Could you share that?

Yeah…let me give it a once-over, and I’ll post to another thread for comments. I’ll post the link here when I do so.

Thanks! Looking forward to it.

I must be a peculiar specimen among the Falconeers… I don’t fly on-line, I don’t fly in a campaign (at least I haven’t since the release of 4.33 U1), I don’t have a TrackIR and I don’t have a HOTAS system, my joystick is a humble Thrustmaster 16000M with 16 buttons an a built-in throttle. All of which notwithstanding, I fly quite a lot, almost every day and enjoy it enormously… I fly simple TE’s in the currently available theatres and in different aircraft, and concentrate chiefly on gaining proficiency in the A-G attacks using the host of the ordnance available. What keeps me going on is the perspective of upgrading my machine so that one it can handle multiplayer and campaign maintaining decent FPS. But even with what I have now I feel there’s so much to learn and there’s quite a depth in this simulator that can be explored using fairly slim resources. And the knowledge acquired is simply priceless…

I’ve built a new computer, with a huge ultra wide monitor. And I also bought the Warthag last year…
On the new Computer I didn’t play, it was simply starting the game and checking whether it works or not. nothing else.
And since I have my Warthog, I was configuring the whole thing for several ±40 hours (BMS Updates and testing included) and was purely playing for perhaps… 20 hours? This makes me so angry, buying and configuring things but not playing with it… but I also have to say that I’m not comfortable playing with it.
My desk is too high for the HOTAS. And because it is rounded (I’m surrounded by the desk) I can’t even attach it in front of the desk (but lower)because that would mean I’d have to sit ~2m away. a 32" UW screen is not big enough at that distance.
And my headset with the IR Led mount is simply to heavy to play for longer time…I must construct some kind of cockpit where at least the throttle/Joystick/Seat/Display relation becomes acceptable… dargh…

Well involved in the developing at a specific sector (air navigation), for many years I don’t have the normal free time to enjoy online flights or a virtual squadron.
The last year I made around 5-6 online flights with some good friends! Wow, it is just great…
Into the time, the only quick flights (offline) for me are when I must create/check the procedures.

Re: OP - I too have a young family. If I fly once a week for an hour or so I consider it a good week. I tend to fly single player so I can use accelerated time for transit, but occasionally fly MP w/ a friend. I too hit the tanker for practice regularly, to keep skills up.
I hope to join a squad sometime when I can fly with some regularity. Eventually…

When 4.33 came out, I was excited about trying to get back into Falcon, participating in the online MP servers with others. Then this MP instability thing hit the BMS world, and half the community has gone back to 4.32, which in my mind is in NO ONE’s best long-term interest. It just splinters the community, and that’s never a good thing. BMS really needs to put their priority into fixing the MP situation so everyone wants to use the most current version of BMS instead of users splitting up into factions.
I think I’d like to just hook up maybe once a week with one or two other old farts like me, who has a campaign they need some wingmen help from to run. But I can’t even find that. It’s frustrating, because I miss flying with others in MP.

I haven’t really flown BMS in almost 3 years, due to deployments and having my computer in the bedroom. But we moved to a new house and I have my own room, I’m looking to get back into flying soon.

At the moment flying probably on average 1x a week in Campaign. I have never flown MP, but one day I will (my formation flying sucks). I fly Dogfight if I don’t have long. I tend not to fly TE. For me the Campaign is where it is at as I think it gives the best possible simulation of being a fighter pilot - something the other simulators miss. I spend the rest of the time reading all possible documentation/research when I am not eating/working sleeping.

I haven’t flown in months, and I haven’t flown seriously in close to a year. My life consists of travelling between Vandenberg, Buckley, and sometimes CCAFS. Any time I have between that is spent working on a graduate degree, spending time with my wife and daughter, or fixing the house/cars.
-
I usually fly SPs 3 to 4 times a week, especially during weekends, due to real life obligations.
The real fun, training and education though, is MP with a squadron that takes seriously this sim. But this needs more dedication, which I cannot afford at this time unfortunately… -
SoBad,
Where are you located in Fla ?dfang

…three sons, wife, dog, big countryhouse, freelance architect, local politics….means no time to connect joystick, but sometimes I fly heavy interceptors in TE, using laptop keyboard (wife thinks I am working lol)…just 10 min relax with jet engine sound and multiple targets Alamo/Amos engagements usually…sometimes also F5, Gripen, MiG-21 or other light fighter.
But I try to meet my old Falcon friends during our LAN party every year. Its the only time I fly campaigns and dogfights a bit… no TIR, just mouselook and joystick (old BLACK WIDOW Flightstick)…I try hard to keep with other better equiped guys and their TIR + homebuilt pits… overall flying is not so bad, but I sux in avionic ATM. I also had much better SA in AF (padlock + glance forward…it works different in BMS).What I really love in BMS is FM, independent simdata and alternate pit possibility. Perhaps I should go DCS path, but I have no relation to it. It is too big and I use my laptop for work.

Living in Wisconsin gives a person an appreciation for nice weather, so I don’t sim as much as I’d like to when I can be biking during the day and sipping beers by my fire-pit at night. Now that Winter has arrived I’ll be flying the friendly skies of Korea once again.
I’ve been flying the virtual F-16 on and off since I discovered Free-Falcon in 09. Still think my wife left me do to that.:p
When 4.33 was released I installed it and gasped at it’s beauty. So I decided it was time to build a new gaming rig just for that. Then, shortly thereafter, I installed DCS A-10. I try to give both sims quality time. Maybe three hours a week. If I don’t I quickly forget what button and key does what. Really gives me an appreciation for what the real pilots have to learn. And I thought the Infantry was a pain.
I fly only TE’s, ones I create and ones I can transfer from 4.32 in “Mission Commander.” Right now I’m in the habit of using the KTO range to learn and become proficient in different ordinances. I should try a campaign to see how my current rig handles it and to see what’s changed in the AI since 4.32. The other theaters look wonderful. Maybe I’ll install the Balkans. I miss that area since the “Allied Force” days.
I still use a Saitek AV8R with the keyboard doing the rest. I think I’ll move to a HOTAS within the year. With my current set up I can survive a good number of missions. It’s a never ending learning curve, but one I enjoy.
I would like to try multiplayer, some day since I now have a head-set but I don’t know if I’m good enough. I watch You Tube and am simply amazed at what I see. and the community seems great. But for now I’ll stick to solo-play. I’m not shy, I just don’t want to make an ass of myself or piss any one off.
Toy I built in January: (Windows 7)-(Pentium 5 6600 O.C to 4.0 gig)-(16 gigs of ram) (Track IR-5) (Logitech keyboard, mouse, and head set, All glowing in silly colors) (AV8tr stick)

I’m the same as the OP. I have had this sim since the Falcon 4.0 days which I got in 1998. Over the years it’s been an hour here an hour there. The longest I have ever played was after breaking all my ribs in a mountain bike accident. I could only sit upright. So I flew and flew through the pain.

Yeah, life gets in the way. I’ve got to move, and boy, do I hate moving. I’m having to pack everything up, so I’m living in a nightmare of cardboard boxes. They’re everybloodywhere and I’ll be so glad when it is all over, all I have to do is find the right place, sign loads of bumph and pay the money. Then, once I’m installed, I can at last do some of the things that I wanna do. And one of those things is doing a bit of flying in F4. But until then I ain’t doing much with Falcon.

Marion County (outside of Ocala)
How about that. I lived in Melrose for a long time. I worked a lot in Marion County.

Re OP, I think it’s a common phenomenon. I have 6 year old twin boys, and I’m disabled due to a chronic condition. Although I can’t work right now I can’t sit at my PC without pain, so I only fly when having a ‘good day’. Pain follows but that 1\2 to an hour per week is still worth it!
I have a similar situation, and when my condition isn’t cooperative, I can go for a month or two without playing anything let alone the very involved BMS (as opposed to a simple mouse-only game like Civilization 5). I hate it and I feel like I am letting my friends down by being so absent now and then, but I can’t help it. Pain makes people grumpy, and grumpy people don’t like to be around cheerful people. lol
I share some content on our BMS Facebook Fan Page daily to spread the love, and I maintain a 24/7 KTO “come as you are” public server each day, though the irony being that I spend less time on that server than anyone else. My own kid is grown, and lives cross country with her mother, so my precious “good time” online is spent on the webcam and playing games with her like Don’t Starve Together or Minecraft. I wish she was into sim’s like me, but I doubt I’ll ever get her interested in this study-sim.
Got a referral to a doctor called an “audiologist” for some kind of treatment for BPPV, and I’m hoping it will make it easier to play 3D games - here’s hoping! I know it’s silly, but I picture that kind of doctor to look like a DJ in a lab coat, we’ll see. lol

I don’t have a family but I do have to manage my time between wife and job and all the other things life throws at you. After reading the last few pages I feel grateful that I have as much time as I do and reasonable health, even though I still don’t get enough time to put in more than a couple hours a month on BMS (or any other sim - I still like to fly Cliffs of Dover for my WWII fix).
