@SoBad
As someone who worked with and trained soldiers on military simulators (not AF but that doesn’t matter for the fact).
We had as well promotional videos of the simulator manufacturer, by no way was anything shown on displays even close to what it would in real use. They had to create static “fake” pictures to be displayed on for example a BMS (BattlefieldManagementSystem) in oder to be allowed to publish their promotion video.

RE: are there any open track users?
@kata_sim
I think 90° input translating to 90° output is way to much this is how I have setup mine.
you dont want to have your head to move 45° up and 45° down physically (cant’t you even see your screen while doing so?)
the 20 to 180% is my personal preference and also depends on everyones setup like distance to the camera, used input device and so on but might give you a starting point
I personally prefer to have a assymetric setup for pitch so that I have to move may head way less to look down to the cockpit but more if I look up along the canopy.
Another thing I recommend on all three pitch roll yaw to have a slight deadzone, so it kinda snaps if you are looking straight and dosn’t jitter if you dont have your head perfectly still.
You can adjust the curves while the tracker is running and see the red dot moving along the curve helps to fine adjust

RE: Layout template for Logitech Extreme 3D Pro
@MarcAurel
Ok let’s analyse step by step.- You reinstalled BMS
- Plugged in the Extreme 3d pro
- Started the BMS Launcher
After those steps do you have a new Setup.v100.Extreme 3D pro … xml file generated ?
which should not have any assignment yetI would as a next step check and just assign on axis and one button through the Launcher Axisassing and Keymapping to the Joystick
Your Extreme 3d pro should appear in the list as a column
let us know if that works and we can go on with further steps. -
RE: Weapon Delivery Planner released

I believe the code in the “CmpFile.cs” file is the one I need to analyze more precisely.However, I don’t know if the format of a .cam file and that of a .tac file uses the same structure, but I believe that logically it would be the case, so I will check all that.
I already had all these lightning libraries mainly for the operation of MFDE.
So thank you for the info, I’ll take the time to look at “F4Utils” in more detail. Hours of reading!!!
And as you mention, it will be wiser to wait for the release of 4.38 to see if the formats of these files will actually be modified before undertaking large-scale projects (Lol).Once again, thanks for pointing me in the right direction, it’s much appreciated.
No the CmpFile is not the starting point, as a cmp file is just one of the embedded files in a cam file.
The starting point to extract the contents of a tac or cam file is the F4CampaignFileBundleReader.
Think of a cam or tac file like a zip archive. it contains a number of othter files some of them are just binary files some of them are additionally compressed with lzss (a managed lzss is as well part of F4Utils).
An example of the content files would be the above mentioned cmp file that structure is indeed the campfile, another would for example be a .uni file which hold unit information and need to be decoded with aditional queries agains the BMS DB of the theater in order to get useful contents -
RE: Weapon Delivery Planner released
@101-Spyder not a c++ but a c# structure and as library. I’m currently testing if it still works on all embedded files
https://github.com/lightningviper/lightningstools/tree/master/src/F4Utils/CampaignAnother one that used to read cam files
https://github.com/candera/vmtBut I have also been told that cam file might get changed to a complete different format in the future

RE: Editing campaign mission flight path
@CaptCanada said in Editing campaign mission flight path:
Hi all
Just wondering if you guys edit the default campaign mission flight path routes in order to avoid SAMs, AAA, etc?
I ask as one recent mission had me flight in the path of some SA2s SA3 and some AAA. Can I change the route in order to avoid these threats, as long as I keep the TOS times as close as possible?
Thanks
I have rarely ever flown the flightpath the ATO created. Always modificated or better to say recreated it to my planning. To keep track of TOS is if your flight is part of a package and you have to coodinate. Doesn’t make much sense to change the flightplan of an OCA that has a SWEEP or CAP with it to arrive earlier than the rest of the package.

@Vikingo11 which browser you are using on your apple devices?
-
RE: Layout template for Logitech Extreme 3D Pro
@MarcAurel don’t do anything in the old BMS internal setup.
Maybe just some background of how AL works.
in the xml file all related setting for
a) axis
b) DX buttons settings
saved (those that are set within the axismapping and keymapping of the Launcher)
once you hit the Launch button on the Launcher AL checks for the currently connected devices and writes mainly the BMS Auto.key file axismapping.dat . It will be generated every time you hit the launch button so don’t make any changes in the screens you porsted the screenshot, they will be lost on next start of the game.If the xml Setup.v100.Extreme 3D pro …xml is present open the axismapping and keymapping screens of the in the Launcher and the Launcher should read all the settings stored in the xml file

RE: are there any open track users?
@kata_sim said in are there any open track users?:
@oakdesign
i’ve just discovered this game recently
i just need the information on how i could use opentrack in order to get head tracking to work with bms cause i’m having trouble with pitch (looking up and down)…So you already have a working setup (again question which input method you are using) but need help in mapping curves for pitch to game output?
Maybe post some screenshots of your mapping curves -
RE: are there any open track users?
@kata_sim you stated that you trouble setting up the mapping. The question in order to give you advice is again how is your setup.
So using your laptops integrated camera is only half of the information needed to help you further if/how your intened setup will work with BMS.
So apart from using your integrated camera (already some not the best option as these webcams are capped mostly at 30 fps) what is your intended input?- a face tracking app such as smoothtrack or aitrack
- a physical lightning device like a cap or tracker, active lights or infrared
etc. Just provide those and you might get meaningful answers.
Or do you need the information as what I asked above, how you could use opentrack in order to get headtracking to work with bms

RE: Relation of movie numbers and file names for TRIgger events
@Atze-0 correct. That’s just how resource files like irc and rsc works, with the main difference that irc are basically textfiles human readable for some stuff like images there might be a third file “rsc” that hold the decoded images as binary data. In order to view those you need a resource file reader
-
RE: Relation of movie numbers and file names for TRIgger events
@Atze-0 pretty sure it’s defined in data/art/main/Movies.id and Movies.rsc files
in Movies.id you’ll find the numvers used in tri file and in rs is the “real” name both linked by the identifier used in id and rsc file

RE: Smoothtarck app
@Yan2411 smoothtrack is basically just an input interface to opentrack running on the PC and interacting with BMS.
So a) opentrack works with BMS.
b) as will all phone/webcam facetrack apps such as smoothtrack, AITrack it depends on a few factors such as quality of you camers, lightning etc. As most phne cams are capped at a 30fps framerate don’t expect the result with such a setup to as smooth like with dedicated IR based solution with 60 or 120Hz cameras
But as a base yes the app should work with BMSIf you don’t want to spent the 10$ for the smoothrack app you still can try AITrack https://github.com/AIRLegend/aitrack first as it opensource and free and does the same in the end

RE: are there any open track users?
@kata_sim what your input device / camera. You just can’t take anotherones settings. To many factors such as camera position, tracker geometry.
Maybe explain your issue a bit further in order to be able to direct you in the right direction.the first and essential step is to input the proper dimension of your tracker and do the calibration after that in order to get proper readings and translation

RE: Viper TQS: Button 18 actually in the wrong place
@Amadeus75 So way not just switch BMS to use analog axis and set the Idle Cutoff to the correct Position and just don’t use the DX18

Hello, I have a friend who wants to play bms. is it possible to fly a campaign with my friend? if so how do i do it?
Just ensure that the one that is hosting the session is not behind a CGNAT (carrier grade NAT) and is able to port forward on his router.
Other than that you can fly together on community servers like Falcon Lounge or Veterans Gaming or can participate in community events like Friday, Saturday, Monday events at UOAF -
RE: Aircraft not removed from inventory after being shot down
@Atze-0 said in Aircraft not removed from inventory after being shot down:
I have seen this in several campaigns, too. But only with intercept flights (airbase 100% with 0 Su-27 scrambles 6 Su-27).
I thought, the fog of war has been improved and you cannot absolutely trust the numbers in OOB anymore (so as you cannot find a not visible battallion with the Find button anymore). So you see their resupplies a bit later or so.But this doesn’t seem to be the case here.
I’m not taking about FOW as we have a dedicated team to drive our up to 40 players MP events, and do a lot of the frag adjustments in MC. So if the available AC in the save file is 0 that should mean the SQN should be not operational anymore. Need to talk to the others in our fragteam but I think we tried multiple things to avoid this behavior
-
RE: Aircraft not removed from inventory after being shot down
@redman386
we are experiencing the same behaviour in our ongoing LBalk+ MP campaing at UOAF, from multiple FRY airbases, SQN with 0 AC spawing flight as they would be at full strength. Just in our events 2 weeks ago a sqn with 0 AC planned 6 2ship QRA flights and the flights have been spawned and taken of in 3d once own package came close to the given AB. After I deleted those QRA flight manually with MC they at least didn’t take of in 3d. But new QRA flight had been created by campaing engine again.
Would need to look into the frageged save if we just deleted the flight or even set the whole SQN to human controlled to avoid those “ghost” flights -
