4.35 U1 rewrites your RTTClient.ini settings.

Backing up of your config folder (before an update) is always a good idea. But also know, there’s a very nice program to help you position your RTT displays by AlphaFox:

I got my coordinates OK for RTTClient64.exe. see picture
But in game I get 2 black boxes. Any reasons why?
Edit:
It’s OK now. I forgot to reset “falcon bms.cfg” line, set g_bExportRTTTextures, from 0 to 1. -
I have found that the old numbers for my MFD extraction work with RTT. I typed them into the RTTClient.ini file when I installed 4.35, and again today when I installed 4.35 U1.
In other words, the old X, Y, and width numbers for the MFDs, back before 4.35 and RTT. This was using the display extraction in the sim, in 4.34 and 4.33.
I found pictures I’d taken of the old Display Extraction setup windows, when I first set up my TM MFD frames on some 8" monitors. Pics are here:

Be advised, keep a copy of your coordinates.
Remember also the RTTClient.ini is stored in Tools/RTTRemote directory, backing up Config folder won’t save you in this instance.

LOL… Too late but thanks. Got it sorted after an quick reread of the manual.

Is there any way to close the RTT windows from the taskbar instead of the system tray?
-
RTT doesn’t have to be run from the BMS folder. It can be run from another folder outside of BMS so that the updates don’t mess up the coordinates in the ini file.

Correct! …provided that you remember to update that separate directory when there are new versions of the RTTClient and RTTServer binaries that you need to use with an updated game code.

A simple solution, create an archive kept in the folder. It will not be changed in future updates.

Just wondering: do you need to start RTTremote for the config to be overwritten or does a simple BMS launch suffice? I might get lucky (I hope) because I only tried BMS U1 now in a quick “moving mud” session, not using my full-blown setup with display extraction etc.
Cheers, Uwe

Uwe - one word for you… Helios.

Thanks Icer, I’m pretty happy with YAME64 and RTT at the moment
All the best, Uwe

Starting RTTremote does not override config settings it only reads from cnfig settings. But installing U1 overrides config settings
During installation of U1 all RTT files get overwritten and 2 new are added

I get it, I find YAME a bit easier to work with and the Helios MFDs seems to have a frame rate issue (for me) compared to RTT (or YAME in 4.34) but its nice to have one solution to use for everything. The fact(?) that YAME can’t display an overlay on the 3D screen (CPD moving Map from fictional Blk 60) put me over the edge. I may go back to RTT for the MFDs though!
Edit, for fun I just set MFDs in Helios to “hidden” and ran the RTTClient along with Helios gauges and the MFDs FR are perfect so I just may keep it this way!

U1 also replaces the BMS_Full keyfile as I found a few custom keys I added were gone. Back to RTT, any reason the RTTClient.ini settings under “Screen Coordinates” section is missing a H/W line for one of the MFDs (forget which one)?
I added them in, looks like this now, works perfectly-
MFDLEFT_X =2300
MFDLEFT_Y =1440
MFDLEFT_W =540
MFDLEFT_H =530
MFDRIGHT_X =4410
MFDRIGHT_Y =1440
MFDRIGHT_W =540
MFDRIGHT_H =530 -

Heads up, U3 does overwrite it as well.
