RE: This Sucks
read the TO-BMS1F-16CM-1 in the DOC folder in your BMS install location
I recommend pages 27-29 and 54-56 for a good way to setup your flight controls
Become familiar with the terms TMS, DMS, CMS and COMMS….
Print the pages I mentioned and practice, practice, practice
…or just continue playing Ace Combat on your X-Box…

RE: Ff you could have one thing in the next update it would be…
I was thinking, what if we could have different audio outputs…for instance, if engine noise and exterior noises could be put on my pc speakers, then all the headset sound, comms, IVC, RWR put on my pc headset…
Its kinda like when on teamspeak…the comms come through my headset, but the game noise is run through my speakers…but it would be sweat if the ingame comms like ATC and AWACS could be put to my headset also.
Same with any other real life sounds being put into the pilots headset, my guess is also the electronics and missile tones.
Seems like more work then I can even imagine, trying to split audio outputs, but I believe this would add a minor level of realism for those of us with good audio systems.

RE: Slew Cursor Delay
hat buttons or axis???…if axis, like my ch hotas, try adding a deadzone.

RE: F16 skin questions
awesome…thz
edit…exactly what I needed…wing parent 3111…you my friend are bad ass.

RE: F16 skin questions
I’m still looking for the dds of the wings when your in pit….not a problem when overwriting current skin sets…but when I created a new set, the wings are not changing. maybe the ckpt art file???

RE: F16 skin questions
OK, next question….so I added a new skin set for the F16cm52, so instead of 1 set and 20 textures I got 2 sets and 40 textures…ALL GOOD…
but… when I go ingame, while in the 3d pit when I look over my shoulder the wings are not the skin I loaded, so were do I look to add the new texture so they load add the ones seen while in the cockpit?

RE: Maverick Capital Sensor
yes, to do a handoff between the tgp and mav you must align them first. before you enter the combat zone target a building far away with the tgp then look at the mav page you will see the do not aim at the same spot, you correct this for each pylon, then your good to go.
This must be done every mission.

RE: F16 skin questions
I would love any psd linked to be able to use as a template. Ofcourse I would give full credit to you, cuz lets face it, all the hard work is in the layers. Paint jobs are easy, its all the detail work that takes time.

RE: "Read The Manual" replies
Coming from no real world flight training at all, I can honestly say that reading the god damn manuals is the answer to learning this sim. Now I did watch all of Krauses tutorials and more. And I did fly online with ppl. But at no point did the vids or the ppl I flew with show me anything not in the manuals. Sure they pointed out things I had yet to learn, but when I dropped back to look at the books, what they showed me was right there in the manual.
Long story short, you CAN learn this sim on your own.
Step 1= RTFM
Step 2= Watch tutorial vids
Step 3= Print out checklist and important pages from manuals, like ramp start in 3 sweeps, the hotas configs for the different modes and the weapon emploment chapters.
Step 4= Practice, practice, practiceAs already stated, this website is more about the creation of the game. While there is alot, and I mean alot, of helpful ppl here. This website is not a virtual squad. So for someone here to say RTFM or “you need to join a vfw”, they are not being elitist jerks. They have just given you the best advice you will ever, ever get.

RE: F16 skin questions
Ok, next question. Does anyone know who made the f16c52cm skin. The stock one in game. I would like to ask them or one of the BMS team permission to use it for reskining, rivet lines, panel line, ect. Ofcourse I already have modified it for personal use, but before I use it to update my black and black/grey skins previously released on the BMS forums, I would like to hear some form of official word from the creator.

RE: HiTex textures
perhaps better to take this up on the Aeyes website since its payware and BMS does not endorse ppl that charge for addons to a program owned by neither BMS or the modder in question.

RE: Low fps/stutter when flying NOE
your pc specs dont tell much….what kind of graphics card do you got…and whats your monitor resolution.
…and you dont need to max out anti alis…i think level 1, 2, 3 and 4 equal x2, x4, x8, and x16…setting it past x8 is a large fps kill with diminished returns…so setting it to level 7 is not really needed unless you own a 800x600 monitor…
with a modern gpu most ppl should run BMS problem free. all shaders, x16aa, all advanced settings checked, 1280 res… plus, any modern cpu should scream through this program, I’m still running a q6600 at 3.6ghz with an evga 760sc. BMS gives me no problems at all.
and what do you have the tree and grass clutter at…stock or max??..low level flight, this may be your shutter.

RE: ODS air bases?
from what i can access, most flew out of saudi arabia. but this is a small number of flights compaired to the SIX american carriers in the area. plus b52s out of the USA.
my guess is Prince Sultan Airbase hosted most squads.

RE: F16 skin questions
well, my skin is unrealistic. but i want to fly US blk52 in the campaign. so, with lodeditor, is there a way to add new skins or just settle with what ive been doing, overwriting the current one?
-
F16 skin questions
with 4.33u1 there are some clear changes to the way skins work. I guess my first question is, with lodeditor, I can see that the F16cm 50 has 5 skins availible, but the F16cm52 only has 1….is there a way for me to add more skins to the 52? As of right now Im currently just overwriting the one availible to be able to update my older Black F16 and Black/Grey F16 skins.

RE: "Read The Manual" replies
Many buttons on the F-16 hotas are multi function depending on what mode you are in (AA, AG, NAV). This is why it is recommended you bind your real life buttons to the in game throttle and stick buttons instead of functions alone. Otherwise you will need more buttons then the number on the in game throttle and stick to do the same amount of functions. The Dash-1 has very good descriptions on this with pictures of the F-16 button layout and the functions they preform in the various modes.

RE: Help with campaign
Remember, you can add a FLOP line on your HSD while in the 2d map screen….when editing your flight waypoints, just right click and “add line”…I normally do line between north and south korea, a box around my cap zone or target area, and mabey a box showing tanker pattern if needed…
Also adding threat circles to the HSD after the first mission or so (when many of the sam threats start showing on the map) is a big plus…once again right click the map and place a threat circle, choose the type of sam, and your good to go.
Also for the campaign I found that for the first mission I will normally make a BARCAP mission or two to fly till the battle really gets going…then I start my sead and strike missions…this lets recon and battle get started before you just fly north blindly hoping for success.
I cheat a little by placing my own squad at whatever airfield I want and let the AI HQ command all stock squad, making it so I always have aircraft available to me without deleting flights, but keeping my squad not fragged by HQ…also eliminating the suicide deep strikes that the HQ always seem to setup.
Recap =
add lines on battle FRONT so you can tell when you crossed into enemy territory,
add threat circles for relevant SAM systems near your area of operation,
Fly CAP missions till the war gets started, shoot down may enemy…then start SEAD on the SAM systems…after that its ground and pound till china enters the war -
RE: Zullu or Local … ?
Just throwing out my vote…I love the idea, just as real life pilots have to deal with such things, we can too…Also love the idea of 24/7 servers starting on zulu therefore removing the realtime/falcontime discrepancy altogether…
clever mission building, clever flight planning…such a small thing can once again raise the bms bar one more notch.
