4.37 - a few VR requests

@Nickos86 yeah i get the jhmcs thing too, there is a .ini hack but i’ve forgotten what it was. The clouds rotate like they do in 2d, i think its to do with the fact they are sprites and not really 3d. DCS was the same until the recent cloud update.

B. Not possible… Those are 2D clouds… They will rotate…

maybe making them rotate abit slower would make the drill
or motivating JP to enhance that area -
@vAiCon good luck with that!
-
set g_nCloudRotatingMethod 1 // "face camera position" (as opp. to "camera direction")
I honestly can’t stand the default… even with normal head-tracking, or mouselook.

Yep, it’s a common issue across platforms. Does DCS’s still rotate or is that what their big performance hit weather update fix?

where do I find this line?

You can add it to
Falcon BMS 4.37\User\Config\Falcon BMS User.cfg
-
Note the clouds will still rotate with this setting, just not as comically when turning your head quickly.
Mostly you’ll see them visibly rotate as you fly close by/through them, along the sides/top of your canopy. It’s more noticeable, the wider your fov … but I fly fov=100 and I rarely notice it.

@mastersetter I saw you can change in the config file the JHMCS to be projected to the right/left eye. If you could check what hack need to be done for both - that would be super helpful!

AFAIK, real HMCS displays on one eye only as well. So, not both.

An option to adjust the world scale. It is unplayable for me as everything looks very tiny.
This is pretty much like that for my eyes for every VR titles but luckily most of them can be adjusted.
For some games it can be done in Steam VR under Per application video settings, but for Falcon BMS those options are not available.
-
@Metzger ensure you have the checkbox for smart-scaling enabled.
check for that both in the New Launcher, but also in-game Setup screen … I’ve seen it not persist, for some reason.
pro-tip: you can also add a line
set g_fSmartScalingThreshold 2.5 //nautical miles from your own POV when scaling will start to kick in
to your
Falcon BMS User.cfg
file … so it doesn’t warp things that are close to you, but helps visibility for bogeys beyond 2.5 nm -
can try to have a big of structure here?
This start to look like a melting pot of parametrs thrown in
-
@airtex2019 no no, not objects in distant scaling. VR scaling. Like cockpit in VR looks tiny, like a toy plane.

Yes, well-described. Actually I even have this feeling when watching outside at times, especially closer to the ground.

Please add the option to render in both eyes. Real or not it gives a lot of ppl a headache.

I would like to see left and right click as a binding option for the joystick without external tools. This could allow us to switch buttons with taking the hand of the controls.

BMS is a simulator and the HMCS is a physical device attached to the helmet. “Helmet Mounted Cueing System” … the helmet mount part is literal. Makes more sense that this can be changed between flights, but not during. I believe their goal is to simply simulate this properly, like most things in BMS, as it is in real life.

@Metzger Interestingly a lot of folks are saying this. In my experience (Quest 2 VR headset) the F-16 cockpit, if ANYTHING looks a little to BIG, but is not bad. By contrast I jumped in a Harrier and it was HUGE.
(Smart Scaling on in BMS Setup screen, and everything else pretty much default).
