copied air-waypoints to naval ones , but , it seems that it wont work just like that… needs some love… WHEN YOU CAN THANKS
Cheers
editL … oh, one more thing, there were errors with taskforces after converting 4.33camp and working on it with MC, when testing manual TASMO missions , almost any squadron returned error that it doesn’t have required “ASuw” WEAPONS (none) … which didn’t have any sense ,
…and ATC auto tasmo misions were created just fine , but much less in numbers, … to cut story short, … usual suspects were the “Taskforces” (after pain of finding out) …after moving carrier planes to shore airbases and deleting any leftover taskforce unit , … then adding new ones , … everything works.
Something is fishy enough. , or the convert from 4.33 , or the Taskforce manipulation in MC … sorry couldn’t pinpoint the real issue … mono was too silent , … not even ctd … just didn’t work.PLEASE , do recheck taskforces , they work in essence , placing the ship and leaving alone works out of the box, but touching too much makes problems

Sure you will observe this. But that does not mean the engineer battalions will actually arrive at there destination and stay there long enough to finish the job. As on brigade level they can be redirected to a different task.
You just get the best results when they are as a stand alone battalion.… anyway … FAAAALCAAAASSSS !!! what did you do to Naval Waypoints in last version… grrrr. they’re almost fubar.
Well, you probably know how much has changed… nothing
You can’t take the speed from the DB as it all depends on the timing.
As you know the waypoints for taskforces are the same as for any other unit, like flights. (thats just how the code works)
So if you set the timing “wrong” you get speeds which are not in range. In the BMS UI you are not able to see these values as they are only shown for flights. However they are the same for Battalions and Taskforces.
Sure there might be a glitch in the calculations for the Taskforces, need to check.About the conversion… Depends on how you did the conversion. Meaning what did you answer to the questions to replace A with new A or B. And what is different between the 2 databases, like weapons and also loadouts.
Don’t forget, the conversion is to uplift the mission to the latest files version and match each unit to a existing unit in the new database.
This will make sure the mission is usable in the new BMS version.
In some cases everything will work as it should right away, but for some cases you need to do a couple of fixes. Like you have seen yourselfGr Falcas

Hi Falcas,
Thanks for your great job on all of these tools!
Question about converting 433 to 4.34 .tac files.
On the right screen (Translate Objectives), why is the title line indicate "Old (AF, BMS 4.32) on the left column and “Current BMS 4.33” on the right column.I follow the Step #1 to Step#5, so I have selected BMS 4.33 theater Korea KTO with the “Select earlier Falcon Version” button and “Output” is set to “C:\Falcon BMS 4.34”, with theater “Korea”.
The title in the “Translate Objectives” screen should not be "Old (BMS 4.33) on the left column and BMS 4.34 on the right column ?
Did I missed something ?
BTW, My MC version IS 0.5.11.403. Ok for BMS 4.34, right? Thanks for your help!

Falcas this happens when trying to move heli sqn to carrier, when moving to airbase then is ok.
seems …somehow sqn loose “link” to a carrier, you know where you can select a base ship in TF for a heli sqn , so this pull-down menu is grayed out…

Good Day, All,
I am trying to add a F-35 squadron to my carriers in Korea and Balkans. When I go to “add squadron” the f-35 is not on the drop down list, though pretty much everything else is. So,how do I get it on the list?
Thx, Joe -

Correct. F35 is part of some other campaign, think is NTO , or EUROPE , not sure really … but something is incompatible with 4.34 , or they fixed it already.
So, would need to import F35 model to both databases first., but is worth the work , dunno ?

Hey,
For at least 80% of the users of MC, you really don’t need a manual. The buttons and functions do what is written on it.
With most of the advanced features come a little explanation if the form of a question before you continue.Only when you are building a theater from scratch, it would be handy to have a good background knowledge.
But that means explaining how the BMS database is build up, all the pointers and links in the code.
That manual will be much thicker than the manual which comes with BMSMake a backup of the files you are working on (just in case) and than don’t be afraid to try and play with the features.
So the short version of a manual…
- Start the MC and open the mission you want to edit (File, Open)
- Enjoy editing what you want.
- Save the mission.
Gr Falcas
In order to learn how to make TE, I created a TE following the guidance in BMS Manual, p136. Got it working and ran it several times, but always got shot down. Then one day, one of the flights would not take off; readout said “aborted your flight has been cancelled”. Hmmm. Why was that? Tried re-editing the flight but no go. Had to do something so I turned to MC which I never used, just browsed it to see what’s in it. Started comparing aborted flight with the others. Noticed there was an ADVANCED button for the flights. The aborted flight had the “broken” box checked and the others did not. So I unchecked the “broken” box, saved everything. Yea! Flight can now take off.
So–-why did the flight become unable to take off? And what is the “broken” box all about?
Thanks, Falcas, for MC.
