After 25 years, this sim still impresses

@Icer, I totally agree, pretty much the same have been playing flight sims for around the same length of time came back to BMS recently and have been blown away by the sheer depth of this sim and the work the devs have put in.
I do play DCS too am guilty of that yes it’s graphically impressive and there are aircraft in it I love flying but it hasn’t the depth of BMS the graphical differences I can live with BMS still has great graphics and for someone who’s first flight sim had wire frame graphics I don’t care it’s what’s underneath that counts! -
My first exposure with Falcon was on my Atari ST around 1988. I’ve been a fan ever since. Falcon and I have a long history together and I feel very fortunate that my loyalty has paid off.
Like others I too have DCS. I use it now and then to give my motion platform a workout. It has 6DOF and DCS has some really good telemetry allowing for the feeling of acceleration, deceleration, banking, etc… It’s a crying shame that BMS only has pitch and roll. Since it’s all VR for me now, that’ll have to do. But it’s not so bad with just 2DOF.
As most netkidz would say; “fALc0n rUElz!”

It’s a matter of a few minutes to code in share Mem’all speeds and accels on 3 axis

Head/cockpit vibration during gun bursts.

I don’t mean to sound rude, but do you mean for the DEV’s to do that or for customers to do that? I’m looking at Sim Racing Studio (which I use for the motion platform) and see the 3 axis Pitch, Roll and Vert G Heave. I have no idea what Vert G Heave is being used for. Is that what you mean for the 3 axis?

I agree with the first post. And I hope the Devs working on BMS blend seamlessly with Microprose and get prrperly compensated for their dedication. From my side, i’ll keep coming here for my Viper fix. As i fly the other major sims out there that cater for my mood swings.

We work with them, we don’t work for them

@Mav-jp I agree, shared memory provides a super handy way to compute/obtain basically anything one would need. I did a project in the past which was indeed computing several aux parameters, check private void ComputeUVW_dot(); it has an example of that.
Btw the project has been further developed by @Fullnegi and @Diabolo, they did a great work and added a lot of cool details!

For me it’s the many, many little things. For example, your AI wingie goes into formation to port, but when landing on a carrier he/she “knows” to tuck in on the right.
-
I’m just coming back after a long, long break. Last time I flew was pre BMS, 1.08. It’s amazing the changes in the sim over the years but it still feels like meeting up with an old friend.
-
Oh wow, that IS a long time… back in the SuperPack days!
Yes, she’s a whole new beastie now!
-
@Grumble Yeah, I even did some beta testing with SleepDoc bac in the day. Somewhere on the 1.08 credits you’ll find my name. I am really enjoying the changes and additions to Falcon. I started my first campaign yesterday and I really enjoyed the atmosphere.
