Runway Textures
-
yeap paint cracks was a test… and an artist call…
as u can see I don’t say this is final… so don’t worry.although I have to say that on the yellow lines - markings they look way natural… Right?
The side ways of the runways that r black is new unused asphalt this is how it is now though not that black as the stock textures are hmmm… Those can also become brighter like dark grey and not blackish… but I want them as they cover pretty well my not so good cracks on this area and they blend more natural…
here is an example:
Also here for Seoul AB:

TWhat are the black parts to the side. Never saw them before on runways.
It is “typical” to North American runways.
-
RAF airfields have black edges to runways that is mainly used for rainwater drainage. Some have actual metal drainage holes with metal cover grates.
Also I have seen ‘friction coarse’ surfaces with thin grooves running across the whole width of the runway although I dont think this would be necessary for F4 purposes! -
hmmm nice idea UKRaider…

Yes, you can see those grooves here on O’Hare’s new runway:

They are going to mess up my shiney tires…
-
I have seen those but I will leave it last and see what I can do … they are too slim for the resolution to fit in and display correctly…
-
I wouldn’t bother with the friction coarse too much. Two things that would come with it - like the Moiré pattern. The second thing would be to wish good luck setting the anisotrope filter right :|.
By the way - do we have any real pictures of the Taxiways/Runways of the Korean Bases?
-
There are these famous ones from 2012 at Kunsan,
2011,
-
Thats the stuff. There appears to be potential FOD on the runway though……
-
WIP Update… Some errors u see r already corrected but feel free spot maybe I missed something.
-
Overall, fantastic!! Only thing I noticed is that the tire marks seem a bit sharp up close, maybe you could smear them out a bit? I get I wheel brake lock feeling, sort of, up close.
What a feeling in speed sensation!! Awesome!!
Well, it’s good enough for me, d/l link please

Arty IMHO this is PERFECT!!
Just remove the bold marks taxiway textures and use only the soft one, for me this is simply perfect as is. The runway looks very real
-
BRAVO!!! I think we can call it the “Block 52+” version of runway tiles!!!
-
Arty for RNWY President! :8:
-
s**t is a work of art
-
 Korbi… I didn’t even made my presidential speech yet…
So here we go:
I Will RunWay you…
I Will TaxiWay you…
I Will not HoldShort you…@Fenrir well they r not sharp at all (compared to the initial in which even the tire slots are clear) what is missing are more “grunge” marks that will cover the whole area and will blend more naturally but the damn thing got my whole morning to align 3 entrances and to fade out more naturally the initial center “grunge” at the end of the runway as it was cut like with a knife. I believe its perfect now and I can populate it to make the center area darker and even more natural… although I believe its ok as is… No need to be exactly as “one photo reference”, we can have our unique Falcon BMS one.
@I-Hawk will do ASAP… I just want to kill the runway and be done with it and leave him behind… then the taxiways last the other runway.
@APOLLO11 and u haven’t seen the one with CFT’s

Looks good so far Arty, well done and congratulations for your efforts so far.
My only comment is this: The tire marks seem too symmetric and perfect, it is almost as if an 18-wheeler truck turned onto the runway. Maybe you can break them apart a little bit so they appear more random and less perfect.
-
Love it.
IMO, both ends of runway should have more condensed tire marks than middle section.
Hope my guess make sense.
