News from the frontline, 4.37.3 delayed (and explained)

@airtex2019 as far as I know we did not work on the E FM. Maybe Im wrong, @TOPOLO is the person to ask about FM.
Regarding avionics, the E uses f16 avionics, no work done there.

@Seifer @tiag Reverse question – will it be possible to fly the F-15E with Viper avionics/callbacks but new improved AFM? (Even default-viper cockpit ok, if necessary. Anything better than this…)
“This” used to model the blind AG radar angle around 0° azimuth. Not that bad.
EDIT: more exactly, it is the HRM feature that was limited in certain areas, including this one. Page 94.

All I can say is: exciting things are coming with next update (if you are a F15 wannabe pilot )
And if you aren’t a F15 wannabe pilot (myself and many others included), you can’t help but wonder if .3 would have otherwise been released by now.
-
@SoBad meh, so what? Do you have major show stopper bugs personally going on with U2? This is why BMS used to be radio silent about updates. When it’s done, it’s done. Their prerogative if they feel that in order for U3 to be ready it must include F-15C, which I haven’t dived into yet but plan to with U3. Odds are the F-15C and the rest of 4.37 issues get nothing further addressed other than show stopping bugs because after this it’s full steam ahead on 4.38 which has been stated is not going to come out until probably middle of next year. So get the F-15C stuff in now that it’s close and shut the books on 4.37.

I think that you are exactly right, both 1) that it’s their prerogative and 2) that they feel it must include substantial progress on the F15 implementation.
I’ve made several posts before that make it clear I think, in line with the original Falcon concept, that the focus should be on the F16 over anything else, and I make no apologies for that. Hence my feelings about the .3 release delay. I expect pushback from those (including some of the devs) who feel differently. So be it.

And according to you , what is missing to the f16 that we could implement (not link16)?
-
@SoBad bottom line is that it doesn’t matter what you (or I or anyone else) think should be the priority. The dev team do it because they want to and they work on whatever they decide, for our benefit. So my view is always, “just be grateful for what we have now and look forward to whatever is coming”.

@Seifer F-15E (S, K…) Flight model is unchanged in 4.37.3, only F-15A,B,C and D were reworked
-
@Mav-jp Side-slip indicator and cage/uncage of backup ADI ? And obligatory mention of A model avionics /me run and hides.
Just kiddin, exactly what rubbra said. Also IMHO Viper in BMS is already in great shape at least for normal flight conditions. If there was something I could wish for are more emergencies + pilot induced faults (TGP overspeed/over-g’id, electrics fails, non-fatal engine faults: reduced thrust, AB fail, sensors degradation etc … ) .
Maybe some more differences between older and newer blocks capabilities: like Lantrin vs Sniper TGP , lack of GPS on early models … -
Just keep on keeping on, team! Thanks for the excellent work.

…All those fails are already coded and can be triggered by damages

Hello fellow falconeers! I have what I hope is the last news from my side in this .3 release cycle. Ramp start was finished and with that we enter feature freeze mode. I already packed the first release candidate, unfortunately a couple of minor bugs showed up, so this is not the final one. But they are already fixed or to be fixed.
We are close. Hopefully in a week or two we have the final candidate after rounds of tests. This is natural, happened in all release cycles.
With that, I’d like to clarify some points about this release. The first one is that the f15 is fully playable, a joy to play. But it is far from finished. There are missing radar modes, AG is not there, there are a few things that are still from the viper and the list goes on. This is ok, we know it and we will improve from there. Perfection takes infinite time, something we don’t have. But all we have done was done with a lot of reasearch, passion and dedication. My hats off to the whole team who worked on those.
The second point is that one of the major goals of this release was to move towards 4.38. And we achieved that. Bml model is fully operational, in fact the f15 pit wouldn’t be possible without it. We also introduced better environment lighting, afterburner with PS effects and ported and fixed some campaign code that was in 38 only. So this step is very significant and important to us. We also improved VR performance with shadows and enabled post processing HDR in VR for those who can afford it. VR changes were also part of the plans.
The third point is about the delays. I have already explained most, but in a nutshell, personal problems plus more complexity than expected delayed this release. This is on me, I planned the schedule, I failed there. The only thing I can do now is try to improve for next one, which we will talk more about after release.
I will use this remaining time in release candidates to work with the doc team to improve what we have pending. And support the minor fixes yet to come. Again, I hope this is the last you hear from me in this cycle and my thanks for all who contributed from the community: every kind and constructive word counts.

@Seifer There is no failure here. Those of us that have been waiting around for 20 years are as excited as kids in a candy store. Stay on target, Jedi.
-
@Seifer
That’s awesome news Seifer. No need to feel guilty, 3 month slip of release date in such circumstances is like nothing. I’d bet many dev teams would be glad if they were doing as good as you guys.
BTW is seems my race to build BMS capable rig before U3 release gonna be exciting till the very end. I’m placing some orders next weekend … -
Yep seems like it’s only been 3-4 Falcon-weeks… pretty sure it’s still on track for “Falcon September”.
-
No need to be sorry about anything seifer. RL always have the highest priority, and most people in here understand that this is done in your spare time and we get the benefit of the work made by you and the rest of the DEV team for free. The entire team have my upmost respect for the continues updates and finetuning you are able to add.
-
Hear hear!!
-
@Seifer First of all, wish that you and your loved ones are well, and that those personal problems are resolved and it is nothing serious.
Also thank you for your work and that of all the devs on this project, the F16 has been in development for decades, it is impossible for the F15 to be finished in this record time. There is no need to apologize for some perfectly logical delays.
Thanks for everything guys.

No problem, Mate, you’ll provide some sneak peek 4.37.3 screenshot of F-15 pit and we are square
