Irritating

isn’t it strange your the one failing yet others are not?? and by your words a crappy joystick you found in the garage, go fly your real F16 sim with same joystick for a best comparison… then come back to us if successful with test and tell us it is wrong

Just going to hijack this thread here and ask why I’m automatically put in a refueling plane on the AAR training mission- how can I fly a fighter instead and what obvious thing am I missing here?
Need to try AAR ASAP so I can weigh in on this conversation about how hard it is to do something really hard. Thanks!

It’s not hard with practice - and if you have TS and don’t mind flying multiplayer, I can teach you. If you want to do it RL, we would do a full ramp, ground ops, intercept the tanker, and the proceed to RL tanker ops. I’ve done this with RL fighter jocks and viper drivers, so if interested hit me up.

You need to select the F-16 flight on the left instead of the refuelling flight. Or you can go into the splash screen on loadup - select configuration then expand modifications and tick Fly F-16s only and apply.

You know, I am just going to put out there, since I just noticed this thread and am not involved, that this BMS player may have had situations where there is a discontinuity in the process of AAR and he got into a “no mans land” zone where the AAR tanker is not expecting to refuel, might even be expecting a wingman to refuel instead of him, he forgot to re-call “stabilized and ready”, he forgot to call “done refueling”, or some other discontinuity provoking situation like that.
I write this in case any BMS player may need the info.
You may have to call AAR more than 1 time.
If the Tanker is flying at 270 knots, he is not expecting you to “pre-contact position”.
If the Tanker is flying at approximately ~300 KIAS, he is expecting someone in “pre-contact position”. Might be someone other than you. Or he may need you to position correctly on “pre-contact” and call “stabilized and ready”.
Who knows. Definitely experience will show you there are things done while AAR that may “break” the correct procedure, and leave you “hanging”.
I have done hundreds of AAR, including at night without NVG, (night AAR really shows the player how important a correct “baseline intercept” maneuver is important; its all great when you can perfectly spot the tanker at 5nm; at night if you respect the radiation hazard shutting down of radar when closing in and dont have a TGP, its a different reality) and there was 1 time where something got “broken” in assigning the wingman to refuel, and when I requested AAR, the tanker would only refuel the wingman and not me.
Only happened once.

Having said that, this is just a game its not a simulator in realistic terms. Simulators are what big airlines and armed forces have, cost a lot of money, and take a team of people to make 1 “simulator flight” work properly. BMS playing is playing a pc game. That goes without saying.

Thanks - that’d be great. I’ll PM you.

Hi Again

Not the point

The tanker refuses to connect despite good positioning
-
An old joystick I dug out of the garage.
1 - Not again, but for the first time since you didn’t cared about being polite on you very first post.
2 - Yes the point sir since you say “You guys need to look at your code” … first , YOU have to prove that something is wrong. Then … we’ll look at the code if we have time and wish. But most important.
3 - Define and show what good positioning is for you.
4 - “An old joystick I dug out of the garage” … maybe that is one of your issue. What about its precision?
…
On my side, no problem with AAR on 4.34.2

I believe that it’s not very right to come to the forum and blame anyone or or something just because you didn’t understand something and you are doing it wrong.
I don’t know the language, I use Google translator, but for many years I use Falcon. Take your time to make the whole world guilty just because something is not working out for you. -

I have done this on both ends in sims and legit sims not at home. The tanker doesn’t do what it is suppose to. This has been attempted multiple times and nada.
Here is a good tutorial for you , hope this helps

Obviously, the guy is behind somewhere… . Just pure frustration output. Yes its bad manners. Its not a great initial contact with a community, BUT you guys dont have to jump in all 100 of you in a tjo tjo train beating on it. Abit childish of you infact and also lowering the standards to hes lvl abit. As in - Dont argue with a …
Cheers all!

Ok, enough.
Not that the OP was particularly helpful or well-mannered, but sarcasm and trollish answers are not much better.
If OP wants to elaborate or provide more information, he can do so in a new thread.
