Ok, in this case make the Moon is also a factor.
Because full moon + clear weather is quite rare in most places on Earth.no problem to model the real ambiant light with moon with a working moon

Over Serbia a Harrier pilot was downed on 16th of April 1994 with MANPAD regardless it was not full Moon. Howā¦?
Following his 7th (!!) attack run. Which gave plenty time try the launchā¦Moon phase at that time.
https://www.moongiant.com/calendar/april/1994/This is only MANPAD launch against a fighter which I know.
dont worry with the moon,
my second name is āmoon masterā

There are two things we completely forgot to consider about BMS: package in flight control and VR implementation. I hope itās not too late for 4.35.
Iām really looking forward to BMS (hopefully) getting VR support some day. BMS is the only 2D sim I still fly which is a testament to all the stuff it does better than anybody else. If money and space wasnāt an issue Iād have a full viper cockpit and triple projector setup like TVS, but thatās simply not an option for me at the moment so VR for me is the next best thing.
I do wish there was some way of supporting the developers more meaningfully than just standing on the sidelines waving flags and shouting āgo teamā, but I donāt feel like I have any skills that would be useful.

Flying BMS and enjoying what BMS brings you that others dont (and we put a lot of efforts in those areas) is the best motivation we can have
For the record, when i develop BMS , i like listening videos from Lorik and Code in the background ,the way they fly is matching the idea i have of what BMS should be and the level of enjoyment they have while flying is very motivating

this moment in real lifes needs BMS or whatever āhome passionā , of course 3-4 weeks will be the answer but no previews for us, not immortal people?
Cheers

For me -a noob- the world of BMS is so big that what shines out of the 2D 27ā monitor overwhelms me enough as it is. Flying with a VFW multiplies it. Iām always looking for more immersion- but Iām also waiting for VR to get out of itās awkward teenager phase before I worry too much about it.

I bet it was mentioned somewhere in this thread, but BMS 4.34+ not crashing when run under wine would be nice thing. IIRC people reported 4.33 ran perfect in such setup.

I wish 3-4 weeks were literal 3-4 weeks.

Well u actually can and there are many ways.
Many guys in the community got started by not knowing anything at all.
It just needs time, division and stamina.
So get off the go team and get in the team.
Start trying to do things and see what interests you mostly. U can always switch and work on a different aspect.
Help will be provided always, but as all are with their hands full try to find the solution, thus fight the beast first, when u get stack we are here.Ī£ĻĪ¬Ī»ĪøĪ·ĪŗĪµ Ī±ĻĻ ĻĪæ MI 5 Ī¼ĪæĻ ĻĻĪ·ĻĪ¹Ī¼ĪæĻĪæĪ¹ĻĪ½ĻĪ±Ļ Tapatalk

i just checked,
the time of the day is taken into account in the visual detection range as well for the unit spotting code
at night :
detection = nominal day / 4
at dawn / dusk
detection = nominal day / 2 ;
So this has an impact on non radar equiped ground units , that will start spotting and shooting at a much closer range
I agree that Moon position and phase are still not factored in the model, but that is mainly because 4.34 does not have a working moon
Okay, thanks. But I got shot at by AAA at more than 20000ft at night (no RWR indication, so visually aimed I guess). Are you sure that night vision can see me that far away? Also, how many North Korean units actually have night vision?
Does it make a difference if Iām in AB or forgot to turm my external lights off?But this explains something extremely weird I had a while back. I was flying home at night on autopilot after firing my last missile, thinking I was already in friendly airspace. I had a Flanker behind me on my RWR, but I thought that it was many miles behind me. It wasnāt. AWACS didnāt respond to for some reason, so I didnāt know. He (also out of missiles) flew directly up to me and gunned me (and I only found out after watching the ACMI). And missed. I was flying straight and level and he missed me. Then, a friendly HAWK fired at him and he turned away (I think the HAWK got him) and I only survived because of that. I initially thought it was because AI generally has problems with guns, but now i think it was because it was night.
And Iām pretty sure that TV mode shouldnāt work in darkness. Actually, the BMS TV mode seems to work at night exactly like it does during the day.

ā¦FLIRā¦yeah, they can see you. That high, the air is really cold and you are throwing out really hot exhaust. So you stick out like a sore thumb and can be optically tracked - hence no RWR indication. And there are gun systems that can shoot that high, dunno if BMS models them or notā¦but I have to guess that it does!
Yes - AB makes it worse, and flying close to Mach 1.0 makes it worse - they call it the āspeed of heatā, right?

If all this is modeled then the MiG-29 shouldnāt have missed at night.

for Manpads, those are IR seekers, therefore they dont need visual,
the signal is dependant on IRsignature of the aircraft, including temperature of engine, presence of plume , speed and aspect.
you can find information here:
https://mega.nz/file/318D0SAB#8zzSq_ZYNtkXJMKvYVZdDSScPcF719Bkc9CkjDWx5do
The position of the SUN in the IR detection is taken into account in the model , because of course Ir contrast depends on sun posit and ground heating.
By night, the IR detection is therefore better because of better contrast of sources
So are you still sure it seriously breaks realism ?
the fog alters the IR source sureā¦ but according a visibility criteria ? or is it just the presence of fog?
I ask this question because I was shoot as well in a fog to be crossed to the knifeā¦:attention: -

I donāt know what sort of IR systems the Mig-29 carriesā¦but rest assured that assets on the ground are generally more capable that assets in the air because they donāt have to worry about being light enough to fly - and so can be more complex.

I ask this question because I was shoot as well in a fog to be crossed to the knifeā¦:attention:Fog should have a similar effect on IR systems as smoke does on laser systemsā¦but possibly not a totally defeating affect in all cases. Lots of variables.

Well, At least I have trouble with guns at night. Even if I have radar lock, aircraft are hard to see with NVGs and aiming at a TD box doesnāt work as well as aiming at a an aircraft.
Also, it was a Flanker, not a MiG-29. I believe it was a Su-30, but it could have been a J-11 as well.

Hello,
There has been some very nice work done to custom airbases in BMS, Osan and Kunsan are splendid. Now, it would be really awesome if we could choose our parking spot ?
Would be cool to be bale to take advantage of those nice HAS shelters, adds to the atmosphere.
So much work has been put into it, the deserve to be taken advantage of, i think this is mainly the purpose of real life looking airbases.
