OMFG!!!
Yes, the days of fuzzy tiles are almost behind us!

This is all so great and very exciting. Just need to get on with the slow study /practice routine to actually learn the sim

@arkady86 I upgraded to 3060 Ti just couple months ago… it is nicer than I expected. flying 4k at 60hz, it doesn’t stress the gpu enough for it to reach max clock speed – unless foul weather or a lot of nearby action – the cooling fans don’t even kick on, immediately. (4.38 will probably change that!)

Im ready for anything in VR. Bought 4090 and it is fantastic. Waiting for BMS update patiently.
-
@Tiger-0 - ditto. I’d rather have greater adherence to RW performance/operation over eye-candy.

It is always a trade-off between game performance and graphical quality. This is exactly the reason why I use BMS for years: for me, it is the best simulator I have ever played with. No simulator goes above BMS. I am using a laptop computer and I run at 30~40 fps with the game settings at their maximum.

@Raiden-0 are those 3d buildings in the second screenshot?

No, 3D buildings autogen do not exist (yet) for BMS, including in Dev version. That is a topic that will require some work and planning, still not started and probably the initial 4.38 version will come without it.

@I-Hawk
Thanks for replying. Hope you succeed with this task. It will be a much welcomed addition -
Hi
X-plane, BMS, same battle?
Equivalent discussions took place when MSFS2020 and then X-plane 12 were released.
What are the priorities? graphics or flight models/systems management.
I fly with X-plane 12 and Falcon BMS because I like it when a simulator prioritizes flight and onboard systems.I’d welcome any environmental improvements that would make the mission even more realistic and complex (relief, vegetation, buildings, weather effects and visuals, etc.).
On the other hand, is it necessary to improve the overall terrain to the detriment of performance?
Does the TTBA pilot need to know if the wheat is ready to be harvested? -

Very much so if he is flying a crop-duster.
-
@djetdail Yes but the great thing about this hobby is that enjoying one does not mean you cannot enjoy the other. I fly BMS when I want to pretend I’m a fighter pilot and be immersed in a combat or training environment. I fly DCS when I want to pretend I’ve stolen a fighter aircraft or I want some BRRRRRRTTTTT!!! action or if I feel the need… the need for speed and want to do some carrier traps.
Same thing for civilian flight sims. If I want to pretend to be an actual pilot, it’s XP11 or XP12. If I want to sight-see, then it’s MSFS 2020.

To be fair, I would really appreciate some grass/foilage in the immediate airport environment. Not a deal breaker though.

I’ve only really dabbled in BMS for a few years now and recently installed 4.37 (I think my last previous install was 4.33). I’ve got a fairly modest lappy (i7, 16gb ram, 2gb gfx) but I was amazed at the improvement in graphic quality. Even tweaking some of the settings downwards for improved framerate, the terrain seems way better than a few versions ago (maybe my ageing memory is playing tricks on me?) I suspect 4.38 will be a stretch too far though, and I’m not about to drop 2+ grand on new hardware. I’ll be more than satisfied with this version… as others have said, I don’t play this magnificent game for the eye-candy.
One could draw comparisons between BMS and Dwarf Fortress, in that they are projects of selfless passion, spanning years of work, and with developers having no interest in financial success. When DF released recently on Steam, I can honestly say I’ve never taken greater pleasure in dropping a few quid on a game. I kind of see it as my ‘thank you’ to the two brothers who have made it their life’s work. You can still play it for free, but everyone has bills to pay (in the case of the Adams brothers, large medical bills) so I don’t grudge them a single penny. Similarly, I would have no problem shelling out for BMS, should it ever go that way, knowing that the developers would continue to pour their heart and soul into it. Not many other developers/ publishers one could say that about…
